I always liked Gary Oldman in the Fifth element, Anton Chigurh in no country for old men was pretty cool too but even better in the book. I think my favorite antagonist/protagonist character of all time though was Bill Paxton in Frailty. If you've never seen it I highly recommend it. Also "The Prisoner" in Jack reacher was pretty badass and very similar to this villain in this movie.
I’ve appreciated Denzel in this movie so much that I didn’t take time to really appreciate the villain, he was great. My favorite scene is the restaurant scene.
Marton Csokas - of Hungarian background - born in NZ, truly excels as Denzel Washington's opponent in this masterpiece : cast him in a future 007 movie as a villain, he's frightening and unpredictable at the same time!.
"You have taken Mr. Pushkin's money for years. Money that comes with conditions. NON-NEGOTIABLE conditions. The PROBLEM you're having with me is you still think you matter. You don't. I'm all that matters. And so we're clear. I'm not here to say "please." I'm here to tell you what to do." 💀
Sure he did the guy was a small man with nobody in the room to help him out and he got sucker punched. This scene SUCKED. If he had done that in Charles Town there would have been pieces of russian laying around all over town after he got his.
This character wss scary af. Well spoken erudite villains tend to call the shots from the shadows- not strangling prostitutes and beating the sh1t out of minor league gangsters with astrays.
Any person who imagines himself in an authority position who speaks as though he is the "ultimate" power is taking an enormous chance. Just because it has worked before does not guarantee that it always will. This is the main problem with gangsters. Any gangster must also understand that there will always be competition from unexpected sources. Vito Corleone recognized this and was always very "careful' with his words. Gangsters are essentially "warlords." All warlords face competition from unexpected sources. The smart ones are always careful with how they present themselves. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
@@williscox6025 if appears to be that your correct. Just think Little Tommy called in sick that morning or they would have had enough guns and none of that happens. No movie and I'm not leaving this comment x amount of years later about it
If not the cop he could have easily bought more guys. Luckily the cop instinctively reacted. If in fact they did manage to kill both guys, they’d be attacked along with little John’s other people (I’d imagine so for retaliation in killing one of an important person to the Russian side). Maybe an all out war between the factions? “Hypothetically speaking” haha
Dumb guards, just with guns. Always place visitors in a position where you can dominate if needed. Stand behind them and flanked. Place one next to the boss watching their hands because the ones behind the visitors can't see their hands. This is the guy the back ones cue into. If he acts, they all act. Basic sht.
Only the dumb Irish would identify with ''Little John" being a blind but loud mouth bottle head. That intimidating bark game only scares younger children but irritates grown men like that Russian
That was some quick draw trigger action. But.. Little John's security team sucks. How do you not have a shell already chambered and ready in that situation?
Gawd.. why so much? That much in strategic places could np level a multi-level building.. A standard 1.25lb piece of moldable plastic explosives is big.. big enough to level that room and the rooms beside it.. that's just C-4, not semtex.. semtex is even more powerful..
There is no reason for him to call him that other than for this scene to get violent. The crooked cop just randomly says "don't call him..." Makes no sense at all.
