The best game reviewer on RU-vid for sure. Surprised not as many people as there should be, know about him. Already showed him to my friends though. Love the voice too.
You and IGN uploaded a review of this game at practically the same time. Not only is this review more than thrice the length of the other one, but it's also more detailed on every single point and reviews the entire game. IMO 2.5 minutes isn't enough time to meaningfully cover anything. Great job as always ACG.
Karak you really are an exceptional reviewer. I started reviewing things a while ago, and with a bit of practice and polish I like to think they'd be very similar to yours - I wasn't interested in a rating scale as much as a clear conclusion on what the game offers, how it compares to similar offerings and generally interesting things to note about the developers etc. I'm not interested in reviewing any more, though I certainly enjoyed the retrospective for Might and Magic 6 I created. What I'm getting at, to clarify is that I'm not looking for feedback or anything - rather I'm just trying to provide the context for why I appreciate your channel so much since I don't often comment. You're probably the most skillful reviewer I have watched, I'd use the superlative but I'm in the inter-coffee lull right now where I can't be convinced my recollection is 100%. I like Worth A Buy too, for what it's worth. But Mac is more of a "lol haha" entertainer, whereas I'd say you match him on humour without losing your cogency half of the time. Oh, and I like when you comment on graphical effects and options and how they're used in games when referring to techniques the developers have "hard-coded" into their games (i.e. not "lots of options for user to modify" - I think that's probably clear...). It feels genuinely educational at times. Cheers.
I strongly agree. A video that's not even 3 minutes isn't long enough to review a game's gameplay, story, characters, graphics, audio, level design, possible glitches, etc. I'm sure IGN didn't cover most of the game's bases anyway. Whoever did the video most likely played the game for a very short period of time and rushed to review the game. That's why Karak is the man when it comes to video game reviews. He does a thorough review by discussing all major aspects of a video game. Thanks Karak and keep it up!
Love the style, and I'm happy that so many devs these days are paying homage to 70's or 80's stuff, I love those synthesizers and cheap guitar solos that really pushes the cheese ahead of anything else. Also, colors, so many games are bland, with brown or grays colors trying to be realistic, they often forget to be simply fun, be self conscious of the ridiculous circumstances a game can put you in and make fun of it and laugh with the player. Even games like Inside that has a definitely an overall colourless palete are learning to add some colour to it in a smart way. Not sure what's happening, not sure if people are getting tired of zombie survivals or military shooters, but I like the direction things are going.
This is one of the most perfectly designed games I've seen in a long time. Everything just works sooo well together and looks just amazing. I can just listen and look at everything endlessly amazed how it captures the period in sci fi history like Barbarella, Flash Gordon, etc in such a perfect way and yet it's still unique and gameplay is so great too and I normally HATE platforming games.
a great game, love the concept of flying round and being able to occupy all different types of robots, aswell as the puzzling and platforming side of things.
This is the first review I have seen from you and I've gotta say....good stuff here. Very thoughtful and well planned....enjoyed every minute of it- SUBSCRIBED
Great review. This game probably wouldn't have been on my radar otherwise. My plate is a bit full at the moment, but I think I will wishlist this for later.
What a wonderful review. I love your style. It's tremendously refreshing to hear something well and intricately written that pulls the game apart and appreciates it in depth.
thanks man. As I said that sometimes extra bits to the mission can suck the wind out of your sails but if i had been warned beforehand I woulkd have been fine. So this review warns people beforehand so I think you will be fine as well. its a damn enjoyable title
Karak you are right - this literally looks like a game that could have come out in the 70s if the graphics and audio were available back then. I totally got a Black Hole vibe (if your old enough to remember that one guys!) from this. Also, from the video this is just an assumption from me. But this is more or less just a puzzle platformer with some metroidvania stylings right? Which is fine with me of course. Did you play any of this with just the keyboard and mouse btw? If so, how did it play that way?
Great review as always man! With zero bullshit! Are you planing on reviewing Abzu I'm very interested in that game but I'm waiting on your review man. Thanks man and keep up the good reviews.
+ACG nice man! Thank you for your hard work and all your honest reviews. I can't wait for your review of No Man's Sky been waiting for this game for a long time.
This one's reminding me of a good ole 80's game - Paradroid - mixed up with Metroidvania. Sweet! Also some nice Shadow Complex/Strider vibes... Great review, as always, Karak!
Just love how this just oozes that early era videogame art. If you look back at Atari ads, Colecovision, Intellivision, this is the stuff that the cartridge box art was made of. Day one buy, can't wait until tomorrow. Cheers! Love your work man!
totally has a space channel 5 look to it! I'm on the fence having purchased inside and waiting on no man's sky. how long is the game? anyone finish it yet. another great review acg!
Another awesome review for a what seems to be a great game. I had this game preordered since it first came available on the PS4, and I kinda knew that it would be a fun game just from the look of it. Man I just can't wait to play it!
Started to watch IGN's review, saw yours was up...closed theirs and watched yours. :) Love the art style, but doesn't look like my type of game. Awesome review though!
Damn you man and your awesome videos... You're gonna cost me a small fortune! lol yet another game I have to buy cuz you made it sound amazing! :) Thanks for another great vid!
I would've absolutely bought this, as it's only $12 on Xbox One right now, but I just gorged on the black friday sale, so I'm just gonna put this on my wish list for now.
Colour blindness is not viewing things in black and white, it's hard to explain like what's blue to you is different shade to me, but we see all colours. Great review as always.
Is it worth buying then, if you wait longer you may get them at 1.4th price. IS if worth buying then yo could most likely get it for cents on the dollar in various bundles, is it worth getting it now and not years from now free on an emulator when we are running windows xx. The sale mentality is nice but ultimately unrealistic for many who actually want to enjoy a game when it comes out
I saw the IGN review and the ACG review beside each other in my subscription feed. Of course I'm watching this one first. Hands down the best reviewer on youtube. btw First
Wait, was there an actual game involved someplace here??? cuz all these comments are reviewing the reviewer, and I doubt if any of these people have even played this game! I feel like I just sat through a really boring communications class or a PR lesson. Can I have those few minutes of my life back please?
Yep and he explained it well and it matched what many of us played. Admitting you aren't up to the challenge of understanding isn't a bad thing, there is no reason to get bad at him about it or pretend. When you have the creators of the game and their publishers discuss a review as being "the clearest definition of what we were trying to accomplish." then all signs point to you not being able to understand.
