If you don't get choked up when listening to this do you even have a heart?! Even Robert Plant, who has said that he hates this song, had tears in his eyes. The drummer is Jason Bonham, son of the late LZ drummer John Bonham. The bowler hats that the choir and Jason were wearing was also a tribute to John who loved to wear them. Every single thing about this performance is epic! So was your reaction. ❤️

This performance took place at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors, so just about nine years ago. After the performance Robert Plant stated that he HATES covers of Stairway... except this one. The electric guitarist is Shane Fontayne who has toured with just about everybody and for several years was the bandleader for the Kennedy Center Honors. The drummer you see is Jason Bonham, son of original Led Zep drummer John Bonham. The other Kennedy Center Honor song you need to check out is from the 2015 honors for Carole King when Aretha Franklin sang "Natural Woman" and brought the house down. Even President Obama teared up a little bit.

@@TeaTimeWithTravis Its also funny that Robert invited Jason to join him and his other "uncles" John and Jimmy in the balcony. Jason apologized and said unfortunately he had a previous commitment. In a slightly different version of this, they introduce Jason and Robert points at him like "I see what you did there!!!" So some of Plant's emotion was seeing his best friend's son in his dad's bowler playing his dad's drum kit. And killing it.

That "crack" is carefully orchestrated. Notice it doesn't happen on the way INTO the note - but at the end as she's coming out of it. It gives the "roll" that final punch of drama. There are no flies on Ann Wilson. She knows exactly what she's doing by letting her voice crack like that. She was pitch perfect up to that point. Thinking a "crack" is a "crack" is a mistake. LOL!. She should have gotten an Emmy for that performance. Too bad there was no album of the event because she deserved a Grammy as well.
