Some comments: - The fact that the comms system jab is used on a valid target, then you can now use it in obscured operatives. - Proximate firepower makes kraks and frags great in this team
Old edition you cant move and shot with rotardy and with magna rail, now a little less damage but you can dash and reposition, is a rebalance not a nerf in my opinion 😊
You actually could move and shoot with the old magnarail, it just took 2 AP to do so. If you buffed your gunners APL, or used ancestors are watching, you’d get to move, or even move dash before shooting.
@@lucadallabella8583now you can’t find the target before your opponent already killed your other operative. There is a reason why heavy guns beside snipers rarely seen play in the old edition. And now it’s doing even less damage! Especially if the opponent team has a way to negate piercing or degrade your Hit stat.
@@lucadallabella8583 even though the rotary cannon lost ignore obscuring, gaining heavy rep. is definitely a buff. However, the rail gun being heavy dash means you can only move 3” before shooting it. In most cases, it takes 2 turns of set up with that operative to get it in a position to actually shoot. Before, all you had to do was either buff the rail-gunner’s APL to 3 with a kinlynk to move and shoot, or spend a CP to shoot for free with ancestors are watching. While, yeah, you needed to spend a CP to shoot it, the railgun was basically an infinite range melta gun that could guarantee crits with grudge tokens. You were essentially spending a CP to kill an operative. Now, it’s got worse mobility, and worse damage. Dev 3 and piercing 2 is still a pretty disgusting weapon profile, but it’s been knocked down several pegs from where it used to be.
Interesting pick of weapons and not the rotary cannon the extra hits taking advantageof high grudged units. This is my second frav team currently (themed as chaos votann made by the mad votann of lore) and im super excited for this video. Thanks again for making these videos you legend :) After Gellerpox you would have gotten all my main teams. Its cheaper to get every killteam in the game than 1 40k army and kt is way more fun.
Ancestors are watching: Shot/throw grenade, Charge, Fight/Knux is better than charge, fight, shoot as to take less damage in melee or more likely to kill them in 1 hit Also peak a boo (dash, shoot, move (relocate) out of LOS)
Very good video as always. Sad that most horde type teams are nerfed but the elites have been super buffed. The only thing I disagree with is no helmets as you need to see those grizzled angry beardy faces.
@@Ulfhednir9 That is how I intend to play it, but I can't see such rule anywhere (having said that, I have to admit, that sometimes I'm blind) - operative cannot be obscured by heavy terrain within 1", but beam is not referring to obscurity.
Great video! Thanks! So already played them a bit. My thoughts are as follow I'm not sure on always taking the lugger now. The equipment is nice, but it isn't that great. And since we can not do mission action t1 the -1ap for mission actions doesn't feel that powerful. I might swap him out. The hylas rotary is fine against teams that you can use the torrent against, having ceaseles still feels powerful for consistency. Anda against teams that aren't 3+ saves it aint a bad a option i think Losing the reduced damage while in objectives feels huge. A crap ton of things that didn't one shot us now, now do. Basically 8 to 9 wounds is huge, no surprise, but it is the biggest nerf i think. The plasma knife nerf also kinda hurt, since it basically is a no factor most of the time now , since combat goes like i roll, i get a single success since it only 3 dices, i get the success parried and the dwarf is gone. Idk, i think the went a bit overboard with the nerfs. The team overall feels like is still playable because recon is powerful, not because the team is in a good place.
I'm fine with them, id argue they still cut into elites just fine with grudge tokens and heavy ap throughout the team. The jumpack lost boost, but with the extra inch of movement, they are only losing out on 1" of movement, and they no longer have to go in a straight line, which came up sometimes. The 10" charge range is insane and now you can give them a grenade. Overall, teams fine id say.
I like the changes to them, lost some things gained some things funny new strategies ( take a lugger and then choose the extra equipment from the initiative for a total of 6). the only problem is making a list since there's so many operatives to choose from.
I think they nerfed phobos, who used to spend a cp per turn for bolter discipline, now they spend 1cp per turning point to access their faction ability to change from conceal to engage or back, which is basically the same as shouting "hey shitass I'm setting up an ambush pls keep going into the firing line" at the beginning of the turning point, I would prefer not to remind my enemies the peeps in cover can pop their heads out to shoot then shoot again or reposition. also they can't use their commander to create a cp to spend on it, and can only use the free ploy from tactical advantage on firefight ploys and not the strategic ploys, so can't get a free Guerrila Warfare the same way they got a 1apl bolter discipline, and even if they could it's once per battle because tactical advantage sucks. they are easier to play now, if you wanted to use them as bad intercessors rather than the tactical strike team you're meant to play as then you're in luck, but their changes make the team harder to play if you know what you're doing, no more move, shoot conceal for free, they do more damage but are more exposed in turn so you're really relying on getting kills early. if I wanted to play like this I'd bring angels of death and take a sergeant with a stalker bolter for the two shots on the heavy profile because Astartes doesn't seem to cover it even though it's basically a bolt sniper rifle, possible oversight there
In my opinion HS got nerfed really bad. I don't know if they will still play well, considering the change in the meta and in the other teams, but damn this nerf are hard. Grudges got nerfed thanks to change in obscuring, ancestors are watching has been nerfed, it used to ignore injured. Granadier has been nerfed a lot, just the fact that you can't no longer make him move-dash ancestors are watching at 2+ with proximate firepower remove so much of his threath is disappointing, since the enemy can clearly see you coming and you hit far less hard. The gunner of a mainly shooting team have been nerfed hard too: HYLas Rotary is now kinda useless, and the nerf on the magna rail is disgusting. Also, where are my goddamn auto-calibrators? GW just got a big page dedicated on the book.
@@albertolaratro5956 while I agree with most of things you said it’s kinda weird that you think the rotary is useless. It lost one attack, but gained +1 normal dmg and a torrent profile. New ceaseless is better, and saturate is a good rule now. It’s more mobile with Heavy (Reposition). Torrent profile is a nasty thing in close quarters if you have 2 targets close to each other. I mean, comparing to the auto-rifle, rotary loses rending in favour of saturate and one extra attack dice. Plus it’s slightly less mobile, but I think it’s a good tradeoff. Also looks way cooler.
The team has lost a lot of its movement tricks, the jump pack guy used to leave climbing gear to help the gunners get the high ground and the lugger i think used to let you walk hrough a terrain piece.
Someone in the GW hates salvagers. Just Wtf, as if salvagers were THAT oppressive in the last season. Magna rail just got nerfed into oblivion, why? Pointy-eared space pirates kept their wraithcannon with same damage while also being Heavy (dash) AND better BS. That should go straight into the book! Mobility has been nerfed for no reason. You can’t cut through the terrain anymore. Climbing rigs is a joke fr. well you can get the standard 6in move, but only if you climb something taller than 2in. It looks like a downgraded ladders. I also disagree that Rotary cannon isn’t worth picking. It’s reposition only now, making it rather mobile, therefore better chance to utilise the buffs from the proximate. Also don’t forget that on ITD the torrent profile can be quite a surprise with that sweet lethal 5+ on a two targets. And that “buff” for warriors is a final insult. You don’t have space for warriors in a list, so we’ll take away your melee survivability from the last dataslate and place it to the most useless operative.
They were quite oppressive at the end of the edition, damage negation and stopping all pre game movement was too much. Cutting through terrain does suck but you now charge 7" instead of 6" Maybe, I'm still not sold on new Rotary
