Absolute all high lumen flashllights can light a fire. This might be a surprise, but there is really no exeptions. Fenix do it. Nitecore do it, Peax do it. Everybody do it
I find it disappointing that after 9 months of data was collected, none of the data was shared, and the decision came down to personal preference. For all the hype surrounding PEAX, I'm not seeing alot of technical data to back the claim
Typically how long a headlamp can stay at 1,000 lumens is due to its thermal management. The longer it can stay cool the longer it can run at a high lumen setting before having to step down to lower lumen settings. Great review!
Another great review sir! I’ve owned so so many battery powered headlamps and three years ago I switch to rechargeable headlamps, some thing that I have noticed with all of my high-end rechargeable headlamps is that none of them allow you to charge the headlamp while also having it on until I bought the Peax. That feature along with the ultra long battery life and the ability to run a super bright red LED for those long hikes off the mountain was a win-win for me and it’s my number one flashlight as of right now.
Great review man! It's wicked watching your videos keep em up, only problem is the more I watch your content the harder it is to watch others that are supper sponsor oriented 😂
One of my favorite things about the Peax is being able to lock it “off” so it doesn’t accidentally turn on while in my back and then be dead when I go to use it at night
My absolute favorite SMALL headlamp is the Olight Perun Mini 2, bright red LED, 1100 lumens and really comfortable head strap. The larger Perun 2 is even better performance, although larger and heavier.
@@MindfulHunter If you opt for the mini be sure to grab a few extra batteries, I carry four and they take next to no space or any real weight penalty. Both Perun headlamps are just awesome.
Great review! I own the Peax already, but I haven’t had any issues with slippage- mine seems to remain tight while under tension. Worth noting on your comments on the IpX6 rating. It doesn’t mean it can’t be submerged at all, just that it can’t be submerged for 30 minutes at 1 meter. I would feel comfortable rinsing mine off in a creek real quick. Just my 2 cents.
I would much rather have a lamp that "might" set something on fire if I dont pay attention to it than one that will fall down my head every few minutes. I bought the hm65r for my dad last year and its superb except yeah, no red leds...
I did, and I was unable to get anything even remotely like the Nightcore. And the fact of the matter is the other two don’t even really get that warm, and the Nightcore gets blazing hot.
I personally own both the old version and the new version of the Peax headlamp. Did you know the light can be removed/pulled off the plastic attachment peace and be used in your hand than quickly snapped back on to your head? That feature has come in handy many times in the field for me. I have also personally dropped the old version into the river at about 1ft of water while running bright read light and it still works normal… That could just be luck though! I would think the charging spot would be the sketchy point in water if it’s not tightened down properly. The price in the USA is $89.95, but I think your in Canada which based off your review cost more. Good review, keep pushing out good content!
I dont know if its a new model, but the Nitecore NU-50 has a built in proximity sensor to dim if it gets close to something. Maybe they watched your video 😂
@@MindfulHunter it was a no name brand work area led light. The kids were playing with it and left on the couch with light facing down on cushion and luckily the cushion did not catch fire
Liked & Subscribed! Great review man, I'm getting a Peax now and using my old Fenix as a backup for kids...Random question, what office chair is that red one??
@@MindfulHunter absolutely. I agree about the fire hazard as well. Those type of leds need a proximity sensor light the one the o-light developed when faced with similar issues.
Great timing for me, sick of my black diamond storm running out of battery. Was looking at both the Fenix & Nitecore too. How fat is your head though ahaha I reckon I run a bit of a melon too. Not so concerned Re the red light - is that for bugs?
Hold up one more week. I’m comparing the peax against a $20 Chinese one that is identical in appearance. Red light is so you don’t lose your night vision and /or spook animals.
@@MindfulHunter will do. The zebralight h600w has good feedback on it as does the Cyansky Hs6r. All the reviews focus on high power runtime but I don’t know about you but I hardly ever use that. Interested in how it’ll run at like 100 lumens . Cheers mate, hope the cut for your comp isn’t too hectic
Run time can be important if your out in the field Naked with no pockets ! However if like me and wear cloths with pockets why not carry a spare battery? Compared to a car battery at 15,000 grams a 18650 or 21700 is slightly lighter at 50/70 grams and it wony weight you down
Not the lulus 😫 great review as always! I liked how you mentioned the marketing hype behind peax (no one talks about this) - I was waiting for your promo code at the end of the video haha. I have a similar fenix but use it as my backup, I use a petzl bindi as my main because you can’t even feel it on your head and it slips into a cargo pocket nicely during the day. I was also curious what the use case is for a super powerful vs normal red lamp?
Ironically I also had a pair of underwear get destroyed by a flashlight a couple of years ago. When my wife asked if there was something magical about the underwear I responded, No baby, I put the magic in the underwear.
You must have some magical underwear lol. When you had the nightcore on your head while doing your review, did you notice it getting hot on your head or was it just hot from the lamp portion?
Are uneducated to the point that you didn't have any idea what so ever that a light as any brand of this light will set things on fire l mean really every supplier and most reviews I've seen tells you that they get extremely hot on high so your not being honest any of these lites will start fire's on high you gave a great brand a terrible review I personally will not watch you again
