So happy with the new SubD tools! Very very useful and it doesn't crash or freeze up my old laptop like Clayoo has done in the past. Also thanks for the handy GemBlocks. This Block thing is new to me...can we create our own GemBlocks too? RhinoGold won't be supported anymore very soon because GemVision/Stuller bought them (and RhinoGold doesn't work for me in Rhino7). I was thinking of trying to copy and library-ify all the elements and settings while I can, but having them in the toolbar format sure would be handy.
Yes, you can make your own using the things you mentioned. You'll want to do some home work on the Block command and working with blocks and how to create and manage toolbars, but Rhino has everything you need to make your own libraries as I have in the video without needing any additional plugins or developer tools.
Yes, the gem blocks toolbar and the associated 3dm file work in Rhino 8 for Mac. Use the Options command and go to Toolbars to open the RUI in the zip folder download in the description. Then when you first use one of the icons on the toolbar browse to and insert the 3dm file with the gem stones as 'objects'. Post to the forum please if you need more help. discourse.mcneel.com/
I tried doing this exact same thing with the radiant square gem but when extruding the girdle it doesn't make a perfect bezel like with the heart. It's like the bezel is open and doesn't follow the shape of the stone. Help please?
I didn't get why do the holes in subD isn't produced identical with the deleted faces? Is it depends on smoothing degree? Also the way of ring shape it opened up after deleting faces is strange!
do I have to import the block every time I start rhino? the first time it worked great, the next time when I want to insert a diamond it's asking me "Name of the block to insert (file=No):"
I'm working with a Mac and I'm having a problem. When you did you extrusion and holds the SHIFT and CTRL to make the loops of faces in the other direction, I just cannot find it on my Mac. CMD doesn't work and I'm getting frustrated because I just cannot change it. What do I need to do?

Great video, thanks for the tutorial. My bend isn't working like yours... the edges follow the ring rail but the center goes past/below the ring rail. I've tried trouble shooting but can't figure out why! I will be able to fix by hand in wax or metal but it's bugging me I can't get it right in Rhino
You might just need to insert a few more edges so that those edges can be deformed with greater accuracy. Otherwise you could try posting some examples of your problem on our Discourse forum discourse.mcneel.com/ where we can better help.

you may have to click the advanced option in the link and select something like "Save anyway". My guess is the https was left off of the front of the link so your browser is blocking the connection.

Looks like this was caused by a Chrome setting as far as I can tell. I changed the link and now you get warned about the safety of the download but can still accept it in Advanced.
You could load them into a blank file and then save that as a new Template file with SaveAsTemplate. Alternately, you can run specific commands on each start with the Options command > General > Run these commands when Rhino Starts.
