We both worked as paralegals at the time so he I got the call as soon as he got out. Cops told him he couldn't got back to his house as long as she was there! She didn't even live in his house. We came up with a little plan, printed out some of her texts, filed a few motions with the court, a braced for the worst. "Stella" found religion. She told the judge that she made the whole thing up and that she didn't want him to leave her. She apologized to the court and my dude in open court. She said she admits that what she did was wrong and that she needed help. Judge told her what a terrible thing thing she just did and how she almost destroyed a man's life. You can't make this stuff up. Case went away. She got no jail time, no sanctions, no punishment. Nothing. My dude went through 30 days of pure hell ... sleeping on couches while his house stood empty. There is a lesson in this story somewhere. Some of these guests have no conscience at all.
