You guys need to overthrow your government. Aung Sung su ki or however its spelt sucked. 20 years of house detention, missed her husbands death, then didn't get anything done. I'm actually not blaming her, it just wasn't the new day we all hoped it was. I lived in SEA for over a decade in Thailand mostly. My friend is an economist for the Junta, paid a fortune while you guys starve and in the UK. I do not agree with his decision to work with the Junta.

Thailand is really feelin' it- I've lived here for 13 years and I've never seen the rains start this late (they still haven't started) and the heat is hovering around 43C-46C with around 35% humidity. When I was in Sudan it was hotter than this, but like you always hear- it wasn't so bad since it was a dry heat, so you could cool yourself with a bit of shade or a fan. In Thailand right now, if you don't have A/C, you'll just melt and even the water in the pipes makes for hot showers when you want to cool-off.

Here in the Philippines classes are suspended cause children collapse in school. People buy airconditioners and more electric fans. Even the air produced by the electric fan is hot. Power outtage is also numerous because electric connections blowup due to over usage. The government advises the people to stay indoors during 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and if you can't stay at home you should cover up yourself, use umbrellas and keep hydrated. It is normal to see people just fall down while walking. Even at night, its continous to be hot.

@@blandingscastle3729 Here are some real examples of beggars.😅😅 1) Begging for 1 trillion dollars climate finance during COP26 in Glasgow dated November 2021. 2) Begging for oxygen tanks and donations during v|9 pandemic. PM Care Funds (beggar funds) were set up to beg for money WORLD WIDE 3) Borrowing money from World Bank to build 110 million toilets for 600 million Indians (Swachh Bharat toilet mission) etc. 4) India also happened to be the largest recipient of foreign aid since independence? Research "India largest recipient of foreign aid since independence?" 🤭

World needs to act on climate change asap bcoz people living in equator and its proximity has been dying due to severe heat waves.Massive dependency on fossil fuels should be reduced and world must have alternatives for fossil fuels.People all over the world burn woods which also results in global warming plus forest fires, industries realeases green house gases and heavy dependent upon coal. Also the war is not only killing people but also having an impact on environment 👀🤔🙏

Pres. bongbong in the Philippines approved measures just last January, even if he was warned about coming El Niño last January 2023. This means no budget was allocated for this disaster. That's poor governance.

DW's content is usually so professional and gives we viewers a sense that a sensible team is behind it. This alas, is a mess. Glib and thoughtless comments by a 'host' about high temperatures, as she sits in a comfortably air-conditioned studio? Really? Out-of-context cartoons? Really? This is not good and does a disservice to DW News.

Errr... Current El Niño is NOT the strongest one. It is somewhere like 6th strongest one. Ie. 2016 was much stronger one. The situation on oceans is different from all El Niño's. We have extremely warm waters in northern hemisphere. And we had record loss of sea ice near Antarctica. Overall heating of the ocean and the heat that now has surfaced is not really related to El Niño, but something very different. One suggestion is SO2 emission bans on shipping that lead to less white cloud that shade the surface. (Hansen et al.). Rest of the science community has no real clues on what is going on. Suggesting that El Niño or volcanic eruption have caused this does not fit well in the global picture. Water vapor in the southern hemisphere does not explain warm waters in the north. And El Niño does not explain what happens in north nor south neither. On real threat could be a shutdown of AMOC system. That has been going on since 1930's. If heat pumps does not work the heat ends up in weird places. One study has suggested that when subpolar gyre has lots of melt waters, it drives Gulf stream stronger. This partially causes Europes hot summers too. Scientists also fear that shutdown means heatwaves to the Antarctica and that will melt lots of ice. We are adding extreme amounts of heat to the oceans due to our emissions. Fossil fuel burning is the main cause of these emissions and these burners are on record levels each year. If we want to have any real chance of lowering the heating, we have to shutdown all fossil burning. (And take the extra heat that SO2 created cloud cover blocked. If we won't do this, then the ghg heating will just get worse and worse.)

If we only do adaptation and not rapid emission reductions the global climate is going well above most adaptation possiblities. 3-5C warming means we will lose habitability from many locations on Earth. Many scientists say that we will go over 2C what so ever. And without rapid reductions on emissions the heat will rise much higher before we even get a chance to get the emergency under some kind of control. We need negative emissions on all under 2C models and we don't have any real options to do these negative emissions. We are already losing many areas like coral reefs under these rising temperatures. Many tipping points are already tipping or near tipping. Losing mountain glaciers means many areas are changing toward deserts. Sea level keeps on rising fast too. Current trends are well above IPCC predictions. Losing life at all sectors is also a current trend. 50% of insect biomass is already lost. 97% of the mammals are humans and our domesticated animals, specially cows. At this point adaptation saves some lives, but cutting emissions rapidly saves more lives in total. There is no adaptation alternative for those who live in coastlines or in low lying islands. The adaptation they need is migration to some other higher elevated location. And even that means their livelihood is lost and altered. They will become poorer by losing their homes and jobs. 12-20 meter sea level rise by 2300 at 2C temperature rise is causing problems for everyone that is near the sea level (not only in the coastlines) (State of cryosphere 2023). We have not even started real emission cuts. So climate emergency is getting far worse because of it.
