Awesome to hear Black Sabbath in there. The true first down tuners. Can't believe they were downturning so long in the 70's. Must have sounded so evil back then!
Hell yeah BTBAM present! And Children of Bodom too!? Excellent choices as usual 🤘 Edit: And Chevelle as well? This is now my favorite heavy riffs vid!!
Early (first 2 albums) Gorguts riffs are in C# Standard. So for me, I'd say either "Stiff and Cold" or "Disincarnated" is my favorite C# Standard song.
@@Pinewellgaze im assuming you use hz on a tuner to get the 1/4step down from D standard. Then it would be a matter of determining what the range for the 1/4step down would be. But i could be wrong, im just guessing lol
@@Pinewellgaze well, on your tuner, tune it so it keeps fluctuating between D and C# with the dot on the low and high ends, respectively. Might break your tuner but hey lmao
@@Pinewellgaze If you're using a smartphone, go to the ?123 menu, hold down on the number 1, and you should see it, although I can't guarantee that it'll be on every smartphone.
Thank you for including a Black Sabbath song. much respect. I know young people don't pay much attention to them anymore. They were the OG drop tuners. \m/
As much as I love Nik's stuff, that cover riff of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath shows that even if you can nail the riffs and the phrasing etc with modern gear, sometimes you just cannot capture the heaviness of the original riff. Still a great video showing tribute to some great riffs!
Watch your 150 riffs video like everyday. I take phone calls for a living and have to focus on what ppl are saying. So I can't listen to music with lyrics. These videos with the volume low is perfect.
The Weak Willed was originally in D. Then live when they switched to C# on Overcome, they just played it in C#. Living Sacrifice - Symbiotic Machine Head - I Am Hell Slayer - Payback All That Remains - Relinquish BTBAM - White Walls
1:21 when I was a kid I saw the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie. In it, there's this guy in the "bad kids/Foot Clan" hideout that's absolutely shredding on the low frets on a bass guitar. For all my love of shredding on the guitar, I've always liked the look of fast, muted power chords and this sample exemplifies that perfectly. Well done as always.
Communion of the Cursed is drop C#, so everything is a half step down and the low string is a step and a half down, with C# standard (this video), every string is a step and a half down. I agree though, the riff/lead in the middle of the 2nd verse is a very fun one to play
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the heaviest breakdown in metal history. Being that it was from 50 years ago it wins. Thanks for including this on your list, it legitimately got me into guitar playing.
Alaska looks so difficult, those power chords are moving everywhere around the fretboard at such a fast-pace. I would've just composed it to drop C#, lol.
I found Kalmah back in the early 2000’s when I deep dived into Scandanavian metal, mostly the Spine/Spikefarm bands after I was introduced to CoB in like 2000 I think it was. Throne of Chaos was another good one.
