Those of us who listened to Heart when their albums came out did not just listen to 3 songs. You could throw a dart at any Heart album and play anything it hits. You will be impressed. Amazing music, musicians, and that voice.
She does have a sexy voice. It sizzles like water on a hot skillet. Nothing wrong with saying that at all. To not point it out would be remiss, especially in a reaction forum. The sound elicits that reaction. And she pulls it off with ease. Ann Wilson's vocal range is incredible. Her live video performance of Barracuda really shows her confidence and she just oozes sexiness. And I am saying this as a heterosexual woman. It is undeniable. Nancy is right there with her, killing it on guitar. Two of the most talented women in rock n roll. Heart never gets old.💖
Ann and Nancy Wilson are simply LEGENDS, and are among the greatest rock goddesses ever. The debut album Dreamboat Annie, followed by Magazine, Little Queen, and Dog and Butterfly contain so many superb classics, stunning instrumentations, and under appreciated ballads. I even got to see them Live in Philadelphia back in 1976. Love these ladies. 🥰
Ann and Nancy couldn't have done those great rock songs without the rest of the band. Founder Roger Fisher was the guitar genius and rock soul of the band. Michael Derosier on drums was fantastic as was Steve Fossen (co-founder) on bass. They were rounded out by Howard Leese on keyboards and second electric guitar. After Roger and Mike Fisher left - Ann steered the remaining members (who soon left) straight on to pop music and ballads. Ann and Nancy have tried to re-write history as them being the founders and leaders of the band "Heart" - but they were not during the glorious first years when Heart were a kick ass rock band.
Obviously the band was steller on its own, but with out those sisters they would have never made the success they did. All in their group were talented. But the Ann and Nancy gave them a delicious identity and creative input. Musicians are meant to be in the background.
"Straight On" is on the _Dog_ side, actually. On the _Butterfly_ side, you should definitely react to the title song and the song that closes it all out, "Mistral Wind."
"Kick it Out" & "Heartless" were 2 other great tunes from their '70s era. Not too long ago in the early 2000s Classic Rock stations were still playing more hits from rock acts, not just their top 3 songs.
Heartless by Heart is one like this with a very driving groove. I would suggest you check it out. Even up is a great Rocker where they added a horn section with a baritone sax to drive the rythem with the guitars. Both great rockers.
Hey guys if you like that one you’ll probably like “Hyjinx”too👍It’s kinda got a more dark mystique to it and a killer groove and Ann’s vocals are just…well, showing everybody why she’s Ann😁Oh and her and Nancy’s doin’ the “hoo hoos” too!😆🤣
There is no doubt that the 70s are indeed a top contender for the best decade in music history. The range is simply outrageous, from the creation of Heavy Metal, to Arena Rock, to the early Disco grooves. Hell even country acts like Dolly, Hank Jr.
I think most people know that Ann is one of the great female vocalists of her generation, but Nancy is a pretty amazing singer in her own right. The sound of the two sisters singing together is incredible. I heard you say you would play Barracuda, but from that same album - Little Queen, one of my favorite songs of theirs "Say Hello" is unique, and I would be willing to bet has never been reacted to. Heart had a "reboot" album during the late 80's hair metal era, and they had some huge hits with the 2 albums they put out at that time. "These Dreams", "What About Love" (which is a cover of a relatively unknown outside of Canada song by the group "Toronto") and "Never" were all pretty substantial radio and MTV hits from their 1985 album. Titled "Heart" It was a #1 Billboard chart album. They followed this up with the Bad Animals album which had the number #1 cover "Alone". I'm not a crazy fan of Hall of Fame/Kennedy Honors stuff, but when they did the Led Zepp Kennedy Honors show, the Wilson sisters did Stairway to Heaven with John Bonham's son on drums, and it absolutely floored everybody. It's worth watching sometime. These women made a lot of great records, and had a lot of hits across multiple decades. I've heard they are still quite good live.
From an 2002 concert, Heart performs this with Dave Navarro….Amazing and Badass! Love y’all style. Sub’d. Never leave out Nancy’s vocals a d hard hitting Acoustic Guitar.
OMG When I was young I wanted to be Ann Wilson. If there was time travel that would be first on my itinerary. Well second, I'd go for wardrobe girl for Robert Plant for like 2 weeks. You guys are really fun.
