Great Video Man. Really enjoyed it. I (mostly) love your picks but was thinking about a few other bands with great record albums that you might have considered for this list. (I’m not into making my own videos but I love making lists, so I hope you don’t mind me posting my ideas on this here without intent to hijack...). Some of these bands on this list below might have put out albums that were quite awesome but issued during a little later time period. And, on balance, these are probably a little less on the psyc side and more on the heavy. Anyway, here are some to consider in no particular order: Zephyr (Bathtub album) Dust Bull Angus Tucky Buzzard Three Man Army Golden Earring (Early) Tahoniko Captain Beyond A Foot in Cold Water Farm Leaf Hound Orangutan Bang Blues Creation (Demon) The Gun Ursa Major Badger (One Live Badger) Hard Stuff (“Bullet”) Atomic Rooster Toad Bulbous Creation Josefus Freedom Lucifer’s Friend Sir Lord Baltimore Jamul Christopher Wildfire Excalibur Universe Granny Headstone Circus Road The Savage Resurrection Please forgive me if I repeated records featured on your videos, as said, we share a lot of favorites. Realize these are mostly a little later but to me fill a great void: for music my school friends and I wished for but never knew was out there. So mush fun to collect now at the other end of a lifetime.
Thanks, That video is over 3 years old, that is a old list made up of albums I had in my collection at the time. Some of those would still be on the last, others not. Like Black Cat Bones. Lists are hard, as I always seem to have regrets later on the choices. Anyway, thanks for your list. Some of those I own, Some I have heard of, others are totally unknown. Ron
You Nailed It Ron! I couldn't disagree with any of these. Well maybe one, no Third Power? You put all the great Detroit bands but not them, what gives? LOL You did a great job with these pics and your right, we tend to get away from the great pieces that really need to be rewarded and you got it right with Hendrix as #1. I often think about bands like Hendrix, Doors and the Who, it would be weird if these bands didn't make it and were obscure, you said it, these gems would be worth a ton of money. Thanks for doing this. Can't wait to see the rest of the 45's Thanks bud!
I know I left out Third Power. And I really do like it more than Black Cat Bones. But I felt I needed to get some heavy blues on the list. Blue Cheer is too low on the list and maybe The Stooges should be above Sir Lord Baltimore. That's why I kept saying the list is flexible.
Hi Ron as our tastes seem virtualy the same, and your a grand feller, i will put you on to a good thing .Google"THE DARK" PLAYING zero time .The album is expensive £25000 i kid you not ! It came out about 69/70.its a combination of Ash Ra Temple, sabbath and progressive outfits but zero time is a great lost classic; give it time to warm up.
Without the powerful boost of the “energy pill” hidden in Underdog’s ring, Mighty Mouse would easily defeat Underdog. However, due to the steroid type boost and artificial energy of Underdog’s drug of choice, Mighty Mouse has little chance unless he is wise enough to keep distance until the pill wears off. I think a Mighty Mouse would save the day after all! 😉
hey ron thanks for all the great records that you present. this is the first time i write to you but i have been watching all your videos and i really enjoyed them. your voice and your overall presence is so relaxing soothing very hippy. yea man thanks a lot for taking up the time to show your precious collection. your records rule. this hippie mind expanding music is my bag as well. keep it up hippydjkit
I completely agree with your #1 pick. I was wondering if Hendrix was going to make your list since the Beatles and other well known bands did not make your Psych list. Thumbs up.
The Beatles Revolver did make my top 10 psych list. I feel bad I did not place Blue Cheer above Sir Lord Baltimore. I got careless. That Cheer LP has always been a big fave.
Hi Ron, Some great and classic picks. Anytime the Stooges are represented in a top pick list is a good thing. I was happy to see you show the SRC album too. I don't know a ton about classic heavy rock bands but I do remember these guys. They were one of Michigan's finest and they were very popular back in the day. You got a solid collection Ron. I really enjoyed this one~ Rob/Boston
Damn Ron, great video full of turn ons and facts. I had the pen and paper ready.....never heard of Other Half, Sir Lord, Savage, SRC, Randy H., Legend & Morgan.
