Just came home after a run after watching your tips. Noticed I was dragging my feet and holding my pelvis kind of behind my body, fixed those according to your advice, and wow, ran faster, longer and lighter straight away. So it felt important to come back and say a big thank you for your expert advice. You're making a difference, thanks so much!
This was so helpful. I ran my 5k this morning and improved my average pace from 12:47 to 11:27. That's a huge difference with such little tweaks. Thank you for sharing.
I'm onto week 5 of C25K now, and having watched this and checked my posture for the last three weeks, I have found the tension in my neck, shoulders and lower back have disappeared, and running is so much more enjoyable. Thank you so much. Why don't they teach this in Phys Ed at school? I learnt so many bad habits back at school and hated sports as a result but now I am really enjoying it.
As a beginner i absolutly love your vids! But at the end i had to giggle :D Like.. since one month i am working on a 15min run without any stops while in beginner videos everyone talks about "when you are doing your 30min run" :D Lets try not to be frustradet! I got this.
I did your techniques in running for beginners and omg what a improvement it had done in my journey. Thank you I’m still not where I want to be but so much better than where I was before.
This video is so thorough, and the teacher is so articulate in explaining everything to a beginner runner like me. What a pro. Thank you!! So happy I found this channel!
So glad you found it helpful! Search "beginner" on the channel, and you'll find a bunch of other videos with drills, mobility, run workouts, etc. to help get you started!
I have been a runner for over 40 years but after getting COVID and being away from running for long time I started having pain in my hips and knees due to a VERY BAD running form. This helped ALOT. Thank you. Had to re-learn and this helped, thank you.
I was not only able to do 2 km, but after I fixed my posture, started listening to music and did warm-ups, I am literrally doing 5 km in 35 minutes after a single week! Tysm!
Dude I've been looking everywhere for advice like this! I just began running about a month ago and every time I go out my hips start killing me almost instantly. I knew I had to have been doing SOMETHING wrong..definitely going to have to try this out on my run tonight! This video is very much appreciated! :)
I'm just getting back into running after 7 years of sticking to lifting weights. This is by far THE best channel for running information. Your instructions are to the point & easy to follow. Thank you!
As someone that was more of a sprinter in my younger age I'm having a hard time transitioning to a runner. My breathing is terrible, I can't find a good pace and I definitely have a forward lean when I run. I'm glad I found this channel. I hope to be able to put these tips into practice and see results.
@@pollux_id2557 holding yourself straight, then yes.... the trick is to find upright and then relax with it... the body work in unison better for distance running with the body and head being directly above your mid sole foot strikes... a forward lean should only regularly be seen in sharp accelerations
I've been running marathons over 14 years and ultra marathons for 10+ years and this was still helpful for me. Thank you for all of your helpful, informative video content. I'm looking forward to seeing how this improves my running strength, form and results.
Form and technique are something even the most experienced among us continue to work on over the years. It's amazing the difference small tweaks can have on our running!
@@TheRunExperience Right on. I've already turned some of my running friends to your channel. Your coaches all give clear explanations on a variety of subjects. In the right timing, I'm considering trying your Training Club. Big thanks and keep up the great work!
I love this video! I watched it yesterday before heading out for my run. My goal at this point is to just increase my distance, but after applying the body mechanics taught here, my speed improved as well--immediately! Last weekend I tortured myself for 12.75 miles and was very sore for several days afterwards; my average speed was 5.9 mph. Yesterday, I ran 14.25 miles easily and my average speed was 6.7 mph!!!!! I don't feel sore today at all. What a huge difference these simple changes have made. I'm just shy of 56 years old, and plan on running my first marathon at the end of April. Holly, I'll have you to thank when I cross that finish line---thank you!!!
I used to run in high school and hike a lot, but after graduating and my best friend who i would hike with moved away, I largely stopped running. i’ve only very recently got back into it, and this channel has been a big help for me. Thanks everyone!
So articulate and such clarity on minute details. I realised I keep dragging my feet as I run and keep looking down. Will make it a point to improve on these small things
Your "somewhere between high knees and butt kicks" illustration helps a lot. I've been running since May of this year and have built up to 8 miles on my long run, but with bad form. Literally, I just started working on correcting my form this week. It's awkward right now and I might have to slow things down for the time being, but my knees and hips are already feeling better. Thanks for the video!
Hi Alan! Great job on building up your endurance! You're right, though, that sometimes we have to slow down a bit to fix things and improve. We like to practice the drills in isolation at the start of the run, and then integrate them into the run.
Thanks! First "official" run this morning using the correct form. It was both easier and more difficult. Easier on my knees and hips. In fact, these didn't hurt at all. I felt noticeably lighter on my feet. But it felt unnatural and seemed aerobically harder. Maybe because I had gotten used to running incorrectly and need some time to adapt. Also, I may have exaggerated the knee lift which could have been harder on my quads. Anyway, I'll keep working on it until it clicks. Things at least seem to be heading in the right direction. :)
I really appreciate this breakdown. Some people may think that running comes natural for everyone, well this definitely isn’t the case for me. I have been running for several months and have developed terrible shin splints due to bad form. I really hope this can help me learn not to heel strike. Thank you!
i have been training for the junior olympics for a while and going when i am 15 i owe your channel so much these videos brought me up from my beginner speed and gave a hope for my favorite thing ever running
This really helped me so much. Yesterday i ran, and after that I had so much pain in my neck muscles. Today i tried this and i do not have pain in my neck muscle almost at all. It has improved so much! I really recommend trying this if you have pain in your upper back and neck muscles, it helps for sure! Thank you so much for this video!🤗
I'm weirdly pleased that I already was correcting myself in these things lmao. You really so notice a difference when you run properly, falling out of proper form is noticeable immediately for me because it makes the run suck immediately
I haven't run since I left the Marine Corps 15 years ago. I'm just getting back into it and a friend recommended your channel. This has been very helpful! Thank you!