HAD to come back and watch again! It’s so hard for us long-tern Heart fans ‘cause y’all are missing out not watching them live! Ann’s ad libs and Nancy dancing while playing guitar And “seeing” Nancy’s vocals! (Edit) just looked at Crazy & Magic - OMG, You’ve not seen these beautiful, sexy sisters!
This was their ode to Disco, especially the long outro jam. '78 & '79 were the two years when Rock bands put their spin on the Disco movement before the backlash by 1980.
@@alisonmontana8895 No kidding. I was a teen in their '70s heyday. This song was their contribution to Disco. It was funky & has a danceable bassline. Most Rock acts came out with a Disco tune back then.
One of my favorite albums from Heart is The Road Home, a live album released in 1995, is the fourteenth album overall by the rock group Heart. It chronicles a club performance in the "unplugged" style - but with strings - in their home city of Seattle. This song Straight On is done so well on this album. They really emphasise the bass with a funky sound. You should check it out. Great reaction.
Hey y'all! I can't believe that you are doing this song! It is in the top two of my favorite Heart songs. I hope that all y'all enjoy it as much as do. Rock On🤘
The Live version of Mistral Wind will always be my favorite, followed closely by Just the Wine and Sylvan Song / Dream of the Archer. Ann’s voice is timeless.
The 70s were incredible! The 8s pretty much sucked ass for heart. The girls Fired one of the best Rock bands Ever! And they never recovered. They became a garage band.
That whole album is extraordinary. I particularly like the Butterfly side. If you liked "Straight On", "Mistral Wind" will really leave you libidinous! Anne screams and you must obey.
Pass the Kleenex Nick, cleanup in aisle 1? Ann Wilson was drop dead gorgeous with a powerful yet sultry voice. Barracuda is an absolute rock banger and classic, their best known and their best. Heartless, Little Queen and Kick It Out are also excellent.
I saw live in Texas, Six Flags over Fort Worth in 1983, outdoors, in July, 20 feet from stage and they jammed out for 2 1/2 hours, what a great show they did. So yeah I'm fan. For the love of God man, do some Liliac guys, you won't be sorry, yelling from the 606 guys.
I actually always loved this song more than the most popular ones, but that's probably because I'm old enough that we use to listen to the whole album at a party! It added to jamming for hours in the groove! Music is everything! Great reaction! 👍
I'm definitely a HEART fan. Was part of the soundtrack of my high school days. I'm not sure I want to smoke a "long cigarette" while listening to it (cigarette holder), but this is definitely one of my HEART favourites. Well done, Boys.
"Heartless," "Kick It Out," "Even It Up" are earlier rock songs, would love someone to do "Dog & Butterfly," harmonies and acoustic, Nancy really shines thru. ❤❤
Great selection and reaction to Heart, and thank you for breaking the reactors "bubble" of Barracuda, Crazy on You and Magic Man. Straight On was actually the last track of the "dog" side of the album. As a lifelong fan of the band, I highly encourage y'all to listen to their softer acoustic "butterfly" selections, esp the title track, Dog and Butterfly. Ann and Nancy's vocal harmonies are exquisite!
Great choice digging deeper into Heart, guys! Going even further into the "Dog and Butterfly" album, the absolute must hear is "Mistral Wind". This is the track that truly showcases their individual and collective talents to the hilt. Stunningly powerful vocals and guitar wizardry make this one a deep-cut classic!!
Heart went a little more commercial in the 1980s. The group's first No. 1 single, "These Dreams" from 1986, actually featured Nancy Wilson (not Ann) on lead vocals. It's a dreamy (pun intended :-) ) slower-ish to mid-tempo ballad.
Not sure if you're interested in the tribute to Led Zeppelin, Heart performed Stairway to Heaven, amazing amazing amazing. Must mention, Hearts other radio singles were Magazine, Heartless, Little Queen, High Time, and maybe even Hijinks? And of course Dreamboat Annie.
Love Alive is Zepplenish piece, Kick it Out, Even it Up, Dog and Butterfly, Heartless, High Time are good songs from their first few albums. The mid to late eighties is when they racked up the soft rock hits Alone, Nothin at All, These Dreams, Never and All I Wanna Do is Make Love To You
