Its so funny considering the 2 series out so far are ONLY book 1, theres still such a long way to go 😭

Spoilers, I guess... I just watched the series and then got to the first book, not willing to wait to long for new content. So I thought 'What is the backstory of the nice, sweet Xie Lien?'. And then the first chapter hit me with "So he basically ascended for the second time only to go on a killing spree in Heaven and see how many gods he can murder before being cast out again. And he DID manage to kill a lot. Like a LOT. It was a literal bloodbath." So yeah, can't wait for more darkness after the initial suprise.

@@magorzatadus9347 yeah the prologue is CRAZY and it definetly keeps you hooked for long enough to get AT LEAST to the second book and see what the hell that was about i guess the reason the donghua is so tame compared to the books is because you lack that initial context on xie lian's character and backstory

​@@bluebelljingle the storyline is the same - but the novel is finished and out, and it's faster to read. In other words, novel readers (and manhua's too) _know_ everyone's backstories already! And hoo-boi, it's quite a story. A kind of story you will reread just to see how everything feels after You Know What You Know!

He's genuinely so earnest and cares a lot about fairness and honesty! Even when they were in Ghost City investigating Hua Cheng on suspicion that he (pretty likely!) had something to do with the disappearance of Ming Yi, I believe Shi Qingxuan suggested something along the lines of Xie Lian telling Hua Cheng he was just in Ghost City to visit him so he could get his guard down and then snoop around to investigate. And Lan Qianqiu was like 'Wait but you guys are friends right? You can't lie to your friends! It's not right to be dishonest with people who trust you!' Like??? Even when they're literally in this realm to investigate a crime (which they have reason to believe Hua Cheng was involved with) Qianqiu still cares about Xie Lian not being deceitful to someone who considers him a friend, even if that friend is suspected of wrongdoing

There are loads of spoilers in the comments. I don’t think that Danny minds all that much in the context of this show as he’s watching more for comedy value than being really into it.

I feel like it's a collective desperate attempt to make sure he doesn't stop watching before it gets to the stuff they're almost spoiling. And I get it,, great series with not enough mainstream content around it.

​@@Levsa399Jun Wu calls him by the place he was from for a specific reason. Technically Xie Lian is his given name and Taizi Dianxia is his title, or "his highness the crown prince." You don't find out Jun Wu's reasoning until much later in the series and who knows how much the Donghua will cover from the books.

Xianle is Xie Lian’s heavenly title (and the name of his kingdom. It means something like “favored by heaven”) Wind Master and a few of the other gods also call him that. He is also Jun Wu’s favorite. 😅

When that happens I need to have a couple of tissue boxes, chocolate boxes, some of my favorite snakes and food, and at least a month or two off from work to deal with the trama

Yes, he always had others' best interests in mind when he acted, but he was over-confident in his own abilities while he was developing them and was.. well, just out of touch. He had and still does have remnants of major flaws, but that doesn't make him a bad person. He was targeted because x was jealous of his naivety and believed that anyone in a bad position would have their morals turned upside down. "Bastard" perfectly suits him to be honest. He looks down on others a lot as a bad habit; he just happens to be surrounded by the most gorgeous powerful beings he could be, which kind of overshadows how he thinks about regular people. Reminder this is the same guy that looked at a young girl dying and was still pitying her for how ugly she is 😭

I’m not saying XL isn’t flawed because he does have flaws but none that classify as a “bastard” He’s the only one who chose to save a falling child who would’ve been killed, and not apologize for it. ( Again. Xie Lian never called Xiao Ying ugly when she was dying that was the narrator.) and XY is objectively ugly. But on the topic of that he was only one who showed her kindness, defended her, and made sure to protect her from further humiliation while the others either outwardly mocked her or did nothing because of how she looked. He’s the guy who stayed with her during her final moments, tried to comfort her, and said he’d take care of her friend. He listened to her wish she’d had a better chance at life. She died trying to save him because of how kind he was to her. He didn’t have his followers kowtow at his altar, he had them stand because didn’t like the stance that humans were beneath gods. “Xxxx” (idk wanna say his name in case of spoilers but you get it) Wasn’t just jealous, he had hatred toward Xie Lian and had the largest part of destroying his kingdom. He helped LY survive twice from XL, He released the human face disease. A big part is Xie Lian’s core never changed. He learned some stuff along the way and learned to view things with more nuance but even back then, majority of the choices he made would remain the same.

He’s already said he won’t react to it until it’s dubbed. That or he’s waiting for it to be on a platform he has.

Re: covers Yeah so this one day I had to go sit in a waiting room all day for jury duty and I almost took one of the novels to read while I was waiting. And then I actually looked at the cover and decided I probably better not carry that one with me... :)

@@xielianobsessor I bought it with pride! I also found out that most people who aren’t familiar with Danmei don’t realize the characters on the cover are men. My sister thought XL was a woman because the lighting in the cover art made his robes look dusty pink, the long hair, and she thought the cinnabar on his fingers was nail polish. After I let her get a closer look, she realized her mistake. 😅
