Do you have a cold garage? Winter is coming and if you're like me and work on projects in your garage, you like it to be warm during the winter months. In this video I show you step by step how to install an electric garage heater. It's super simple and you can save a ton of money by performing the installation yourself. All you need is some basic tolls and be comfortable working with electricity an in a breaker panel.

Wow. You didn't shut off power to the house before working on the breaker panel?

Nope. No need to. There’s still power in the breaker panel with the main off. I’d have to pull the meter to make it totally dead. I do this regularly. E-1 Master Electrician in my state.

Early on you mentioned you need 10/2 Romex to power the heater. The heater needs two hots for 240v and no neutral. If you use the white wire in the Romex as the second hot, would you tape the white wire with red tape on the ends?

Can you set the heater kick on at a certain temperature?

It doesn’t have a specific temperature setting shown on the thermostat but I’ve learned pretty quickly where the setting for 60 degrees is this winter which is pretty comfortable when it’s 18 outside. I think there’s a model above this one with a remote and digital thermostat
