A recording of "Heartaches" that is very, very similar to the more popular version sung by Al Bowlly, the version that The Caretaker sampled. I can't find much about this specific recording, so this may be the only online upload of it as far as I know.

Given the sheer number of "Heartaches" covers, it is interesting to see how many different takes there are on the song, even if some are similar. I feel like this version is slightly more similar to the original track than the Al Bowlly cover, so it's like it's a transition state towards the Al Bowlly/Ray Noble cover.

Ray Noble was not the Orchestra Conductor on Al Bowllys Recording, but actually Sid Phillips, another famous British conductor, who's son is a successful drummer who has played with bands such as Toto, strange isn't it?

This reminds me of a song the Carebear used in EITBON stage 3. Sounds and gives off the same vibes as Hal Kemp's "Midnight, The Stars And You"!

Sam Lanin's "Famous Players and Singers", under an alias. Recorded on January 26, 1931. Also released on Harmony 1279-H and Velvet Tone 2309-V. Vocal chorus by Paul Small (as "Chester Leighton").

Chester Leighton is almost definitely not a real person and not a real orchestra director, the name has been used by various band leaders during the early 20s on various Columbia Dimestore Labels, like Velvet Tone, Harmony and Clarion, some band leaders that have used the name Chester Leighton are Ben Selvin, Fred Rich, Sam Lanin and a couble others. Sam Lanin being the specific conductor of this recording date.
