In this video i will show you the removal and installation process for 2003 Nissan Sentra 1.8L. This job was pretty easy and only took me about 2.5-3 hours. From what i understand this process works for 2000-2006. Thanks for watching and Please Like and/or Subscribe!

Excellent video, I just replace the head gasket on my daughters 2002 1.8 Sentra. I installed a new thermostat and radiator. It also took me two oil changes to get the oil clean.

I just bought a 2004 Sentra i never did timing chain before i was wounding about the chain tensioner thank for this video. I need to do a head gasket job on my Sentra.

@@sypher0101 I took that off but i can't take off the intake camshaft bolt off. Is the bolt thread so i turn it right to take it off the intake camshaft bolt?

Mind blown can not believe you took an aluminium head off and didn't take it to the machine shop to be resurfaced literally cut the chances of the head gasket holding by atleast 60% but thank you guys like you are what keep guys like me in business.

Mine is seeping very slightly. Thinking of doing them next summer. My 06 Nissan Sentra has been the most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Just did drum shoes after 16 years, original hardware and everything lol.

Did you check the head to see if it was warped? And what was that stuff you sprayed on the gasket? Is it common for these heads not to warp? Also, why is it necessary to put it in tdc if not going to remove the harmonic ballancer and chain?

I borrowed my Mom's 2003 Nissan Sentra 1.8L GXE, with 80K on odo. Mind you, she drives short trips on surface streets, only. She did admit she had to top off the coolant every ~50 miles. I drove it on the freeway and when I exited to get in line for fast food, the radiator bellowed white smoke. The oem stock radiator's plastic top developed a 9 inch hairline fracture. My Mechanic diagnosed a blown head gasket. Mechanic quietly said it may be time for a newer car.

mine did the same with stock radiator. the leaky head gasket pushed air bubbles into cooling sys. between the increase in air bubbles, no heat @ from vents, coolant being pushed out into the reservior, the high water temps, the radiator was a tell tale sign that more things were going to break if i didnt fix that head gasket.

The diagram shows 1-10 head bolts going from the outside in,does it make a difference if you start at 10 or 1?

Okay video. Just because we are removing a certain part of the vehicle doesn't mean we gloss over the other parts that we need to put back. Taking things off is easy it's putting them back that's the challenge. Skipped over crucial parts. Also have adequate lighting IOT show those who watch future videos EXACTLY what it is you are referring to. Aside from those grievances video was decent

The head has to come off and flpped over cleaned and checked with a straight edge at minimum. I always take the head to be shaved and new valve seals ,he also checks the valves and guides at the same time.

The person who bought it off his lot will most likely have to pay for a new head gasket in a short period of time. I did it the same way on a Sentra when I was 17 and it lasted 2wks. I was young and broke then, never again.

Hi i need help taking off the intake camshaft bolt off, i took the exhaust camshaft bolt off easy but not the intake side. Is the intake camshaft bolt thread i turn right to take it off?

Any issues with oil leak? I noticed when you oiled the head bolts you dipped the threads in the oil (looked quite a bit). I applied a fraction of that oil on the threads & I suspect when screwing it in, it pushed oil out and squeezed past the new head gasket. :/

Isnt it standard practice to machine the surface/cylinders (genuinely curious) or is that more so if there residual gunk? or how you know you need to machine/level it ?

I couldn't find it either. I just started in the center and worked my way to the ends. I just snugged them up real good but not over tighten them.

great video, you all made that look so easy I have a 2004 sentra with the 1.8 I have a persistent POO11 code any ideas? other than that it runs like it is new 185000 miles. We purchased it new. I want to get this code taken care of

new spark plugs and take your injectors out and air hose them dudes code should go away if not gut your cat out if it has set for any amount of time take out your backseat and reveal your gas tank if it's dirty shop vac that whole dude rinse it with water and repeat them dry it by hand the whole tank from the backseat whole in the middle then new plugs and air hose them injectors thats how to make it like new ive had the 04 and the 06 1.8 ive made both completely custom in and out its such a great car and easy to do anything to it

Hey i got a 2000 nissan primera with a qg18 and I'm having a overheating problem I check water pump thermostat radiator and radiator cap and the car still overheating. Now the water boiling up so its the headgasket gone?

@@natemorgan4665 you would need to torque the head bolts so you would need one. Harbor freight or online You can find a 1/2 torque wrench there for 20$

Dumb question, but can you access those allenwrench bolts without removing the camshafts? I’m wondering if the head can be separated from the block without removing them
