They have no chemistry whatsoever!!!!! what got me mad was on 2:15 after her high note she gives him a warm kind hearted smile and he looks at it and looks away not even acknowledging it! like at least make her feel comfortable dude jfc
+Lizzie in this musical though, he's supposed to have the undertone of being in love with veronica. like he's not just crazy, but he's crazier because he's in love. the guy who plays JD in this video completely takes that atmosphere away from this heartfelt song.

Guys this was right before Barrett’s last (or one of her last) Heathers performances. There’s a good chance she was more sad than uncomfortable. Also performing in front of a few people is different than performing in front of a huge crowd.
This guy looks like he's hard to build chemistry with. I don't know if Barrett what getting really into character or if she was just uncomfortable. Everything I've seen him in so far, he just seems like a solo guy, like he doesn't want to be around people or doesn't want to share a spotlight. I don't know, it's just a view. I'm sure he's kind on the inside, I wouldn't know. I don't like his vowels though, while singing, especially in 'tonight'. Ryan and Barrett had enough practice to match vowels while his seemed really narrow compared to Barrett's open space. But I'm just getting choral here!!! I should stop before I pick out anything else.
Cecilia Grunge I agree with you on that one, I very much enjoyed Ryan as JD! The understudy that plays him in the bootlegged version, Dan Domenech, is great as well! They both blew me away!
XMyChemx4xLifex idk i liked him. I can see what you are trying to say. But i think they sound nice. Barrett does over power him at certain points, but its obvious she has practiced alot when it comes to singing.
When listening to this without watching it, I loved it. But once you watch it it's so clear their lack of chemistry. Did they have a fight right before they sang this? They look so uncomfortable to be near each other.
ElementheaFall being in a relationship should have nothing to do with your acting. when you act, you aren’t yourself anymore, you are your character and in this sense, his character is insanely in love with Barrett’s character. so even if he does have a girlfriend or s.o., he should be putting that aside and playing JD. Either way he’s not doing that and its just bad acting
Ryan is the best J.D... i dont know who this guy is but he lacked chemistry in this performance, i don't know who he is as i said so was this just a bad performance or is this actually him? he IS a good singer but i definitely prefer ryan...

They have way less chemistry than Barret and Ryan or Barret and Dan, like they’re so far away and Barret and Ryan would be supporting each other and giving each other confidence by just jazzing each other up... not this as- man that I respect

@@Jojo-hy8dm barrett’s belt just sounds so clean and strong in this video, it’s just another way of saying powerful because her voice is coming out in a really solid belt
@@Jojo-hy8dm actually I envy Barrett so much because if you've seen her singing up close like if you watch one of the studio recordings of mean girls, every time they cut to her belting her throat is so relaxed, like her Adams apple is so low for a belt. She has such amazing technique belting like oh my God. I don't know about her Heather's Days but by the time she gets on mean girls her high notes are definitely healthy. And when she's in the airy light parts of the songs, you can tell she's not forcing anything and that's something I totally struggle with I can't be quiet singing comfortably lol. Maybe one day.
Probably because her partner seems hard to build chemistry with 😄 idk, this is the only performance I've watched with him in it. Maybe it was an off day
Lucy 123 nobody knows. That's what I ve been told. I had heard she messed around to much so they fired her I have also heard that she damaged her voice or she left for more opportunities. I think she left for the opportunities. She didn't sound like she damaged her voice

Wtf happened between them? Dave looks so annoyed with her and you can see how disappointed Barrett was when she gave him a smile and he didn’t even care.
So, I was just listening to the music, and I love it! obviously, and I know and love this story, and the musical, and am very aware of how dark it is, but this time, when I was listening to the song, for some reason it just made me think of a musical version of some teen angst drama Tv show. It feels like if they made a musical episode of the show Clone High, if you know it, this song would be in that episode.
Well I mean it isn't possible now because their run was in like 2013 and they have moved on since then of course. But I do wish that there was one. But hey there are some pretty cool community theatre versions I've seen and the fact that I didn't have an opportunity to see the original really pushed me to search for them. Try it! :)
People are saying they have no chemistry. Maybe he’s just a little uncomfortable on this setting or he’s just playing the character, but seeing other recordings and his close they get... or rehearsal recordings... you can’t tell me they don’t have chemistry.
