everything about Nigeria died, when we lost idiagbon, Babangida was complete opposite of Tunde, and he systematically destroyed Nigeria, may Idiagbon rest on,in eternal peace,
The finest soldiers of his time. IBB couldn’t lace his shoes. An honest man who could have put discipline in the heart of the country. Tunde created Buhari’s reputation without any doubt and we can now see how awful Buhari was without someone like Tunde Idiagbon. It was said that Buhari was brought to power by Idiagbon because he was a visible Fulanis who could reassure Fulanis that the removal of Shagari was not targeted at them. I always wondered what became of him and his family after I left Nigeria in 1986 till date. Thanks for the summary of this great statements man!
Tunde Idiagbon was not part of the coup that removed Late Shagarii from power. Buhari appointed Tunde Idiagbon because he was friend and successors at Maiduguri Govt house
Idiagbon's regime was the best regime Nigeria ever had. The muslim Caliphates in Nigeria colluded with Britain, and Saudi Arabia and removed Idiagbon's govt. His regime stopped all the lootings by foreign organizations, and demanded equal respect for Nigeria and her citizens worldwide, as Nigeria gave same to foreign nationals and organizations inside Nigeria. He meted death penalty to drug traffickers, long jail terms for mismanaging or embezzling government funds. He was a very honest man and an exceptionally disciplined soldier. Europeans hated him because he did not allow them to defraud Nigeria. Life was not harder on the people, as a matter of fact. he implemented programs that caused prices of essential commodities to drop and be affordable. There was food surplus. He encouraged that Nigerians produced the product we used, Naira appreciated in value on daily basis in the international market. Had the man remained in the office for another three years, Nigeria would've been far better than many countries in Western Europe, today. He was a genius.
@@JafaruAdokutu I didn't mislead anyone what I wrote was a fact. The initiative of all the programs implemented was, for the most part, spearheaded by Idiagbon. Buhari been the head of State was and even now not brilliant, he was a figure head then, just like he was in the two terms he recently served as an elected president. Back to 1983, Had Idiagbon made it back to the office from Mecca, chances were that Bihari would have been ousted by Idiagbon, anyway, due to Buahari's involvement in the 2.8 Billion Naira stolen under Buhar's watch at NNPC, If I may remind you, immediately Buhari and Idiagbon toppled Shagari, Chief Awolowo' residence and home office were ransacked by the Nigerian Army, and Chief Awolowo's manifestos he drafted, should he had won the election, was stolen by the Military. One of the items on his manifesto was changing the currency, which Idiagbon implemented.
As a little boy then, I never knew Buhari was head of state because the only name I ever heard was Idiagbon. In fact, a few years later, I was looking through a list of past heads of states at school and asking "where is Idiagbon?" and "who is Buhari? When did he rule Nigeria? "
A name that will never be forgotten. One of the greatest Nigerians, and human being that ever lived! If there ever was a Nigerian leader with incorruptible integrity, this man was he! May his rest always remain peaceful. I pray to see his kind again before I transcend this plane...🙏🏿🙏🏿
What integrity? It was all false. While he was brutalising Nigerians, his son Damola was spending money like toilet paper at University of Maiduguri where he was an undergraduate btw 1987-91. I know cos I was there as well. Nigerian leaders are all the same. Hypocrites par excellence!
One of the best military leaders in the history of Nigeria. Le général Tunde restera une référence pour son sens de l'honneur, de l'intégrité, et de respect pour la patrie. May Allah Almighty grant the highest place to him in heaven.
We felt the spirit of Idiagbon at the village and I used to wear my school beret like Idiagbon. There was discipline and change of attitude of all Nigerians and the corrupt cabal decided to kill him. Nigeria has wasted so many smart and good people. We are left with the empty and evil cabal to mess everything up in Naija.
@@healthandfitnesscorner3263 Not exactly, he went to Abuja to consult with OBJ, soon after OBJ was elected and we were informed he died after drinking tea. He was to play a major role in OBJ govt by auditing all the failed contracts and bring the saboteurs to book. Idiagbon was killed because of his honesty and dedication. Go do some research. Thank you.
@@ebimene7stop passing wrong information boss idiagbon wasn’t invited anywhere and poisoned with a tea that story was for MKO and not idiagbon Idiagbon died after a short illness
When the then Military Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo handed over power to President Sheu Shagari in 1979, there was a memo in the handing over note about repositioning the military. The report contains a recommendation that all military officers who had occupied political positions in the past should be retired from the military. President Sheu Shagagri ignored the report. Those recommended for retirement include General Mohammadu Buhari, General Tunde Idiagbon, General Ibrahim Babangida, and General Sanni Abacha. President Sheu Shagari complained that most of the senior officers recommended for compulsory retirement are Hausa/Fulani. It was the same people that later destroyed the Second Republic and our economy through coups d'état.
Your comment is nothing short of ignorance. You are seriously biased. Shagari was the one who destroyed Nigeria. Idiagbon was only trying to fix the mess caused by Shagari and his cohorts when Babangida over threw him. .
The way General Idiagbon had the WAI war against Indiscipline was a principle based approach to riding the country of corruption which would have worked far better than EFCC which is rules based anticorruption and post mortem. Had Idiagbon continued and Wai matured there would have been no need for ICPC and EFCC and the value system we have in Nigeria which is the root cause of systemic corruption would have been decimated all the way.
