Mind Over Munch hi I'm on keto is there anyway that you can do a low carb moderate fat little to no sugar options for these restaurants I would really appreciate it
Mind Over Munch do you really think some these are healthy options because one thing you forgot to focus on is saturated fat and cholesterol which cause heart disease and so many of the meals you showed involved meat and meat is high in saturated fat and cholesterol which not only causes heart disease but cancer as well because these foods are carcinogenic. Not to mention the saturated fat and cholesterol cause Alzheimer's disease because it can also clog the arteries going to the brain which causes it to slowly die out. Also the high amounts of fat in these foods will cause diabetes because it prevents insulin from entering the cell causing you to become insulin resistant. Maybe you should just say that these foods are unhealthy because fast food restaurants normally don't have that many healthy options.
2:21 Processed, GMO shit. 2:53 Processed, GMO shit. 3:28 Processed, GMO shit. 4:02 Low Quality meat sources infested with anti biotics and growth hormones. And the list goes on..... Even if these people do lose weight, they're just going to be skinny/unhealthy. Just like I was.
My sister used to work at Chick Fil A and so she knows a secret... you can ask for your grilled chicken nuggets to be unmarinated, that should cut down on the sodium as well.
Lindsay Mayfield You can also get the chicken wraps without sauce and/or meat. So it's basically a salad wrap. And they can have cheese or be omitted if you're vegan. They're very tasty.
My tip: Just don't eat the dressing with the salads. I either ask for lemons and squeeze them over it (if the place has lemons, some do for tea) or I go without. It's really not bad at all if you're used to healthier eating. :)
I would not eat lemons at any restaurant anymore. I saw a study that was done by some microbiology professor where they took lemons from multiple restaurants and almost all of them contained bacteria that was from 💩. Just trying to help !!
A lot of you guys wanted me to go through healthy choices at these places so I hope you find this helpful! Remember- we are all different, with different bodies, histories, health issues, health goals, etc so you need to do what’s right for you. This info is all very generalized and is here for educational purposes- take what you want and leave what you don’t :) Love you muNch!
Great idea, thanks for the suggestion! I have several budget meal prep videos if you're interested :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ysF525OPxTs.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hWtJPeZxgfE.html
I really love your disclaimers to the haters. Lol stop the trolls in their tracks before they can even get started. Also, I really love that I can relate so much to your channel and posts even though my lifestyle is different than most that are subscribed to this channel. I'm currently gaining weight and building muscle but I'm trying to do it in the cleanest way possible which consist of me eating a diet of mostly whole foods and not eating out as much. Ironically some of the options you've listed in this video I usually go for when I'm out and I don't want to miss a meal but I cant get home to eat. Only difference is since I'm trying to gain I usually get two of something (ex Egg White delights) so I can properly hit my macros for the day. I really love this channel and community because it's truly something for everybody out there to live a healthy lifestyle. :)
lol! thank you :) I love that you're a part of this community, I want this to be a space for ANYONE and their journey, not just people on a weight loss journey. We are all here because we want to learn to make better choices and I think we can all learn from each other :)
My favorite part about the video s that you actually try to provide sustenance and by choosing as many healthy options as possible rather than one somewhat healthy option. Great video and editing!
@@elonsmokesbooff7212 Because you sweat it out. Go on a run and sweat let the sweat dry and then you’ll feel all the salt (sodium) that came out of your body.
Excellent video! I would love more of these. Maybe different drink suggestions too? I love to treat myself once a month to a fancy drink, but I don't want to be set back 500 calories and a cavity from all the sugar hidden inside
I have one for Starbucks. I always get a Venti Iced Americano with extra ice, then add several tablespoons of half and half myself. It's delish and no sugar other than lactose from the half and half -- and only about 75 or so calories. If you like it black, then no calories and no sugar but I like it with the cream in it.
I just want to say that finding your channel has changed my life. My mindset on health has changed and your book and advice has help me prepare good food that taste great AND is healthy! You do such a good job of educating and giving examples. Thank you for all your work!
I find for myself if I'm at a fast food restaurant I don't have many options in the first place (since I'm vegan) so... I just accept that it won't be a healthy meal. but it doesn't mean I can't eat healthy the rest of the day.
