Never knew these engines could brake. Except the timing chain stretch (bad oil maintenance) never saw one died. 600.000 KM's and still running.

I have a N16 with a QG13DE here in the Philippines and already had 600,000km and its great! It's never been overheated once.. the only issue I have now is the valves tickin' maybe because of age..

Very good, well done. Only thing I think I would have done was to lubricate the cam bearings before putting the caps back on them. Could you use diesel to flush the engine instead of oil, without the plugs in and crank engine with the starter then thoroughly drain and put new oil in then?

Is it necessary to turn the camshaft 4 times before instal of timing chain ? What if the cam is installed exactly the same way it came out ?😊

@JadieFowler

Wouldn’t the oil do that ?
@sypher0101
@sypher0101 Месяц назад
@@JadieFowler Yes, but it's my understand you apply lube/oil to the contact-surfaces so when the cams turn, you don't get metal-on-metal. It would takes some seconds to get the oil to the cams to lubricate them.

Next time please apply the Shellac sealant on the head gasket, both sides, not on the block.

I drive a Nissan Almera Classic with the QG16DE engine that looks similar to the QG18DE, I forgot to close the radiator cap which led to alot of coolant loss which caused overheating and that led to a blown head gasket, I am gonna replace the head gasket tomorrow and I just wanna know if I can still drive it as hard as I used to before? The car was driven for 78k miles, will the car be the same as before blowing the original head gasket ? Will I be able to push the car to its limits after the head gasket replacement just like I used to before or not?

Do you have to have the camshaft lobes pointing up or in any specific direction after you install the sprockets? Just wondering if they are suppose to be pointing "up" or if it matters. the camshaft lobes.