I have watched a four or five other videos on this and you mentioned what they did, BUT your presentation and style...so much better!!!!I am now a fan. Was able to follow easier and remember better. Thank you!!!!
Found this video in my recommended videos. Glad it was there. I started running 2 days ago and I always have a hard time with posture in the past. I ended my run with shin splints so I hope these techniques will definitely help! Thanks.
I am trying to learn to incorporate all of these techniques into my running so I can improve my general posture, frame, and feet shuffling. I am a beginning runner, and these tips are very helpful to me. Thank you!
Just started running again last Tuesday for the first time in about 8-10 years. Today (my second run), I consciously incorporated all this into my 1.65 mile run. My pace was 39 seconds faster than last Tuesday (five days ago).
So glad I found this channel right at the beginning of taking up running. I hope to run my first half marathon this coming fall. If I have good form to start with I hope to avoid the problems of adjusting it later. Going to have my husband video me this weekend so I can see what needs work not just what I think in my head.
Clear, organized, systematic look at physiological functions (hips, Shoulders, etc.)well thought out approach and simple experiments to observe to improve performance. Very skilled!! Thank you!
Im so glad i found the run experience vedios and I'm very thankful to the team. I implemented these techniques and now my running form is better. Im a beginner before watching this vedio my running form wasn't proper and other people were giving a weired look at me. But after following these techniques i don't get unwanted attention from ppl. I feel more confident.
I can't thank this channel enough for their educational and very helpful content. After years of struggling with Depression, I have found running to be my outlet. I rely on these tips to keep me going strong. I'm about 1 year in, 50 lbs lighter, and now running 6 miles 5x a week. My ultimate goal is to run a marathon some day! If you are just starting out you can do it! A year ago I could barely run a mile without stopping. Keep the awesome content coming! Thank you again!
Oh! This validates what I am trying to position my body when I do running without even knowing that these techniques are actually desirable but there are still parts that need improvements. Thank you for these valuable tips. I am new to running. I started last April 2023 as a way to alleviate my mental state and physical states.
Really and undoubtedly,, this video on running for the beginners provides positive clues regarding how to run correctly and accurately in the beginning.THE bits shown through practical demonstration and glimmer to the quality of the video. Interesting and absorbing to the core. Please keep it up with equal energy and zeal. Thanks.
I just started exercising and running to get into shape. I was having bad shin splints and ankle pain. After watching this video and warming up, my ankles and shins are not bothering me. Thanks!
This is SO HELPFUL as a beginner runner. All your beginners video has prepped me for a better running experience and allowed me to understand that every run has a purpose. Thank you for what you do 🙏🏻
I use to think I was running faster only to see it at the exact time/distance as before. I would experiment on the new posture and hope it doesn't slow me down.
Man i dont know what to do next . I used to run with not such an ideal body poster . But with time I was improving my distance at a good rate . But then i thought of applying better running form and now my distance is all messed up . Then I even tried going back to MY normal . But i couldnt help but notice my form . Now I am running with good technique but very less distance . BTW its been only 4 days since I improved my technique . Will see how much time will it take to run same distance as before .
Yea its the form that will get you in the beginning. Just keep working at proper form and it will come easier to you, and eventually as your body gets used to the new form/working different muscles, your running will become far more efficient and less sore.
Thank you for this. I’ve been running for quite some time but never put any work into my form. Now that I’m more serious about running, I know that I need to work on keeping my shoulders back more and picking my feet up sharper.
Holly, I went out and applied these lessons and had a great run. Had to focus more than I thought I would to keep my shoulders back because i naturally wanted to slouch when my thoughts would wander. Pace was faster than normal, though, with taller posture and crisper stride. Thanks so much!
Lately while jogging, I had been feeling like my feet were directly under me and my waist was bent too far over. This video was VERY helpful!! I took a jog immediately after watching and felt great! My hamstrings, glutes and core felt more engaged versus a terrible strain on my calves. Thanks!
I am a beginner and I love your videos, they have helped me in many ways, with posture, breathing and enjoyment. Still very early for me in my running days but enjoying running so much.
Wow! I have been running for some time but never took time to notice these things. In my next run I will try and observe my self. Thanks for the tips. Good job, Keep it up!
Just came across this clip. Fantastic tips! Thanks heaps. We all need reminding of the basics. I'm coming back off an achillies injury and will definitely use this to re-set 👍
What i’ve leanred from listening to podcast is that you have to at least have a high cadence. To not drag your feet and be efficient. Thnx for the video
just came back from a run practice. It's 0300. I didn't want to be seen by a lot of people. LOL. I really need to learn how to really just pick my feel up off the ground. I really never realized how difficult that is. I walk in the park a lot. and I have a hard time with a run technique but this video helps. I will try to practice and hopefully start running.
Thanks, just like a pilots preflight check list. I am retired in year round tropical island running weather. I have just turned 76 and realized I have not been in a gym in 5 years so I began running five days a week but at first I ran to fast with no proper form and I was winded in 200 meters. Now I warm up first, start at slower pace hold my head high and can run one kilometer to beach and back.
Thank you for the simple, concise posture and running tips. I always think about my form and wonder if it’s correct. These guidelines will certainly help.
I made my body transformation. I was able to lost 15lbs for only one month and finally started feeling healthy. I took plan from *Next Level Diet* and followed their tips. Thank you #*Next Level Diet*
