I have Oxford heated grips on my touring bike and I ride all the time, only when there is snow on roads I don't. Last summer in July I was in Norway, up in the mountains. It was 3 degrees there, two hours later it was 25 :) Heated grips are useful even in summer.

I have White Finger Syndrome, and during winter months when temp is anywhere under 12 degreec C, my fingers go white, numb, painful and stiff. Heated grips are an essential part of any motorbike i ride. I must say, i also got the Gerbing heated jacket, and warming the body core helps hugely in keeping hands warm as well as you're circulating warm blood.

I have had Oxford heated grips on my bikes for many years, best investment ever for me, I don’t like wearing thick winter gloves, no feel on the controls. The only slightly negative is at first they feel a little harder and bigger in diameter to normal rubber grips but that feeling disappears after a few rides, then when I jumped on my one bike that didn’t have heated grips the standard grips felt a lot thinner.

Not just the warmth, I find these grips to feel better in size and texture too. So happy I did it. Oxford Premium Adventure. I can definitely testify that I’ve pulled over on the highway before to warm up my hands because it was too cold for them. Now I don’t think I’ll have that problem anymore! 💪

I don't think I've ever come across anyone who has ever regretted heated grips. Even on a +20C day, a little bit of rain and damp gloves can suck a lot of heat out of your hands in the wind.

I realized that with heated grips and wind protection, the best gloves are summer gloves because the heavy insulated winter gloves also insulate against the heat from the heated grips. At 5 deg Celsius or lower, I can ride comfortably with my light summer gloves and heat level 1 or 2 (out of 3) while with the winter gloves I have to keep at max level 3. And as you said, the comfort and dexterity of a light glove is just no contest.

Again, another great video. Heated grips are great for the summer. Was riding on a really hot day (35C) then got hit by a huge thunderstorm and the rain was COLD and froze my old man hands. Next day I bought some heated grips. Just a warning. IF you put heated grips on and go for a test ride then turn the grips up to 100% while driving hard and fast in the twisties you MAY not be able to hold onto your grips and have to figure out how to slow down while negotiating turns using the tips of your fingers only. LOL. I was was wearing light racing gloves at the time and wow did that heat transfer into my hands quickly. P.S. I have the exact same grips as you have. Nothing better on the market.

I was one of those "only riding in the summer" type of rider...when I realized that the summer was much longer with heated grips! I have the Daytona on mine and yes, they do get warm. Really warm! But that button on the grip, which I thought was so nice, is quite annoying. I don't know how many times I have turned it off or changed the settings while riding. The Yamaha ones are better in that case due to that recessed surface where the button is.

My bike comes standard with heated grips which work so well they're almost too hot on the highest setting, but when it's really cold, that's not enough. The back of my hands get cold, especially when at speed, but 12 volt heated glove liners, boot liners, and jacket liners all plug into the bike and it is amazing. If you like heated grips, you'll love the full electrified experience.

It is a matter of control of your machine. Many serious consequences when you don't have it. Also some good therapy even on a fairly normal day. I've ran them for 36 years now. I won't consider riding without them. Arthritis, carpal tunnel, rain, they really help. You have to figure wind chill. Anything less than 70F or 20C you are getting cold and limiting circulation. Take care. Good fortune in Russia. Beautiful place and big. I'll yell at you from the Aleutians. Oxfords are great, 130F pretty warm.

Oxford makes good products. I started over 20 years ago with their overgrips in velcro then moved to the current fixed model. You're missing out if you haven't seen, tested or installed aftermarket Whites Heated Grips on your bike. Easily the most efficient and unobtrusive-looking set of heated grips, 5 heat levels, automatic cutoff if battery voltage drops below 13V (to not drain bike's battery) and super easy install. I've installed them on my wife's Ducati Scrambler and two of my bikes. All controls are beside the l/h grip - no need to mount an ugly control box on your handlebars.

It's a great video, but I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. I have had heated grips on previous bikes and they all suffered from the same problem. They are great at heating your palms, but are of little help heating your fingers and finger tips in particular. When I am riding and my hands get cold it is never my palms that get cold, it's my finger tips. Nowadays I use heated gloves that pay special attention to heating your fingers and not the palms. It's a great video in any case and a very valid point about the dangers of getting cold hands when riding.

Heated grips (and the Oxford ones) for sure is a MUST if you ride anywhere but shore-side at equatorian countries ;) I do however not agree with the "mount stright to the battery" argument. Of course you should mount a fuse to the system, preferably stright after the battery-connection. Even if the controller is "intelligent", it will not prevent a potential very bad situation if the cable is shorted (cause of bending, scratching etc) between the battery and the controller if a fuse isn't connected.

When I put the newer advanced model on my current bike I was thinking that 9 heat settings are a little bit overkill for heated grips but they are pretty useful because you can choose really exact temperature. Btw, I was wondering why you decided to put the controller on the right hand side together with the throttle. Isn't it more comfortable on the left clutch side?

O boy, There we go again. I own a pair 20 year old Gerbing electric heated gloves. Ok, riding the whole year around. But when ever i have another bike one of the first things i do is connecting the 12 cable to the battery. Electric heated gloves are so much better then heated grips. Tenfold better. But you have to experience this. But it is true. When you have nothing then you will become miserable very quickly. Your hands and feet are cold the first. Your hands even sooner. And this can be even dangerous. I have to glue some leather on the gloves because they are completely worn out. But for the rest still perfect. So i have to figure out how to glue leather to leather. If that is even possible. 7 years back i had forgotten that cable and was driving in Romenia. Somewhere in a mountain area. Had bad lock with finding a camping and found myself driving past midnight. It started to rain and also to become very misty. I was to late to put the raingear on because i was somewhere on smalk and dark road. To afraid to stop. I got soaked to the bone. And so cold. So terrible cold. I would have given everything to be able to turn the heated gloves on. Hands were so cold that it became dangerous. And it is true. In that situation heated grips would have saved me. So your advice is very good. But if you ever have tried heated gloves you never want to go back to heated grips alone. Also the heated insoles are heaven. When you have your hands and feet warm then this makes all the difference.

Hi Pavlin, can you make an affiliated link to the Renthal-Handelbar you are using? Cheers and thank you for the Oxford-Video.

Sorry to say, but I dont agree. Most important, is the Barkbuster. It protect, both the vind, temperature, and in a Down.

I think that you will change your mind when you have to ride in a cold days. Hand guards, with good wind protection definitely work well, but without the heated grips they will be pointless in a cold days.

@@motorcycleadventures Just to clarify: I only object to the prioritization, not to the heat handle itself. I have experience from 3 continents, with all possible weather conditions. On 1 of my bikes, there is the same oxford heated grip. And a big THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS ! :-)

no. this guy saying thats its some sort of deal breaker for the heated grips to start heating when the engine turns on? I have been snowmobiling for 10+ years, snowmobiles have heated grips and they do NOT stay on while the sled is off. If people who ride snowmobiles in winter whens its really really cold dont complain about that then a summer motorcycle rider has no excuse

This is probably a very nice thing to have, but you did not explain the SCIENCE behind it ! Why the GRIPS, and not a heated jacket.... Will the heated grips cover all the needs of getting warm ?.....
@motorcycleadventures
@motorcycleadventures Год назад
Heated jacket, gloves, or vest will be good to have, but grips are more affordable and easy to use.

@@motorcycleadventures Sorry, I didn't formulate correctly. I ment - the grips can replace the heated vest. If u warm up the PALMS of ur hands - the blood, circulating there, is going to warm up ALL the body ☝️🧐