Hi I really enjoyed the video among all of your videos I have been watching for quite some time. I learned alot today concerning the variations and your top favorites. I'm wondering you opinion of these albums Liquid Smoke, Granicus, and Head over Heels? Thanks
Thanks for the links. I have checked some of the Liquid Smoke. Some of it was really good! Long weekend coming. I will have time to check these out. Ron
+The Hogs Ear Report no problem I hope enjoyed them. I'll be sure to add the suggestion you made of the guy showcasing the vertigo swirl Lps to my followed list. By the way I'm not sure if you are on Instagram or FB, but I share a lot of my collection here in different vinyl groups. It's usually psych but also a lot of doo-wop and jazz. Have a great day
Hi Ron! Great video and a great line of records you showed there. I totally agree on your no. 1 hard psych rock lp. Jimi's debut still sends shivers down my spine when I give it a spin and crank up the volume. I will check out The Illusion, The Other Half and Legend. I haven't heard of those bands, so thanks :-) Cheers!
Hi Thomas, The Legend-- Dragonfly LP is available as a reissue. OGs are expensive. The Other Half is not available as a reissue, I don't think so anyway. the Illusion is not very costly. Thanks for watching.
Great video Ron Couldn't imagine finding that Randy Holden LP in the wild I think I'd have a jammer and keel over Also as far as I'm concerned you can show that Dragonfly lp in ever video you do for all time Great stuff man!
wow. i completely agree with the bands that you listed that I know, like Sir Lord Baltimore. You gave me so much to research. I appreciate that. I love research.
Quite the rarities brother all expert picks for this man you really blew me away with the white label promo of Black Cat Bones. MC5 totally great pick. Randy Holden Boot looks cool what's the sound quality on that? your number one I understand I never thought of it like that. Anyway killer set of records....and p.s. I totally agree Mighty Mouse would pulverized Under Dog-john
Hi John, My Holden LP has nice sound. I payed about 80 bucks for it in the 90s. They were very LTD. It also was reissued in a limited edition few years ago and hand signed by Holden. I need to get one. I assume they are legit. They are not expensive. Thanks Bud!
Hey Ron, really great choices, and I liked The Illusion in the background a lot as well. I think you are dead on with Hendrix at the top spot. Underdog vs. Mighty Mouse. First off, which one would go rouge? I can't picture that. Anyway, Underdog would have to go save Polly Purebread half way through the fight anyway, so I guess Mighty Mouse would win by default. I may have over thunk this. Take care Ron...
Hi Ron: about 74 I heard an Album in wich you heard bubbles between The song. I great music. I wonder if You know The name os The group an álbum. Thanks a lot.
Oh, that is a tuff one. The only thing I can think of is the psych album by "The Tea Company" It has water and bubbles between two songs. It's their only album.
Hey Ron, as usual I learned a lot from your video. Only familiar with about half of your picks. I was curious if you'd heard of a band call The Child? I picked up an original of their album "Child" recently. They sound a lot like Vanilla Fudge, but in some ways more interesting because of some of the songs they cover which you would never think would work as hard psych, but they pull it off. You probably know it well, but if not, check it out, I think you would really like it. -Kevin
Ron, I didn't realize that there was a late 70's band called Child too. It's not that one. Here's the discogs linked to the the one I'm talking about: www.discogs.com/The-Child-Child/master/505658. -Kevin
They can't show Hong Kong Phooey anymore. It is not politically correct. I remember hearing it was being shown on cable in the 90s and the Network received complaints. Too racist. What ever happened to just watching something cuz it was funny. And not take it serious?
The Hogs Ear Report I know they did that with old Warner Brother cartoons but I didn't know that was the case with Hong Kong Phooey. Well, what they say might be true, I haven't watched it since I was a kid, but it was popular in it's day.
The Hong Kong Phooey controversy may have been on one of the local AZ channels. I have some of the 1940s racial WB cartoons. That stuff blew my mind when I first saw it.
