These are brilliant recipes, Sayaka, and very useful tips! I love the lotus root and carrot salad. Japanese mayo and very spicy mustard are great. Here I use own mayo and French mustard. Also Romanian mustard with horseradish. I am sorry I have not watched and commented so much lately, I have fallen ill and will spend some time at a hospital, sadly without any Japanese food.... But I will catch up later with your cooking. Keep up the good work! Your channel is growing and it really deserves it. Arigato!
Oh no.... Are you okay? I'm so sorry to hear that. I really hope you get well soon. Thank you for your kind words and for commenting on my video during this difficult time for you. Please take a good rest, and let's enjoy tasty Japanese foods together when you recover!
I was happy to know WHY carbonated water is recommended. I have a recipe that requires it, but I did not know why. Another great set of recipes from you.
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad you get new info from my video. I will try to make more good videos because your comment always cheer me up!! 😊
You can use the left over ginger in tea, with the weather going from cold to hot to cold here I keep getting a sore through every couple days. So I wish I had some ginger to add to my te lately.
I was thinking what to make for tomorrow's dinner and then I saw your new recipe. I eat quite a lot of chicken meat so I try to come up with different ways to cook it. Toriten looks so delicious. ❤ I'm wondering if skipping ginger changes the flavor a lot? I know that ginger is healthy, but for some weird reason even the smallest amounts of it give my tongue the burning feeling. Also, I'm curious about how much sake costs in the area where you live. Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful and easy to make recipes. I love when you include some additional info in your videos. ❤❤❤ Oh! And on April 8th one of the supermarkets in my town starts Japanese Food Week for the first time ever. I've just saw only one picture of a small amount of food they will have, but I'm so excited already. I so hope to buy as many ingredients and try as many Japanese foods as my wallet will allow so I'll be able to cook more dishes from your recipes.
Thank you so much for your comment. Your comment always cheer me up! 🥰 About the ginger, you can skip it! I think the taste will still good! About the sake, I always buy the cheapest sake for drinking, and use it for cooking. It costs about $9 (1300 yen) for 2000ml (2 liter). Wow! I'm so happy you can visit Japanese Food Week in the supermarkets! That's so exciting!! I'm so curious what new ingredients you can get there 😊 Hope you will enjoy the event!!
@@JapaneseCookingChannel Wow! That's really cheap for that amount of sake. I've just done a quick search online and for that price I could get only one liter of sake. Sometimes I wish I could live in a big city where I could get ingredients in regular stores. That supermarket usually host Asian Foods Week a few times a year, but they mostly focus on Indian, Chinese, and Thai food and ingredients with only a few from Japan and Korea so that's why I'm so excited this time. 😁
Yea... Japanese ingredients must be expensive overseas 😭 I think you can reduce the amount of sake or skip it when you wanna save the cost. Maybe adding a little bit of sake still improve the dish. Hope you will find good Japanese ingredients 😆💕
@@JapaneseCookingChannel Some of them are quite expensive like alcohol, but a lot of them are affordable. For me the availability of ingredients at local stores is the biggest obstacle. It's either ordering online or going to the nearest big city.
Using carbonated water in the batter's a great idea for the texture! The classic English dish "Fish and Chips" often mixes beer in the batter for the same reason. I'm excited to try this!
Wow,a lovey meal and easy to do. Thank you for the tip on the batter even! Yay,im up to date with all that i missed.i always look forward to your videos and discovering easy yummy looming dishes and ideas. Thank you for your time and sharing. P.S - love your grating dishes, will look for these when i am home in Singapore,as i am not one for online shopping as i love to see and touch what i am buying. Also, its hard to get fresh lotus root here, just canned or frozen, not really a fan but i can get it fresh when home in Singapore.
Thank you so much for all the time you must have taken 🙏 Oh you are from Singapore! I didn't know they have a fresh lotus root in Singapore. That's amazing 😆 Thank you for always giving me your warm comments. I feel so happy to hear from you! And hope you will enjoy one of these dishes! Especially the lotus root one 😁