So true! I think that is a fair approach. We've had a few requests for a vegan/vegetarian version of this vid so I'm going to keep that on my list for the future :)
Yessss I would LOVE one. But I've found taco bell between the US and Canada to be fairly different? We don't have black beans here only refried and then we don't have plain rice only mexican rice. Also we have fries at our taco bells lol
Another awesome video !! Love the beginning with the evil villainous laugh. Would like to see series on heathy ethnic foods! Keep up the great work. You are one of my favorite RU-vidrs and I look forward to all of your creative videos👍🏻
At Subway today I got away with 440 calories because I got oven baked lays original and a veggie delite with parm. cheese avocado/guac served as my hypothetical sauce. I then piled on a bunch of veggies. I at least felt pretty good. Because I had Taco Bell for lunch lol. There I had about 400 calories with a spicy potato taco no cheese and spicy tostada no cheese. So turns out being put in bad citcumstances of two fast food meals in a day can still work out. It did for me. Just gotta be watchful of what you choose to eat.
lol. Alicia you are amazing!! you really knows what happens in the real life when we're are trying to decide what to eat on the go. Good work girl. thanks
Taco bell actually gives you the option to order "fresco style" which replaces all the cheese and condiments with fresher and lighter ingredients, which saves up to 100 calories, this trick really helps when I cant avoid eating out with friends
Just discovered your channel & I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THESE VIDEOS ! They are helping me change my eating habits, and pay more attention to the details like sodium. Sadly I never paid attention to sodium before watching your videos. I love fast food (who doesn’t) but only like to indulge on special occasions, so it’s nice to see some (healthyish) options for when I didn’t meal prep or forgot my lunch!
This is so helpful! I work as a in-home therapist and most of my day is spent driving. I'm not a fan of always having cold meals, so it's helpful to have this option for warm fast food options.
thank you :) Health is touchy, I get why people get defensive. I just need people to recognize that their way isn't necessarily the ONLY way :) Much love!!
Thank you for posting this - We have a fleet of Over the Road Drivers who are limited in their options on the road. Often they have no choice but to grab snacks and meals at fast food chains. Thank you for the clear breakdown! This is being added to our watch -list.
I accidentally came upon your channel! I have Fibromyalgia, recently diagnosed and wanting to radically change my diet. I have food intolerances one being gluten and am feeling like inflammation is a culprit. It's been a challenge to change due to body pain which limits my ability to cook. However, no more, I want to make changes this year and this channel rocks and love your delivery, so much fun! Thank you!
Thank you for being here! So happy to have you here and I'm excited for your journey! If you're having inflammation issues, I do have a free course on inflammation if you want to check it out, inflammationcourse.com/ :)
I'm always so blown away by the amount of time and thought that must go into all of your videos! Taco bell is one of my weaknesses as well, and I'm glad to know that the chicken gordita (YUM) can be a safe choice as long as I don't cave and get the cinnamon twists with it lol
I love this! Make this a series please! You could cover more restaurants, have a heart healthy episode, vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, breakfast lunch dinner etc. so many options for videos! Thank you so much! I really appreciate your work
where i live Subway actually has whole grain bread but of course is a different country and here we are not able to find the italian herbs and cheese or the roasted garlic for example
YES! I lost 130 pounds in a year and the one thing people always say is you must have never ate bad foods and I always say YES I DID but only once in a while because one bad meal/lazy day wont make you gain weight just like one good meal/exercise wont make you skinny its lifestyle changes that matter. It took me a long time to realize that and I'm so glad I did it realy helped me with my weight loss journey and made it a lot easier!
No animal products for me! I just ask them to remove the meat and cheese and load up on veggies for most things :) Cool video. I'd say taco bell and subway are the best options for vegans. Taco bell I just ask for beans in replace of meat and hold the cheese/sour cream!
Your a life saver I took my family to McDonald’s the other day and I sat there in agony watching my brother and wife eat there Big Macs and mcnuggets lol because I didn’t think there was anything low calorie on the menu , this truly helps . Thank you .
Very helpful! I don't really eat at any of these places anymore except Chick Fil A. I admit that I get that fried chicken sandwich, but I don't get it often and I don't put anything on it. LOL! I'm going to try the grilled chicken nuggets next time, though. Thanks! Would love to know what you think of Panera and their clean menu.
I like the way you think lady. All great choices on your list, I loved it. I make these kind of thought too whenever I'm ordering food or cooking now and I went from 233 lbs to 168 lbs to date. God is good.
At Wendy's I like to get a small chili and a side garden salad and a packet of sour cream. I make my own taco salad (sans tortilla chips and cheese) that is pretty good and filling. From what I can tell online it is about 200 calories, 7g fat, 16 g protein, and 810mg sodium, 6g fiber. (I didn't add the calories for the salad because I don't use any of the dressing).
I love getting the Taco salad. It's pretty easy to make it healthy (leaving out the tortilla strips) and the chili itself works so well as a dressing I don't need dressing (some countries at times give a dressing) or the sour cream. Or you can add just a bit of of the sour cream!
waitingforspring317 Does Wendy's have avocado? I would use avocado in place of the dressing. I haven't been to Wendy's in years, mostly because the Wendy's in my town has a reputation for bad service. Lol!
