A former junior doctor called the doctor's strikes over Christmas 'morally indefensible'.
Dr Caroline Johnson, the Conservative MP for Sleaford and North Hykeham, said, "the strikes that are planned over the festive period threaten public safety and they will delay patient's treatment, causing patients suffering in the pursuit of money for oneself."

She was a junior doctor … and if anyone knows her she led a privileged life unlike many doctors. She was educated at a private school, her husband owns and runs a “fertiliser” business, currently works part time on a flexible contract as a Paediatric Consultant. She’s never had to really ever endure any kind of financial hardship.

This is the same woman who voted against direct funding towards our children's free school meals

My question to the former junior is: why did she leave her junior post? didn’t she want more money for herself? Shame on you!

Oh the irony... WHY DO YOU THINK SHE QUIT BEING A DOCTOR??? The privilege is oozing once you know her history and background.

Former Doctor joined the biggest trough overflowing with free money in the UK & she knows she will never have to work for a salary or pension again!!

I recall a local LABOUR councillor declaring smugly over his drink that nursing was a vocation and should not expect to be paid much. Place that alongside the demands from these doctors and there is a whiff of humbug amongst the ether!!

This is so funny. Do you know how many staff work in a hospital at weekends, bank holidays and Christmas? The absolute minimum. I think they are more bothered that they will have to be senior doctors bank holiday pay rather than the much cheaper junior doctors pay.

Yes but you failed to answer why a lot of clinics are closed during staff holidays & some wards remain empty due to Hospital Budgets the same with w/ends & other holiday periods the NHS is no longer the 24/7 service it once was & your friends Cameron & Osborne slashed £3Billion from NHS funding in one of their scam budgets whilst Privatising the UK's Ambulance service to Tory Donors

Well the management are so useless when my dad died in 1995 and there were 2 nurses looking after a ward of 31 patients as they had moved some of the nurses to other wards. He died through lack of care as no one noticed he was having difficulties so you understand why with extra staff now I still feel angry

I always though they care and help save lives out of passion and to want to be a doctor and nurse..I understand for what they do they deserve more , but it's the pateints , those that are ill is worth saving than money? Why don't they get a petition so all can sign to surport the doctors wanting arise , so sad to watch a relative suffer, sad to see a relative lay in a corridor for hours ... goverment needs to do something..because as much I in surport but I do not feel sering pateints or ppl suffer because of a strike . .what about ambulance medics, what about fireman ? Its not just doctors who save lives ..I do not believe people have to suffer to put a point across? I understand , but some points I do not ..my appointments just been canceled due to strike starting from 21 st Dec 2023 I was told . I been forgotten about by most consultants these ones do not deserve a rise to not up date a patient or not bother contacting them and there was no strike

Nursing and carework are commitments to supporting others and who are vulnerable and not about making loads of money. Whilst risking lives.

I am currently reading a book by a retired local West Country GP - a long way from the mindset of today's medical personnel that is on display among modern doctors. What happened to "First do no harm"?

Maybe don't use phrases if you don't understand what they mean . The government are the ones causing this. They give themselves above inflation pay rises with no problems.

Disgusting behaviour it’s not acceptable for these people to strike over Christmas It’s money before people

You realise the cost of covering the strikes so far is 1.5x the cost of 1 years 35% pay restoration? These strikes will be even more damning. So the money is clearly there and plentiful The government just choose to spend it covering strikes instead of actually paying the public sector what they deserve

@@Falstaff1893if this is true it is remarkable Most hospitals will have one junior doctor looking after 60-80 patients in their own overnight and may pay them £14/hr for the privilege
