And that it’s a lonely existence to never be known or understood. It’s a sign that there is so much more to Xie Lians past then what we know Which is why it’s so important that San Lang refuses to let him do that by bringing him to Qi Rong

oh god, Feng Xin being terrified of women is so much funnier when you know his backstory, you gotta read the books after this. They're super easy to read, I swear. Also, the sword Lang Qianqiu threw to him is the sword Xie Lian carried when he was the Yong'An preceptor. Kind of a running theme throughout the series is people underestimating Xie Lian as a meek pacifist and then being abruptly reminded that he first ascended as an extremely powerful martial god, and that he is entirely capable of killing people.

Feng Xin and Mu Qing (or cat and dog as my friend likes to call them) has such an intriguing relationship, and has such a complicated backstory with XieLian, it's super interesting i literally cannot wait until this show's finished

There's only four ghost kings, Danny, and the rest other than Qi Rong don't actually eat people since they're powerful enough to not need to (or want to)! There's Hua Cheng (Crimson Rain Sought Flower), Black Water Sinking Ships (haven't met him), Bai Wuxiang (White Clothed Calamity/White No Face) who we also haven't met, and finally Qi Rong (Night Touring Green Lantern) but he technically isn't powerful enough to be a ghost king and mostly is included to make them 4 (because it's a more ominous number in Chinese for ghosts than 3).

I like when San Lang turns Lang qianquo into a doll like "shut up. I gotta make you see someone." I can't wait till the next few episodes when danny realizes hes still there.

Feng Xin's actor really does swear very naturally which is _essential_ to the character. Serious, duty bound, swears like it's sustaining his life force, and afraid of women. Also Danny, Danny his name is _Xie Lian._ You- It's going to be very funny if you keep calling him Xianle. Dubbed Qi Rong is amazing. You'll love next episode.

A reminder to Danny that in season 1 we learned there are several types of ghosts. Devastation is the most powerful class (there are only 3 Devastations -- San lang, Black Water, and Bai Wuxiang). Qi Rong is a Wrath -- one class under Devastation. So basically even though Qi Rong is considered a Ghost King by Heaven, he's the only one who is not a Devastation.

Danny drives me crazy with his casual mentions that foreshadow future events in this story 😭 like he will just predict the future casually without realizing it sometimes. It’s either that or he’s WAYYYY off from the actual event. It’s always hilarious to see which makes me want to see it more, especially if he reacted to Mo Dao Zu Shi. A donghua by the same writer as Heaven Official’s Blessing. It has action, ghosts, ghouls, Chinese names I know you can’t pronounce, sword fights, magic, romance and more. It’s heartbreaking and gut wrenching and I can guarantee that you will enjoy it. Although there is no dub, it’s still amazing and I highly recommend it to you.

my biggest complaint about the show is how similar the characters look design wise excluding their outfits. after his mask breaks, it's obviously meant to be a reveal here that qi rong looks eerily similar to xie lian and it kinda is played like that... but unless you know the context, the point completely flies over your head bc he just looks like every other character so obviously he looks sort of like xie lian.

It's interesting rewatching this with your comments because I agree with you that everything feels more urgent after you already know what's going to happen. That's definitely the serially written web novel aspect of the story. We'll see if we get a full series but I'm curious how you'll feel about it after everything is explained.

Danny, we learned about Hua Cheng’s eye in the first season 😂 if you go back to the episode when they meet on the carriage, Xie Lian asks about him and he mentions he gouged out his eye himself.
