Welcome to tha riff house. Also, I wanted to include bands like Architects as well a lot of your other suggestions but they use an alternative version of drop G# and I wanted to stay as true to actual drop G# as possible is all. That early grave riff is
Do you know why drop tunings in a half steps tend to be called sharps and not flats? It always seemed to me that it would be a flat, because we're tuning down so wouldn't it be a flat? Anyway I don't know that there is a good answer for this. I've just always been curious. Keep it up!
@@Esptta flats= a half step lowers sharp. theres no difference between Ab and G# no matter the octave it's preference. I'd say its only useful when tuning by cents
you should have played the clean part of dispossession and then pulled the old switcharoo to the two step part in transcending dimensions because that’s literally the meanest two step any djent band has ever produced
Thanks for the Heaviest Riffs series. You fast tracked our tests of different tunings, so we don't have to set up our guitars 24 times (12 for standard + 12 for drop).
@@connorlowe7979 yea originally i thought it was just don't let me fade away, but indestructible and disdain are also in G#. they still barely use that tuning compared to A# and G
Does a 10 to 59 work alright for drop g tuning? Ive ordered my first 7 string. It's an esp ltd M 1007 QM with a floyd rose trem. Any info helps thank you
hey Nick, i doubt ill get a response, but why no Staind on this list? there are a bunch of his riffs that are in drop G# that are fairly heavy and intricate....
If anyone is into korn, ded, deftones and such, listen to love and death. Only got one album out and it’s the side project of the guitarist korn but it’s one of my favorite albums ever and totally underrated. And drop G# tuning. Djent.
I just got my Schecter C-7 Deluxe in today and the first riff I tried playing was from Erebus by Aversions Crown and it is a rough one for me 😂 but it's soooo good though
Isn't Drop G# the tuning that Love and Death uses? I've always wondered because I love Head and JR's guitar tone on the album "Between Here and Lost". Always wanted to sound as close to that but I could never figure it out. Also don't know if they used 6 or 7 string guitars. If you happen to know, could you let me know? Would appreciate it. Thanks!
