For reference, to be watched after the prior video if you want to see what I'm talking about. I could have edited this onto the end of the last one, yes. Oh well.
A horror game in a strategy engine - that reminded me of that weird The Thing game from 2000s. Never played it but I know a mod for SC2 repeated that formula, sadly its a multiplayer thing I believe
I never played that game but always found its premise fascinating (because it's an NPC game, also I like the movie). The implementation looks kind of rough, but the idea is brilliant. One of the many reasons for Multiplayer "horror" games is how damn hard it is to get any kind of organic or reactive scenario going with NPC actors. If I force this meme hard enough across enough of the internet we can establish "NPC actor game" consciousness and get new attempts at this kind of awesome stuff. Just checked MagiPack, they do in fact have this game. They're brilliant for weird 2000score. And it's only 200MB. Looks like I'm playing The Thing then. Maybe it'll even get a video or something. Thanks for reminding me of this thing.
@@piotrgrzelak2613 I was trying to run the PC version of House of the Dead. A comment on Abandonware said that the 'Magipack' version works with no trouble. And sure enough it did. Other games that I had tried and failed to run also worked through magipack. Beyond that I also just love scrolling the catalog. So much weird forgotten 2000s middleware. I've played a few games from there now. Very, very handy site. So many games that are probably never getting real ports or updates in fine working condition.
@@Anthony1Q I heard a rumor that nightdive studios might announce a remaster of The Thing tomorrow. They have some sort of surprise reveal event. What's your opinion on their remakes?