Worked at Wendy's. Salads come with salad dressing packets on the side (as well as most of the extra bits and baubles like nuts, cranberries, etc). Healthiest one was probably the Asian Salad, had bell peppers, vinaigrette, and edamame if I recall correctly. There are also side salads and a plain garden salad that's full size. Wraps are on the small side but alterations can plump it up a bit. Keep in mind wraps come with a mustard sauce and shredded cheese which isn't for everyone. The Jr menu was my friend when I worked there. Usually got a Junior bacon cheeseburger with extra veggies and it filled me right up for about $1.59. If I was feeling pecking still, yeah, apple slices were good. The strawberry salad was good too but got sooooo sweet if I added the poppy seed dressing.
Mind Over Munch Whataburger is INCREDIBLE! And I think it would be very challenging to find something healthy to eat there lol. They just came out with a coffee shake that is so bad for you, but SO DELICIOUS.
Mind Over Munch Omg its a godsend. But i highly doubt anything is actually healthy at Whataburger. Its a Texan's go-to when you're stumbling home from the bar at 2am.
I've started a diet sorta recently and I'm down 30 pounds but found that avoiding fast food is actually so hard bc my family/friends are always dragging me there! Glad to see I can actually eat something once and a while instead of just getting fruit/yogurt. Video was so helpful!
I love the information in this video, in fast food, I usually order chicken instead of beef thinking it's healthier so thank you for another great video.
I work at subway! We do salads and wraps as well. I usually do a rotisserie chicken salad with no cheese and just a dash of sweet onion. You can make the salad the way you want and you can choose to have a little or lot of whichever dressing or no dressing. It’s my favorite. But be prepared. They’re a pain to make so the worker might get a little frustrated...
This is awesome. .. I wrote them all in my note this is a struggle for me I hate the feeling of getting a food that I don't know how many calories in it... and when u get hungry, you just want to eat anything that silent the hunger noises in your stomach. ... highly appreciated
El pollo loco is also a great low calorie alternative. I ate a 2pc meal breast and wing with 2 side salads (no dressing) replaced the dressing with avocado salsa and came out to 500 calories. You can also ask them for skinless breast and they offer steamed broccoli and riced lime cauliflower for healthier side options.
I used to work at Wendy's. This likely doesn't fit all the macro requirements, but I love getting their baked potato (and you can control how much sour cream and butter goes in or BETTER yet, get a chili on the side and add that into the potato) a side salad also works great but you have to watch which dressing to use. Thank you for the video though, this pregnant girl has fast food problems right now and I'm glad to see good food choices from other places I'm not as familiar with.
You should have your own comedy show... that was a great intro! Loved it! Thank you for sharing this info. There are too many times we feel overwhelmed at trying to eat out and we end up eating the wrong things. You show us that there are options!
The grilled chicken sandwich at Burger King is definitely healthier than the cheeseburger. It has way more protein and not that much more carbs and fat. She definitely made a mistake there.
I go to subway and get: Italian herbs and cheese six inch with beef slices and cheddar cheese with all the vegetables on the menu except olives, mushrooms and jalapenos. I go to pita pit and get wholemeal large pita with feta and cheddar cheese, diced steak , and all the vegetables except jalapenos, mushrooms, and olives.
Great video! I usually just drink a green smoothie in the morning 💪 Made with 1avocado 1cucumber 1cup spinach 1cup mango 1cup greengrapes And its sooo delicious only 523 calories!💪🧠❤
I definitely appreciate this video. I have am auto immune disease that gets a lot worse with sodium and I never even check when I'm eating out. Will have to try these meals. thanks!!
You should bring more vegan options! I love your channel, but I can't use a lot of your tips because of that. I would truly appreciate if you could bring more vegan/vegetarian options. We really need, it's a struggle in this fast foods to find something for us. Please, help us. Thank you uuuuu
just don't go vegans ruined the world like when I went to a bull fight all the vegans were crying. and it takes 5 liters of water to grow a almond for almond milk and you don't get nutrients from almond milk like you do from cows plus when you cut a lower the sound it makes is it screaming
Thomas The train Bullfighting is very unethical, you should look up how the cows are treated, I understand people where crying. And not all vegans eat or drink almond. Vegans take up less of 1% of the world and you're blaming them for almond consumption? And if you truly cared about water being wasted look up how much water is needed for a steak/ milk products. And milk is very unhealthy, cholesterol, high fat and hormones greatly outweigh the benefits of drinking milk (if there are any since you can get all nutrients from milk from plant based sources). And I don't really understand what your last statement means?
Subway also has wraps... I always get a 6 inch spinach wrap with grilled chicken, spinach, olives, tomatoes and light balsamic dressing. It's really good.
