Thanks to Dashlane for sponsoring today's video. I've been enjoying their premium service for some time now and thought they'd make a great sponsor, I'm not sure how I would deal with all of my accounts without it. Try Dashlane for free @ www.dashlane.com/restoreit Thanks for watching!
I refreshed my tired 14in E30 basketweaves last summer (factory optioned gold faces with polished lips) and I empathize with the sanding! Like you, took me about an hour per wheel easily, before AND after primer. As a fellow e30 owner, I love the videos.
Beautiful job, Steve! You have such determination! I can't imagine doing all that work on one rim and then realize you have 3 more to go. Once your baby is finished, to keep her clean, you're going to want to pick her up and carry her everywhere. Very nice work! Take care, my friend.
Thank you, Gary! It was after finishing sanding the first wheel I realized what I had gotten myself into. Always good to see you here in the comments Gary. Take Care!
The part of the wheel that mounts up to the car should be block sanded to keep the surface straight so it can mate cleanly to the hub suface. Great video!
An amazing job - can't wait to see the whole car! As others have pointed out, the white circle on the tire/tyre is supposed to be aligned with the valve. The only thing I would have done differently is to have kept the protective plastic on the face of the new stickers until the wheels were finally mounted on the car, but it's a minor nit :)
BBS RZ 15".....I have them on my E30 325is as well....great looking rims....mines were painted gold with the outer lip left polished and the BBS center caps instead of the BMW logo....keep it up mate!
Hi Eckart How much do you reckon a set of these would cost nowadays? Used ofcourse but in very good state I'm curious as it is the nicest oem style bbs for an e30 I know of in my opinion. Cheers
The E30 restoration is going really well! Those wheels were really scratched up. I’m glad you are restoring this BMW to its former glory. Keep up the good work!
Trabajo muy muy fino!!! Me encanta. Tengo ganas de ver terminado ese BMW, pero a la vez no, me gusta como trabajas. Sigue así, un saludo from Basque Country
Honestly good job man u r going into more detail about your car then most people n honestly love the videos i get exvited every time i get a notification
I respect your level of patience for doing this stuff and making sure that everything is perfect, you put a lot of time into this and I cant wait to see it done. If It were me i would have gave up on sanding after the first 20 minutes Haha 🤣🤣 keep up the good work
Never been a fan of the BBS wheels but I have to say major fair play for the meticulous job!!You must be a monk having such patience. Can't wait to see the body work once you have received it!All the best!
Спасибо за Ваши видео. Я с удовольствием смотрю все ваши работы и не перестаю удивляться Вашему мастерству и вниманию к мелочам. Удачи Вам с этим проектом. LIKE!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed that! I would say make sure you got adequate security to protect your work! I have to say I am not surprised and I am always impressed! Proud of you Steve!
Good god, in the nicest way of saying it... you must have massive amounts of OCD as the dedication and perseverance that you put into that work is truly amazing. 😊 😊 1000% kudus to you and I hope you are enjoying the Spanish sun now, from a fellow Brit in a rather cold rainy Warsaw Poland. 😊
@@RestoreIt Long story, but like most of us, a woman was involved. Fell in love with her and the country and been here 20 years now and wouldn't live anywhere else. 😊
Once again I am impressed ! Nice job man ! I was waiting for the notification lol, i bought an E34 525i m20b25 4 days ago, your videos will help me a lot ! Sorry for my mistakes i'm french. Nice video keep it up !
As much as I DON'T like BMW, I respect the work that you're putting into yours, like it's cool just looking at a guy who is fulfillin' his dream step-by-step and not just like a 0815 thing, like: "Yeah, now it looks good. Bye bye!". You're truly loving it and I love watchin' your vid's. Keep the good work up, mate! Greetings from Germany! In Deutschland sagt man,"Tschüss"! :D
@@boxxx414 well Mercedes, Audi, (Porsche, but it's way too expensive), and my favourite (I don't know why) Chevrolet (Camaro 1976, I just love that car for some reason), you?
I like all cars but lately I'm not a fan of VAG because in my country (Bosnia) almost every VAG driver is some kinda douchebag in traffic, they act like world is their :/ I like Bimmers, Jap and French cars especially. Hey, I also like that Camaro, 1st gen is cool but this one may be underrated.
Great restoration. I wish more people knew what the white dot on the tire means. It's the "low" spot or weight of the tire and should be mounted at the valve. I've done all my tires this way sometimes the wheel balanced out.
This is unfortunately a myth. I've been working in the car industry for over 10 years and the round markers on the tires, (usually Yellow, White or Red) is only storage information to the factory where they produce the tires and has nothing to do with weight. :)
@@Qpaxxer interesting you say that. Cuz ive tried it out of curiousity when I worked in a shop and always needed less weight when mounting the dot at the valve stem. It's no myth.
@@bluej511 It might just have been a slight weight reduce in the rubber on the same side the marking is printed, this would be my only solution. But as long as you balance the wheel correct, it really doesn't matter where the marking is.
no hay duda de tu talento como restaurador en base a lo estetico, sos un genio, pero me deja mucha tela que cortar que no hayas puesto las llantas en el torno aunque sea como para ver si no estan deformadas... mi like por tu trabajo. Un saludo!
