Heat Transfer - Conduction, Convection, and Radiation

This physics video tutorial provides a basic introduction into heat transfer. It explains the difference between conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction occurs when heat transfers from one material to another by direct contact. Touching a hot stove is an example of heat conduction. Heat flows from a region of high temperature to a region of low temperature or from hot to cold. Materials such as metals and diamond conduct heat very well. Wood and fiberglass do not conduct heat very well and are called insulators. still air is an insulator. Convection occurs when heat is transferred through a fluid in motion such as moving water or a wind. Hot air rises and cold air descends due to difference in density. Cold air is heavier than hot air. The last method of heat transfer is radiation. Heat from the sun travels through empty space by means of electromagnetic waves such as infrared, UV light, and visible light.

If air doesn't conduct (implying collisions) how does greenhouse theory work then? How does the atmosphere transfer heat by convection if it doesn't conduct and the non-greenhouse gases don't radiate? It is said to transfer by collisions (conduct) Something is wrong. Air must radiate.

It is amazing that air is a poor thermal conductor (0.024 kcal(IT)/(h m K)]) and is equally is a poor IR radiator - only the 1% of it ( the GHGS) radiate (absorb and emit infrared radiation). That means 400ppmv (parts per million volume) CO2 and 1300 parts per billion(!) are doing the thermal transfering. Yet we are told the radiated GHG air molecules collide with the 99% non-GHG (oxygen and nitrogen) to transfer heat by convection - when they (by the numbers, thermal conduction) cannot thermally conduct (well). So what gives?

8:12 the nitrogen and the oxygen in the air are assumed by greenhouse theory not to radiate infrared, so you can't say ' in fact every object with a temperature above absolute zero radiates' when it is assumed by greenhouse theory not to; nitrogen and oxygen get their heat only from conduction (collisions) which you have shown not to happen also. Physics has a problem and I have the solution to all this.
