I'd like to see the full 5.25 hour version that Michael Cimino screened to United Artists executives. Can you imagine? If that came out on Blu-ray I'd buy it.

This prologue is what really ruins the film for most. It just dulls you before you can even get into the film.

Really? I consider it the high point of the entire thing. The rest of the movie is a winding down from this high as reality disappoints and hurts everyone.
