Kenny Loggins has been a superstar with dozens of great songs with Jim Messina and on his own. Jim was initially going to be just his producer though sat in and played on this special song and album. By the time this song and album became such a big hit Jim and Kenny became a duo for several years with some of the most memorable songs in music history! The song was a tribute to his brother and sister in law as his nephew was born!Try these other songs from them such as House at Pooh corner, Vahevala,Angry Eyes, and Watch The River Run!They were still amazing live 30 + years later in concert upon a reunion tour!
Thank you for this. One of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. So simple and everything's understated, from Loggins' vocals where at times he's almost whispering, to the great instrumentation. Always makes me feel at peace.
One of the great duets of the 70s. Dive into their pool, it's deep. Treat Your self to the rest of their music. Simply start with their " Greatest Hits " album.
I have a fond memory of seeing Loggins and Messina, 50+ years ago when this was a new song. I've always loved this song and still do. Thanks for sharing it.
Loggins (Kenny) had a bunch of solo hits after his time with Jim Messina. Big movie hits like “Footloose” from movie of same name, “Danger Zone” from Top Gun, and “I’m Alright” from Caddyshack.
Another artist name that deserves all the compliments I know you are going to have for him/them. Kenny Loggins.... My personal favorites from this talented artist is up tempo - "This Is It".... and to make you cry.... "Now And Then".... "For The First Time"
“Footloose”! Kenny’s second cousin Dave Loggins has a great song called “Please Come to Boston”. He also wrote “Pieces of April” which was recorded by Three Dog Night - a fantastic group that seems to be missing from this channel. JMBOY, you should start your TDN journey with “Joy to the World” (not the Christmas carol) and “Never Been to Spain”. Trust me, if you do one of their songs you’ll be inundated with suggestions. They were HUGE back in the day.
Please consider reacting to these: 1. Loggins & Messina, Be Free (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rEBrkjtufSg.htmlsi=H13Kup2D9Vj8CopN). This will take you on a journey you're not expecting. The first time I ever heard it was when it was used as the musical backdrop for a laser light show in a planetarium (which was kind-of a "1970s" thing, so you may not even know what that is, but it was definitely super cool at the time). It includes some wonderful mandolin work by Jim Messina. 2. Kenny Loggins, Leap of Faith (live from the Redwoods) (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AvhVSgqgAu0.htmlsi=ErIiPtfKrTzXTO60). There is another video of him performing the same song, live, at a different concert (at the Grand Canyon), and I can never decide which one to recommend because they're both wonderful. But I'm recommending the Redwoods version because I absolutely LOVE the guitar solo in the middle, played by Chris Rodriguez.
