I fell in love with this song covered by Canadian songbird Ann Murray. It was years later I heard the Loggins version and was surprised that he wrote it. Love this song!! ☮️💕 P. S. - Your musical tastes amazes the heck out of me!!

When my wife and I got pregnant, ahead of knowing the sex…we chose the names Danielle if a girl and Daniel if a boy. When the doc confirmed we would be having a boy, this song was playing in the lobby when we left. Brings a smile to my face everytime I hear this song.😎

As a Danielle myself, I appreciate and approve your story. Lol Oddly enough, even though the name Danielle has been a fairly popular name for decades, people occasionally still pronounce it, Daniel. So there ya go, best of both worlds....sorta. 😂

So glad to see Ty again. Yes, I have always loved this song and Kenny's voice is just spectacular in it. Love how the music grew and the addition of Messina's harmonizing toward the end. Anne Murray's version is beautiful as well. She has one of the most pure voices you will ever hear and has a large volume of songs herself. She is a hidden treasure that no one seems to have caught onto.

GUYS... You MUST do "Whenever I Call You Friend", which is a duo that Kenny Loggins does with... (wait for it)... Stevie Nicks! The song is pure, raw vocal talent by both of them. The song is in the no-synth, late 70s style like this song was. You'll all love it, guaranteed.

Jim Messina is a GOD. He was in Buffalo Springfield, and Poco. Kenny went to him with "a pocket full of tunes" in like 1971 to produce Kenny's songs. Jim got so involved in it and sang and played, that accidental duo Loggins & Messina was born. They are legend!

What's crazy is that he wrote this as a teenager and when he auditioned for Jim Messina this was one of the songs he did. You guys need to watch the interview of Jim talking about when Kenny showed up at his house to audition; he didn't have a guitar; he didn't have tapes, nothing. He just showed up with a notebook of songs, Danny's Song being one of them. The rest is history!!

They had a lot of great songs such as "House At Pooh Corner", "Your Mama Don't Dance", "Thinking Of You", "My Music", "Angry Eyes", "Watching The River Run", "Vahevala", "Lahaina", "Sailin' The Wind", "Pathway To Glory" etc. "Danny's Song" was written by Kenny Loggins as a gift for his brother Danny for the birth of his son Colin. Jim Messina was the producer on what i believe was Kenny's first solo album, but ended up adding so much value to the first tracks with his guitar playing and vocals that Kenny and he ended up as a duo for several albums. The radio tracks and the deep cuts are all stellar. I saw them live in 1974 and it is one of my favorite concerts ever. Ballads and rockers! My favorite all-time L&M cut is "Watching the River Run." Magic voices and some of the best musicians on the planet doing their best playing. And it's got flute, Ryan!

I just found you guys a few hours ago and am really enjoying the song choices because they bring back memories of a time when music was real! I'm a 60 year old man and I really enjoy your reactions. One thing I've learned is you seem to really enjoy a good sax player and recently I heard a song from 2 people (one playing the sax and another playing guitar) that has no words but it speaks a language that only my soul understands. If you get a chance, look up Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart doing a song called "Lily was Here". The video I'm speaking of is a HD 1989 video where she is wearing a reddish brown leather jacket. I told my daughter if I'm ever in a coma, put headphones on me and play this song continuously. If I don't come out of it, then just unplug me. I think you'll enjoy it if you haven't already heard it.

Love me some Jim Messina. He was originally an A&R man when Loggins was working on a demo (I think). Loggins needed a musician to play with so Messina stepped in. They have great vocal harmonies. My favorite album of theirs is Mother Lode. So brilliant. I always thought that Messina helped Loggins in some of his musical excesses. They were great together. Messina used to be in Poco and I love their music too. You should check out Rose of Cimmaron...such a great song.

Regarding astrology and the zodiac, of course there is "Year of the Cat" by Al Stewart, which you guys reacted to and loved! (In Chinese astrology, it's the Year of the Rabbit, but in Vietnam, it's the Year of the Cat.) ... And there's also: 1) "The Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" from the musical "Hair." The Fifth Dimension had a No. 1 pop hit with it in 1969. 2) "Float On" by the R&B group The Floaters (1977, No. 2 pop song) features each group member starting his verse by mentioning his zodiac sign (Aquarius, Libra, Leo and Cancer). 3) "Gemini Dream" by the Moody Blues (1981, No. 12 pop). 4) "Cool Change" by the Little River Band (1979, No. 10 pop), which features the lyrics "I was born in the sign of water." 5) "Jesus Was a Capricorn" by Kris Kristofferson (1972), which has clever lyrics! 🙂Hippies and the groovy people of the 1960s and 1970s were especially big on horoscopes and peace and love and harmony and astrology. "What's your sign?" was a common question to ask people and/or a common pickup line at parties or at bars.
