If you can't see why legalising drugs would make the world better, then perhaps you havent thought about it hard enough. Most of the harm involved in drugs is rooted in the very fact that it is illegal. Absolutely no regulation or quality control for starters, unsafe product is what kills many people. The high price of drugs which causes addicted people to steal and cheat (prices would go way down in a regulated market), the fact that you get jailed and in trouble with the law for what you put into your own body, and treating addiction as the health issue that it is, the shifting of a multi billion dollar market out of the hands of gangs and into the hands of legitimate companies who actually contribute to society to just name a few reasons why the world would be better off if the drug market was not run by gangs and instead run by legit businesses. More dangerous drugs such as meth and heroin should be by prescription only - but prescriptions should be given to anyone who really wants it. The fact that you have to put your name on a register will deter many people.
