Renee Geyer!! made it Big in America with 'Say I Love You', came back to Aussie, and suddenly disappeared off the music scene. Such an amazing journey and Singer from Australia, she deserves more Kudos!....Us Kiwis were happy to have her!!...Such a Big Icon in New Zealand and Still Is....Go Renee

Renee was always there when she could ... legend .. beautiful voice in a beautiful setting ... miss them days .. anyone else remember seeing her there .. RIP Renee ... she also was a backup singer sometimes for Cold Chisel ,another aussie icon ...
WHAT A SUPERLATIVE performance! Why isn't this woman respected as one of the world's greatest blues and jazz singers??? She has style and talent equal to Aretha Franklin and many others of equal marque. Exquisite soul-baring performance.
To answer my own question: She is (by her own admission and all those who've ever known her) "a difficult woman". Very, very sadly she has wrecked her own career and relationships through substance abuse and physical ailments, no doubt from deep deep inner troubles which -- on the other hand -- have given her musical expression such emotional expression. Sadly, many of the greats have been likewise.
For me, the best female artist ever, she was worshiped here in NZ because she had such an amazing soulful voice and her music timeless. This song was like a NZ national anthem. Another Aussie female artist I loved was Tina Arena, soooo goooooood.

Blast from the past, went to alot of Renee Geyer performances when she came to NZ, her soulful husky singing voice and her song list was the big attraction that drew my attention to go and see. Beautiful singer and memories ❤ 💕 .
I remember going to see Renee sing at Bombay Rock in brunswick, real class, exceptional voice, beautiful Women. Totally had a girl crush lolz. Still rocks my world xoxoxoxox

where was it preformed at ? another kiwi here .. used to see her in early 80s at jazz/blues fests at the Mon Dersir hotel takapuna beach .. in garden bar which backed onto and overlooked beach ... She was always the star , the voice , the setting ... the old days .. Thanks Renee RIP ...

Love Renee Geyer, years ago I watched one of her concerts on tv probably early 80's. I knew her songs coz she was popular at the time but I'd never seen her before, not even a photo. She was rocking & owning that staged - loved her ever since! Such a beautiful & soulful voice. I have ywo of her CD's. Ty Renee for all the wonderful music xx
Because Australia didn't know what to do with her. Her voice was too black for them to handle. Such a shame - she's the best female singer to come out of Australia ever.

I totally agree Lee this happens a lot .But Renee has a powerful voice which shines through. I have seen her live at an Adelaide S.A. concert. And Renee is the best..Regards Robert
