Heartsteel Kayn Skin Spotlight - League of Legends 

Not sure if anybody noticed but they changed the sounds a little and added music to the third ability and the ult. Not sure if it was there before but it wasn't noticeable in the pbe video. THAT DOES SO MUCH FOR THE SKIN! It's quite simple and could've been louder but I'll happily take it Edit: YES! They did amp up the volume on the music, making it a lot more noticeable now. Super happy about it!

i love how rhaast scythe becomes more of a bass guitar and can be seen playing it during skill cast while shadow assassin you become more of a vocalist

The skin got bug fixes and that's it. They didn't take any feedback into account. They need to stop asking us for feedback they do not care.

I honestly really like the dynamic of Kayn and Rhaast in this skin. There are definitely going to be people who wished Rhaast was more prominent in Darkin Form but he's an alter ego in this skin and those are typically part of an artist's own personality rather than a completely different one (think Eminem's Slim Shady) and the dynamic of Rhaast and Kayn being 2 different people fighting for control is already part of base Kayn and Odyssey Kayn so this is a very fresh take on the character that doesn't stray too far. I really like that both Darkin and Shadow Assassin are just Kayn's own internal turmoil of trying to prove he's good and that his old band kicking him out was a mistake. Rhaast being the more toxic side of himself that constantly pushes him to be better while Shadow Assassin is what he wants to be. There's self-doubt and repressed emotions but also a drive to be perfect and prove he's the best, all the edgy angst of a young punk artist.

Kinda wish that he has some smoke effects when he uses his E or Ultinate like that scene when he went through a wall in the video

I really loved the skin, but the fact that Rhaast's transformation had fewer lines due to being an alter ego didn't sit well with me, if that were the case he should HAVE more lines with Kayn so this would be more evident, when is Rhaast lines, the sound have effect and when it's a line from "base kayn", his voice loses its effect, it seems like the skin has a dubbing bug, even in the SA form I didn't hear Rhaast speak once in PBE

This skin is really good, it has nice VFX, SFX and animations, but... I really don't understand what happened to his hair, it looks nothing like how it usually does in the MV or promotional art :/

I understand that its an alter ego and all.. but there is so few Rhaast lines that could make an impact. It just feels.. Weird without him. Skin looks astonishing but the little amount of rhaast lines just kills it for me

Im absolutely in love with this skin. The character interactions and voice lines are awesome, the emotes are all original to the skin, his idle animation, his attacks, his recall, his death and his transformation. Rhaast representing his old self that had a grudge for being dumped by his last band rock n roll band, with heavier sounds, the scythe being a bass, but still maintaning the silhouette and the colors palette of the original one, showing that its still Kayn not a completely different being. And the assassin being sort of him embracing this new part of his life, allowing him to be more flamboyaunt and colorful and have fun, have emotions, including the insecurity of not letting people see that he hurts too, being a vocalist, letting himself be heard. And then you see the other skins and its like... Some of them have one or two original emotes to the skin, some dont have special interactions, most of them kept their original voice lines instead of making new ones that made sense to being a boy band, some dont have special death animation or arriving/getting revived at the base animation, some didnt even had the dance or any performing sort of bit (looking at you Sett). Its like Kayn skin was the first where they went all in with all the power they had and they kind of got tired ( or out of time) and made the others half arsed. The characters have great personality and looks and material they posted online showing things that could be put on the skins to make it fun and they just ignored all of it after making Kayn, it feels like. Aphelios is pretty well done too, not as good, just good enough. But lets face it, the character doesnt have voice lines. I love the skins and I love the song and the animation and all the social media bits, I think thats why seeing them in game felt disappointing and flat.

He still looks like he's laughing after he's done laughing, great. And Shadow Assassin W still just disappears, it's there one frame, then gone the next. It looks so off, ALL his other skins has some type of fade out, Base and Soulhunter W clone turns into a shadow, Odyssey Kayn's scythe spins into the ground, Nightbringer and Snowmoon both fade out. So why does this (Legendary) skin make his shadow clone just disappear, like someone's just pressing delete on it?

Why does Rhaast's hair clip through his hood in his idle animation (hood seems very attached to the top of his head normally) and why are alot of the voice lines still Kayn while in Rhaast form? Other than these two things I noticed, skin looks great, I like all the diff skill animations like when SA uses his W he holds the mic close.

