Bernie wrote some great words but this is my favorite. Even better it’s being performed by my favorite band with the most overqualified backup singer ever.
In the early 1980s I was a slave to addiction and homeless for 3 and 1/2 straight years on the streets of New York City this amazing song has a profound effect on me. This performance is amazing in resonates and wakes up every cell in my body and brain
The world shall never truly appreciate the brilliance and talent of these two women! How many artists could execute this cover so flawlessly? So beautifully? Or their cover of Stairway to Heaven at the R.R.H. of Fame? From rockers like Barracuda to Kick It Out to the complex building melodies of Magic Man And Crazy On You to the subtle haunting emotion of Dog And Butterfly. Decade after decade they reinvent themselves. Their pure unadulterated sense of muse and melody is just astonishing!
This was a joy to watch and listen to. One of my favorite Elton tunes performed by my favorite First Ladies of rock and roll. Doesn’t get much better. It’s always nice to hear Nancy sing lead too.
Blood harmony alone is a phenomenal thing, but blood harmony with voices like THAT is a thing beyond description. I can only imagine what it's like to stand in front of these two and hear them perform unmiked. I'm sure anyone who ever has has never, ever forgotten the mind-blowing privilege. Two of the best rock performers EVER. 💙
One of my favorite Bernie Taupin songs performed by one of the most under rated talents in music, Heart. Thank you for sharing, this made my afternoon so much better.
I thought Elton's version sounded impossibly beautiful, then I heard this one. Hearing two voices carry this melody is magic. Nancy's voice is as lovely as her face.
This is from the 2002 Summer of Love tour, AKA "Alive in Seattle" DVD/CDs. I was quite fortunate to catch when they passed through NYC on this tour in '02.. Our city was still in mourning, shock and a plethora of other things as this wasn't even a year after 09/11.. This song would've brought up 'the feels' on its own but Nancy's gentle demeanor when dedicating this song from her, Ann & the band, brought it to another level.. I personally will always be grateful for this dedication being part of the entire tour rather than just a tune played when in NYC.. And yes, I still get the lump in my throat.. TY for that much needed 'tune' A&N.. 🕊
I met both sisters at the Heart Concert for their Dreamboat Annie Tour in DeKalb in "76?" at NIU! Great Concert and they both played great and looked even better backstage!
The 1:30 mark when the harmonies begin is amazing. It's nice to have a song that have Nancy singing and Ann playing guitar. These two are sensational. It's as if Robert Plant and Jimmy page were women and sisters.
@@marshallgeorge3819 She is a great singer but when your bandmate and sister is arguably the greatest female rock singer of all time, you're going to be somewhat overlooked.
This makes me both cry and laugh. Few realize Nancy Wilson (the blonde) is married to Almost Famous writer/director Cameron Crowe who featured this Elton John song prominently.
