I see his sincerity in his eyes I believe every word he said.. I cried watching this man speaking from his heart.

Why can't he be our President.

this is the message that all soldiers fought and died for it.justice and liberty for all.

Thank you General! You nearly made me cry and I felt represented even though I am not in the armed forces, America is greater because of men like you, I salute you Sir.

Bravo. We need a lot more people of integrity and character like this Lt. General to stand up.

I'm glad that General made it clear that racism is not tolerated in academy and entire military branches. I Sir SALUTE you and all my family at arm's and all who sacrice thier lives.

I'm a white dude who never served but listening to this man speak leaves a lump in my throat. You can hear and see the sincerity when he speaks, almost like a disappointed father. It's a God damn shame we still have to even have this conversation in this day and age.

That's the best speech I've heard in my entire life!

Good grief. What a speech. This man pulls no punches. "If you can't treat people with dignity and respect, then you need to get out."

This is what the Military is for, to ensure liberty and justice for all. His speech embodies that goal perfectly.

Im 69 years old and Retired from the Air Force and ready to Enlist again after hearing his Speech.

But on Tuesday, Air Force Academy officials said that one of the black cadet candidates actually wrote the racist messages.

I felt the need to hear this speak AGAIN, and I have taken EVERY SINGLE WORD TO HEART. I was always taught to do the things Lt. Gen. Silveria spoke of. It is very unfortunate that some individuals feel the need NOT TO adopt this way of thinking to the betterment of all. Being Black, I grew up seeing Racism in its ugliest forms at of all places, an institution of higher learning, yet we see it in our places of business, Government (Yeah the current President - who claims to love our Military), and points beyond. I am proud that the General made this speech to those who are TASKED to protect us and the Freedoms we have, so that they know what it is like to be a true American. I know this because - I AM AN AMERICAN AIRMAN.

This is a very passionate speech. My Father (Willie Lee Parham) enlisted into the Air Force because of their passionately enlightened vision in maintaining peace in the midst of chaos and also protecting the innocence of children of Air Force America, IMy Father had one child and this is me..Proud .of seeing the eloquent Air Force Veterans speech and watching the General make this speech to prevent bullying is awesome. The Air Force General is guiding his cadets with intelligence and knowledge of Goodness which is seen within the heart, mind and spirit of his team. Absolutely beautiful ❤️

AF Vet truly moved. General Silveria, Starting at 18 years old, I served the Air Force honorably from 1986 to 1995. There I learned about leadership, about how the Air Force becomes your extended family while serving. I learned about how people become friends, learn to love, marry, and have children with others from all parts of the world, from all races, from all belief systems. Our backyard barbecues in base housing at Dyess AFB were models of an integrated society of all types of people marrying all types of people, and it was very cool. I left the Air Force and I never forgot what that looked like. I never forgot the EXAMPLE that the Air Force set for me, and it became a permanent and powerful foundation for how I see others and the value of treating each other with dignity and respect. It drives me to reach out and connect with others in ways most people don’t seem to be able to do. I am not an emotional man, but I was overwhelmed with the leadership you displayed, and that you demanded every other leader under your command to be an overwhelming component of your messaging that day. You brought me to tears, tears of hope that our foundation of tolerance is still intact and still being taught to future leaders. I wanted to personally thank you for publicly and resoundingly delivering your zero tolerance, “get out” message. I felt compelled to personally contact you, to find a way to reach out. Just as our military must always proactively remain strong to keep our nation safe, so must our leaders remain strong to protect those that are vulnerable, that are different, that are unjustly treated. I also watched a follow-on interview with you, and again watched you stay on message even as reporters tried to take you off topic. Bravo. My pride in our country has taken quite a few body blows in recent years. You restored more hope in one speech than you could know. Thank you for your words, the way you said them, and the way you meant them. "We can confirm that one of the cadet candidates who was allegedly targeted by racist remarks written outside their dorm room was actually responsible for the act," the Academy said in a written statement. "The individual admitted responsibility and this was validated by the investigation."

Why would you be outraged by words? This is the military isn't it? Not some safe space.

Your speech is beautiful with a simple message. I listened to it 4 times and all 4 times it made me cry. “Love thy neighbor as thy self.” if you can’t do this without reservations get out of the military, because here we depend on each other. This is the only way it works because in the military “We are all Brothers and Sisters of the same family.”

Needed a General, Colonel, other officers to speak out. I gave a speech in 2016, when I awarded my P.H.Medal at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. It was long past in coming. Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. Thank you General!

They reported this to no avail for a week last year, but when they found the person responsible they lost interest and only informally followed up. A Black cadet (name kept confidential) admitted to writing what they called the graffiti. Before he admitted to it, they called it racist slurs. They finalized the rhetoric as a "Hocks gone wrong" Lt. Gen Jay Silveria Never apologized for his verbal lashings of the white cadets, who he directed to record his lashing, as a warning. He punked out of an apology owed with "You can never over-emphasize the need for a culture of dignity and respect" Or in other words even though he was completely wrong with his premature racial judgment of his white cadets, they needed to know they will be less tolerant of white cadets.

So was the cadet who did this charged with a hate crime? Hate is hate regardless of your demographics.

I served in the USAF in the 1980s. We NEVER EVER had a racism problem at Kirtland AFB. Everyone got along. No one ever put anyone else done or treated them less due to there race.