For everyone curious about what Rhaast and SA represent in this skin (got this infos from rioters twits): Rhaast is Kayns alter ego, like a lot of rappers he created a persona to let all his wild instincts run wild on the stage, Rhaast doesnt completely replace Kayns personality when he transforms cause its not like the normal kayn got killed, but Rhaast has a lot more power over his mind and talks way more. Shadow Assasin is an alternative version of Kayn that stopped listening to Rhaast, so I'll give a more complex explanation with some personal reflections as well. Kayn in this skinline is a talented rapper in a tough spot, he got expelled from his previous group and tries costantly to hide his feelings behind his bad boy looks and expressions, while desperately craving for a chance to prove himself, prove that he didnt deserve to get kicked out of his old band, that he deserves fame, that he can be better than everyone else and in a few words be perfect. And thats what SA is, if Kayn didnt join Heartsteel and found a group of friends that understand him and let him have fun and be wild on stage in his Rhaast form, Kayn would have probably rejected Rhaast, seeing him as the reason of his failures as an artist and fully focus on the rational and techincal part of himself, striving for ultimate perfection. So we got a Kayn that followed completely this path and became as he says himself "the perfect performer", he trained his whole life for this, thats why his ego is so big, thats why he doesnt joke around like Rhaast, he stopped seeing music as something fun and started seeing it as a way to show that he can rise above everyone else. I think people who underestimate this skins forms and label them as "low-effort" didnt give a single tought about how well they managed to portray Kayn in a completely different scenario of what were used to. I love Odissey, its been my favourite skin in the game since release, but as insane as it is, it just takes Kayns base concept and improves it a lot setting it in a better scenario, with better voicelines, interactions, ecc without really taking the extra step of exploring further possibilities of what Kayn and Rhaast could be. Thats why even tough I still dont know if this skin is gonna replace Odisseys spost in my heart, and I like Odisseys voicelines more, I appreciate so much the work Riot has done to create this new version of Kayn. I think we Kayn mains are so lucky that we got so much love and effort put in the skins for our champion and we got so used to be one of Riots favourite babies that we stopped being thankful for it and started focusing only on the small things that we dont fully appreciate. As a last note: skins have a maximum of memory they can occupy and its not really high, since those have to be shown in game even if someone is playing on the potatoest pc ever, so if something you wanted is not in this skin that you think it could have been "easy to add", they probably tought about it, but decided there were more important features that needed that memory space.

I've come to enjoy this skin, but I still have no clue what his shadow assassin form is supposed to be. In the mv we see him as normal Kayn, with a short appearance from Rhaast (which if I'm understanding this correctly is his persona for when he performs). Is SA Kayn his... real form? Him without the need of a persona? Him without the group? I'm genuinely confused by the concept

idk why people are all of the sudden whining, this skin is INSANE. whether it's the bright crazy vfx or the animations or the models themselves. all it misses is a revive animation but the skin size was too big which makes sense. there's no way they were 'lazy', this skin is the opposite of lazy. insta buy for a kayn main i think, unless you just hate the concept.

Very wierd skin design. Feels like a stretch making Rhaast an alter ego. Would have been a more compelling dealing if Rhaast was a Pentakill member, shadow Kayn was a KDA member, and regular Kayn was Heartsteel. Three bands in one skin and thematically appropriate.

There's no way he got the evelynn treatment as a legendary skin with the hair edit I'm legit talking about his hair being not the same as his splash or his music vid lmao you guys went off on something else XDDDDD

Disappointing that you hear Kayn talking most of the time when you are Rhaast , especially in emotes. Prolly won't get this skin because of that alone. The fun of Kayn is that it's two personalities clashing and bantering with eachother, and you can choose which one to lean into. Even in this setting where Kayn and Rhaast seem to be present together, it feels so wrong hearing Kayn come out of Rhaast's mouth, especially seeing as Rhaast seems to not exist when you are Shadow Kayn for some reason??? The skin concept is cool, just unfortunate that so many details don't make sense even in the Universe's lore, and somewhat defeats the point of Kayn and Rhaast as characters.

the chromas are so disappointing, and base form only looks good on default. why are ruby and event base forms basically the same? at least odyssey had a good bit of variation. i get that its 3 skins in 1 so chromas are a bit harder to do, just do 2 different chromas in a skin that compliments the other. example: all the heartsteel skins get 8 chromas with event and half of them are dark colors, kayn gets 4 with event and its all fucking pastels. only the blue and gold chroma BARELY makes either form actually look good.

2 things annoy me here.. no respawn animation and the different hair.. other than that 10/10 skin

Rhaast feels extremely underwhelming. Like the whole idea is thats he's his own personality, he's not part of Kayn, he's fighting to take over the body, ao picking him and still hearing that much of Kayn is so disappointing

I really don't like the running anymation, feels off and weird. And the fact that Rhaast speaks too much with kayn voice is a bit off too. But the skin over all is pretty good

Isn't Kayn's scythe suppose to indicate which direction he's gonna exit towards at the end of the ult? On this skin the scythe always points to the right. Also the dangling microphone at the end of of Blue Kayn's scythe is lame they could've done what they did with Pentakill Karthus. Full o' Ls

I am terribly disappointed with the SA form. What even is the lore behind it? It doesn't appear in the MV and just feels like an afterthought. The hair being green is also a very strange choice. Rhaast keeps to the original colors of the skin, being yellow and purple, but SA is green for some reason (?). And also on the point of his hair; why did it have to grow so much? I thought it was a cool idea to give kayn shorter hair, since he for the most part has long hair, apart from odyssey. Giving him a wolf cut or something similar would have worked better imo (I'm aware that they need it to be longer for gameplay clarity, but it could have been shorter still). I'm also really disappointed in the chromas for this skin. They're way too saturated and bright. The base skin has a good amount of dark, with SA even having some black/grey. But the chromas are all white for some reason. They just feel like a bunch of star guardian chromas really, especially the event one.