The best president we never had in Nigeria 🇳🇬. Buhari hid under his achievements to come back as civilian president. How we wish he's alive to rule Nigeria 🇳🇬 for 4 years. RIP Nigeria hero
My eyes were soaked watching this, i still remember is regime as a child. If you are watching this in 2070, tell your folks how Nigeria would have been a great country and represents black race as it should be , if Idiagbon had completed his leadership.
MAY THE MOST HIGH FATHER WELCOME HIM HOME.....A TRUE AFRICAN....WHO SAW THE REAL ENEMY OF NIGERIA AS CORRUPTION /INDISCIPLINE... FOUGHT WAI ....HOW RIGHT HE WAS/ IS..... WE MISS YOU MY GENERAL....
Most useless you mean . All of them military Jar heads useless . They’re good at following orders ,fighting and protecting not leading. They’re the reason Nigeria is stuck, military men lack Vision to lead
He was commonly known as Brigadier Tunde Idaigbon! for a long time in the regime. You can see his military rank as brigadier throughout this video. Later he got promoted. Brigadier Sanni Abacha announced the coup.
If you didn't know, please know today. Nigerians are some of the most difficult people to manage or be their leader. Idiagbon was the right fix for our level of resources.
What a great man of honour, Tunde would have put Nigeria to best track and deliver us from all these deplorable state Nigeria find herself today, may his gentle continue to rip.
Totes samame date and year as myself 1409 1943 greatman Dickinson and well read he gave Nigerians respect and a place of honour in the world May his name always he honoured and May he rest in peace May his name be reverend in the world thank you for making Nigerians to hold our heads in the world Rest in peace mayGodvwatch over his familymhonour in the wor
You are quite right. Gen. Idiagbon was actually the face of Buhari-Idiagbon administration between Dec. 1983- August 1985. I could remember as teenager in secondary school then no day pass without one news or the other on Idiagbon.
General Tunde Idiaghbon is the only genuine Nigerian military leader that understands how to rule Nigeria. He is still the best Nigerian leader we have ever had. He never embezzled. Not corrupt, extremely disciplined. Respected inside and outside military as a very upright man. He was a Fulani and Yoruba man. If we had Idiagbon as leader after Buhari, I am sure Nigeria will probably be better than Portugal or Spain with a good inward and outward image. Sani Abacha and Babangida destroyed the moral fibre of Nigeria.
He was feared in all corners of Nigeria, during those days you dare not throw trash on the street, let alone pee outside. Great man indeed, no record of him looting our national treasury
Idiagbon, Adisa, and Lawal are all of yoruba ancestry. He was the pillar of Buhari military administration. The second in command, that was feared more than the commander. The fear of Idiagbon was the beginning of wisdom to many people during the Buhari military administration.

Born on 14TH SEPTEMBER 1943 to a Fulani & Yoruba ancestry. Tunde Idiagbon the great.
I was a small boy when he held power as vice president.... His name was on the lips everyone then because he was a no nonsense soldier. People thought Buhari was strong and corrupt free not knowing that it was Idiagbo that was doing the whole thing.
@IwaraFelix-zt1kc and since he left the power others that leads and there policies not harsh for Nigeria citizens where there suft policies lead Nigeria and Nigerian too
Did you say 'harsh'? I would have then thought the other leaders who were better by your standards would not have deteriorated every sphere of the Nigerian society to what we all suffer today. He was the best man for Nigeria by a million miles brother. You cannot be good to everyone, especially the bad eggs which he tried to get rid of. Upright man he was. May his soul rest in peace.
just assume we took those baby steps of pain then, our economy would have been competing favourably with the USA. Man was promoting local content way back in 1983. chai
@@WW24343 He was poisoned with a cup of tea when he went to visit Obasanjo when OBJ wanted to consult with him and appoint him to investigate abandoned contracts and other high crimes by the elite . He was such a courageous man. This should be sometime in 1999/2000. The best ruler, even though I don't like the Military, but Nigeria at that time and even now needs a character like Idiagbon to salvage her.
I am here scratching my head, Idiagbon is nonetheless an Edo/Benin name and yet, his family tree has no mention of Edo/Benin? Please can someone show me why?
This guy was too rugged Everything buhari was given credit for(both good and bad), this guy actually did it...and the other military personnels respected/feared him that's why they carried out their coup when he wasn't in nigeria
Buhari used his glory to win election, as at that time, I have never heard Buhari voice before, only Tunde Idiagbon would talked and Buhari picture was only displayed on National TV but no voice. That was the reason everything happened was only Idiagbon, according to the story, Idiagbon wanted Buhari to retired Babangida and Abacha from the military, but Buhari didn't listen to Idiagbon, the hajj was meant for Babangida to go, but Buhari told Idiagbon to go that Babangida is not good to go to Hajji and that was the end of the road for Buhari because Idiagbon was the backbone. He was poiso*n by the military led by the last head of state. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
He elevated Nigerian citizens values and the whole world began to respect Nigerians abroad. At home, he began building and repairing roads. If you reported there was a damage to a road, the ministry of works would go there and fix it within three days. He created a task force that will auction the merchandise of any whole food dealer hoarding foods in order for them to inflate the prices. He created publicity campaigns against waste and mismanagement of resources, pickpocket, even to deter those wasting water. He promoted local farming and there was food surplus all over the country. He was stand-up leader. Buhari was just potatohead.
I was taught in history that Muhammadu Buhari was not part of the coup let alone plan it. According to what i learnt, Babangida and the rest planned it, MKO funded it but IBB could not made Idiagbon back down. So, he (Idiagbon) had to choose a senior officer of a fulani descent that he could bow to, hence Buhari.
