PC heat sink
Demonstration of how a heat sink of a personal computer, PC or computer works.
Due to the Joule effect, since there is resistance in the circuits of a microprocessor, heat is generated as electricity passes through.
This heat is released from the microprocessor through a heat sink, which consists of a fan and a radiator, generally made of aluminum and/or copper, since these metals are very good conductors of heat. Between the microprocessor and the heat sink, thermal paste is placed, which is a type of silver silicone, which conducts heat very well.
I do a demonstration by passing an electric current through a nichrome or nichrome wire coming from the heating element of a hair dryer. The objective of the experiment is to prevent the nichrome wire from melting while the fan is nearby, blowing air to cool the excess heat of the nichrome wire.
Heat sink:
A heat sink is a passive heat exchanger that dissipates heat from an electronic or mechanical device into the surrounding air or fluid medium. It is commonly used in electronic devices such as computers, LEDs, and power transistors to prevent overheating and improve performance by efficiently transferring heat away from the device's components.
Nichrome:
Nichrome is a non-magnetic alloy of nickel, chromium, and sometimes iron used as a resistance wire in heating elements, such as electric ovens, toasters, and hair dryers. It has high electrical resistance and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures, making it suitable for generating heat when an electric current passes through it.
Heat:

It flows spontaneously from hotter to cooler objects and is commonly measured in units such as calories or joules. Joule heating:
Joule heating, also known as resistive heating or ohmic heating, is the process by which electrical energy is converted into heat when an electric current passes through a conductor with resistance. It is described by Joule's first law and is used in various applications, including electric heating elements, resistance welding, and the operation of electric stoves and toasters.
