Now in HD. And still no cheesy music or titles! The video shows Heather Dorniden falling and still winning the 600-meter race in the 2008 Big Ten Indoor Track Championships.
If she had just won, she would've been forgotten a day later. Instead she fell, got up and fought against the odds and won and now she will inspire millions forever.
Why would she forget it a day later? Lol. This would've been a great accomplishment regardless of the fall.. yes the fall makes it more memorable but I don't think she'd forget the next day when you train your whole life for this
*She got up and decided to run even faster and take the win.* No regrets, no excuses, no second thoughts, just pure clarity, self-confidence and a winner's mindset.
@@dakotaridge literally everybody still remembers this day. It's still continuously spoken of. I don't get what you were trying to point out, but you are COMPLETELY wrong.
@@homersimpson8414 If we could learn to harness our adrenaline then we’d really bring new meaning to the expression fight or flight; I honestly believe we were meant to fly; in this world and in the next;
The most "sport" in it was her teammate which didn't "just let her" win but fought to the end. Actually, initially it was Dorniden's mistake during overtaking - but of course her comeback is the most unusual and inspiring aspect and the thing to learn from this race.
This gave me chills! DORNIDEN COMING DOWN THE STRETCH FROM THE OUTSIDE! DORNIDEN COMING ON STRONG! DORNIDEN FROM ALL THE WAY! DORNIDEN! YES! YES! SHE DID IT!WOW! UNBELIEVABLE!
This is emotional for me and a lifetime lesson as well. Though others may have trip you, betray you, forsake you and left you behind to die in your pain, shame and missery, know that there is more inside you to make it to the finish line as a winner. Never give up.
I show this to ALL my physics students each year for motivation in class and with life. I actually have a hard time showing it every year because I am so touched by this performance. I agree... tear inducing when you frame this performance to the broader lens of life in general.
@@Heart2HeartBooks and good lungs. Adrenaline dies out once the race is over and immediately fatigue takes its place. But she looked somewhat fine for doing such an amazing feat
This is what heroism and humility look like, no mocking, no celebration, no "showboating". It reminds me of an old saying "It's better to be a warrior in a garden than to be a gardener in a war." This woman should be held up as a role model for all of us.
I hadn't heard that saying in more than 40 years...you're on spot...although, it also depends on who that gardener is. But this race is as cool as it gets.
Finally, a video, with phenomal quality of said race. Kudos to the uploader. Just to give a measure, of difference, up to seing this, I had the impression, the star painted on her left cheek, was a bruise caused by her fall. As for the race itslef, the achievement is, as many times mentioned, UNBELIEVABLE!
This has always been, and will continue to be, my favorite video on RU-vid. Just to add something that isn't mentioned much in all of these awesome comments. .She didn't just fall, get up, come back and win. She fell AT THE START OF THE FINAL LAP, got up, came back and won, making it even more unbelievable.
Fine example of 'never give up attitude'. Very inspiring and emotional. The feeling that you get by succeeding after crossing an extreme obstruction with determination is amazing.
This was used today as a visual representation in our Sunday Sermon “even though she fell, she accelerated and WON the race” to God be the Glory! I love this so much
Just came from the clip of the fall.. this gave me chills watching!! Great job ladies!! She wasn’t even breathing heavy or anything!! Amazing!! Just goes to show ya when ya want it, sometimes ya gotta get up and take it!!
and the greatest thing about this astonishing performance is the look on her face right after shes come back and won it. 1:41. as if shes saying "knock me down and I'll still win. no big deal..."
Ummm, no its let go and proceeding further. Doing the samething over and over is a one way expecting different results leads to failure. Tomas edison stole most of his ideas so gtfo.
This is the most empowering thing Iv seen in a very long time. When you fall in life, you get up and run even harder !!!! Give it all you got and you WILL make it just like Heather!
Love how shes not even out of breath like her teammate after that power sprint, I bet she got some adrenaline after the fall and felt like she was flying.
This is a true champion of champions..my 11 yr old is so inspired by this athlete...I hope this young lady continues to achieve greatness...we are her #1 fans ❤
I get all the feels every time I watch this video and then the video in which Heather talks about what happen. Heather performance is why I love sports.
Actually, there are many races more inspirational. Check out Dave Wottle in the 1972 Olympic 800 final, or Lasse Viren falling in the 10,000m final, but winning in world record time. These girls ran a pedestrian :32 for the last 200, so catching them wasn't that hard.
Thanks so much for posting this high quality video. I don't recall having seen it! The race is still going viral over 14 years later, but usually without acknowledging the amazing athlete's name. Now I can re-post and give credit where it's due: Heather Dorniden is inspirational.
it shows true grit that nothing will keep her down and she wasn't going to stop until she actually finished, then she grew wings I swear and blew past everyone, a real champ
Lifelong spots fanatic - and this was one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen. Adrenaline rush? That much better than her opponents to begin with? Pure will? All of the above combined? Congrats Heather Dorniden. The more you think about it, the more inspiring it is.
Thanks for putting this in HD and letting this speak for itself without commentary and music; it's something that speaks for itself and universally to us all.
Thank you for this high quality video. Heather - thank you for your incredible motivation. Hopefully millions see this video and millions are as motivated as I am right now to get up when I fall down and to give 150%, to get up and finish the race as a winner.
Adrenaline is a hell of a drug! I love how even at the end, she's just standing there casually while her teammate and other competitors are practically doubling over in exhaustion. She's just all "yeah, that just happened." But man, she's going to feel it after it wears off, lol.
That was a amazing finishing kick. And let's not fail to acknowledge the assist given by her teammate when she (the teammate ) successfully boxed out the other runner. That teammate could've sprinted to the finish, but she held back .
I'm reading a book by Dr. Tony Evans titled "Kingdom Prayer", he used this as an analogy, so I stopped where I was at, and came to RU-vid to see it for myself! My Lord! ❤
Imagine if she had not fallen. Irony is had she not trip she would have still won but not doing last lap as she did had she not fallen... Amazing... That's Why They Say Never Give Up, Never Quit Thanks for sharing in higher definition...
Can you imagine BEING THERE? Can you imagine SEEING THAT HAPPEN? I am sitting here in my living room, watching it on RU-vid....and I am screaming/cheering. Imagine if you were there!!! I seriously don't think I would believe my eyes. I'd be like...What just happened?
Just came across this video the other day, shared it with my Great Niece who runs track. Thank You Heather for showing us were there's a will there's a way
Sometimes I wonder if people like her did not fall, if they used the energy to completely pull away to begin with, that they would make unbeatable records. How do you go from a 7 second deficit to winning? Inspirational!
this clip gave me inspiration! YOU GO GIRL!! i got teary eyed...proof that no matter how many times you fall (or pushed down), get back up again and GO!!
Iv'e watched various videos of this particular race hundreds of times, and i'll keep watching various videos of this particular race hundreds of times more until the day i die!