I work at Starbucks, and although I usually don't get drinks, our coconut, soy, and almond milks are all fortified, and the almond doesn't have any added sugars (at least I'm 99% sure). The soy is the most fortified, and although it does also have the highest added sugar, if you don't have it that often and the rest of your diet is sound, I think it's a pretty good choice. Maybe like once every 2 weeks, I'll get a grande iced soy latte, which is actually only 8 ounces of soy milk (we put a lot of ice in the drinks), and you still get your 2 shots of espresso. You can also add the mixed nuts to the blueberry oatmeal, and skip on the agave. It's what I usually do, and it still tastes good.
Fun fact, you can just use common sense and order only grilled chicken. You don't have to get the sandwich. I've never had a fast food place tell me no
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is everything I've been needing lately. Being someone that's trying to lose weight hanging out with friends is difficult at times because it's easy to feel left out of the meals
Another good option at Subway is the multi-grain flatbread. The original white flatbread kind of gave it a bad name because the white flatbread was advertised as "healthier" but was really on par or even worse than the other breads (depending on what you're looking at). The multi-grain flatbread is made with whole wheat flour (no enriched flour). Ingredients are listed below. Since I didn't know what the ingredient cultured wheat flour was, I did a little research, and from what I can tell it's actually a cleaner alternative to using chemical preservatives. I would love a little help with finding more information about that though. The fat in the multi-grain flatbread is 3 g higher than the wheat, but it also adds 2 g of fiber. If you've seen Alyssia's bread video, she mentions her guidelines for choosing a healthy bread. The multi-grain flatbread (if you think of it as technically two pieces of bread, which is what I would use to make a sandwich) falls just barely outside of her guidelines. The last thing to address is whether or not it provides enough food to feel full. For some people it is not, so go with the wheat bread. For me it absolutely fills me up since I typically add A LOT of veggies to my subs. FLATBREAD, MULTIGRAIN Whole wheat flour, water, yeast, soybean oil, sugar, contains less than 2% of the following: whole wheat flakes, oats, nonfat dry milk, wheat gluten, salt, calcium carbonate, distilled vinegar, chia seeds, amaranth seeds, cultured wheat flour, whole grain barley, corn, flaxseed, whole rye, whole grain triticale, wheat germ, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, baking soda, monocalcium phosphate), enzyme, oat fiber, sea salt, yeast extract, vitamin D2, ascorbic acid, calcium sulfate. Contains wheat and milk.
Whataburger has about 8 items under 550 calories. Taco Bell has a combo 13 power bowl for under 500. It has black beans rice romaine cheese guac etc w grilled chicken. Whataburger has a grilled chicken salad w dried cranberries and apple slices. For 370 plus dressing. I see you agree about the power bowl.
I love this! We're roadtripping from the southwest coast to the Northeast next week and I've been dreading eating. This will make the trip a little better for when we have to eat out!
I eat fast food everyday for dinner I am always so busy but I want to be healthy and active 2 years later Wow I am not like that anymore, I have lost 25 pounds and am now healthy and definitely don’t eat out everyday.
These videos are some of my favorites of the ones you've done. I know cooking for yourself is ultimately going to be the most healthy option for that's not always possible. I'd love to see you cover more fast food/chain restaurants.
I am a larger guy so my usual I forgot my meal bag and we are on the way to the park meal is from mcds. I don't mess with sides I get the artisan chicken no sauce no salt and pep. I also get an extra chicken breast no salt and pep (they come premixed 85/15 salt to pep ratio). Requires 8 minutes of waiting but it cuts sodium by over 400 mg between the salt and sauce. Even with a mustard pack the nutrition is 500 cals 6 fat 44 carb 65 protein. Sodium is high as crap at 1510 which is higher than any single day for me for the last 30 days but it was over 1900 before I cut the sauce and added salt. I am a stay at home dad and I have just learned to prep meals while my son eats breakfast. I usually leave the house with 1-2 for me and one for my son. That way no matter where we are at lunch we are safe. Thanks for the idea of using mason jars for storage. I keep my cooked chicken, sweet potatoes, and rice in half gallon jars. Easy to pour straight to plate or meal prep container on the scale.
Who are these goobers that are hating on you so bad you felt you needed to do a disclaimer. I am sorry that is even something you had to consider doing. Love these intros. So happy to see an educational video! Miss these!
:) Thank you. It's okay! I understand- people get defensive about health. It's touchy! The problem is when we aren't open minded enough to recognize that our way might not be the way for everyone else. I've found it's easier to throw the disclaimers in there than deal with it in the comments :)
This isn't the best option, but you can also ask for no bun at Mcdonald's! And get them to put the 'burger' in a box with leaf lettuce on the top and bottom. Or swap out any of the sauces for ketchup and mustard (like you mentioned in your video). They also have grilled chicken breast (that they use in some burgers/wraps) that you can just buy. They'll put it into a box for you and give you cutlery
Can you do an episode on healthy choices at the gas station? Running late sucks and sometimes that's my only option. Besides jerky and carrots I get so confused on what's good or "okay" to eat at the gas station. Thanks!
