Ok, this is not for all plier handles, or for everyone, but still works for some pliers, I do like the feel of it, and I will try different brands and let you guys see how they turn out, and use them to see if it holds up, and shout out to beerdrinker6452 he said to try this, and I like it!

When you did the closeup of the ends it looks like you got the better version with the adhesive on the inside...That is some good stuff. My 50 year old tools will be getting some new grips

I like the Thomas & Betts heat shrink tubing the best, it is usually thicker than the stuff that I have found on Amazon, my local welding supply store carries it so easy to get, plus I have a account there!

Thank you for trying my suggestion. I was excited when I saw the title of this video. Nice video. I leave the bottoms of the handles exposed just in case I want the metal tip for tapping. I measure and cut the tubing before application. I have put two layers on some pliers. I only do this to user tools, not wall hangers.

This looks like a great way of marking tools in a shared workshop too! Just use 1 inch of your favorite color on each of your tools and voila, you know instantly if Cletus is using your damn hammer again

Reporting back after trying this on a few tools. It works excellent! Also, great for DIY insulated screwdrivers in case you want to make affordable electrician screwdrivers if you're not subjected to NEC Nazi codes

I’m sure more than one person mentioned using shrink tube. Next set leave about a 1/4 inch it will wrap the end better. This stuff looks pretty thick compared to the 3m stuff I suggested.

Yea, you did, and I did not mention you, but you are one of the most knowledgeable people that has commented on my videos, I should give you more credit!!!!!!!!!!!

@@djstoolrestorations No problem,I’m not looking for credit just glad to help. I’ve been buying and collecting tools for about 25yrs so I’ve ran across a few things. I pick up tools a lot like you do so it’s always interesting to see how another mind goes about repairing or refurbishing them.

I have used Surgical Tubing, I put a light coat of Vaseline on the handles to help put the tubing on.

Bed liner? I have some aerosol bed liner. Is that what you put on a pipe wrench? I want to try that.
@djstoolrestorations

Yes it works, but a little ruff on the hand, but if your tools are muddy or slimy it works great. I use it on tool like pipe wrenches that I do plumbing with!

I would think so, this is what I use on my welding leads, and my extension cords, but you do what you feel comfortable with!
