Heath great tip with keeping bucket or grapple low when mowing. I really like the flail mower, I have a standard brush hog but it definitely doesn’t do as good of a job pulverizing the material like a flail mower. With all the rain in WI this year our food plots are doing real good. Be safe and good luck deer hunting.
Thanks Tony. You must have got all of our rain. This is the driest fall I can remember. My food plots are very sparse. We are finally Getty’s little rain now so hopefully I can save them. Good luck to you as well!
Thanks and yes I love that thing! Wasn’t sure how I’d like it when I bought it but so far so good. I couldn’t find a lot of information out there on them.
I have been happy with it. As far as cutting the 4-5” stuff it depends on species etc. I’ve cut some pretty big stuff with it but remember you have to mow going forward so you have to be able to run it over. I messed up a few things on the underside of my tractor doing this so moving forward I’ll stick to a little smaller stuff.
Is there a reason why you went with that size unit considering the pto hp of your tractor. Only reason im asking is because I'm looking at one and from the specs you should be able to run 72+ inch model . I'm hoping my 40hp can run the 6ft but still haven't decided.
Ricky, the main reason I went with this one is because I am impulsive and when I decided I needed a flail mower this was the largest one they had available at the time, the others were sold out. I also figured it’s better to have a little extra power than not enough. Where are you located? If you are close enough you could swing by and run it on your 40hp if you’d like.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors thank you , I really appreciate the response . I live in southern georgia so im far from yall I assume . I have one important qestion I can't find any replacement 5lb blades , do you have replacements or have you not needed to replace the hammers .
Ricky, that is quite a hike! I do not have any replacements and honestly have not looked for any. I check on them quite a bit and so far they are all still in good shape. Probably should have picked some up when I bought it.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors thank you , you are really helping me out . I have one more question if that's ok . How does it mulch shorter grass , if you've cut shorter stuff like 7-8inch does it do a decent job . In the video with some of the taller looking grass you showed cut , it seemed to do a decent job at mulching the grass that looked around 12inch+ and it appeared to be mulched into it into 3 to 5 inch peices or at least small enough not to mat up and kill whats underneath .
Ricky in my opinion it does good with shorter grass as well. There are removable bars that hold the grass etc in so it is mulched more. I have used it to mow my lawn before when my mower was down. Also feel free to ask all the questions you want. One of the reasons I started this channel was to help others because I have learned a lot from peoples channels.
In my grain plots I use rye (not rye grass but field rye), red clover, and buckwheat. All three of these seeds tend to do pretty good without tilling them in. For the brassicas I like to use Northwoods Whitetails brassica blend.
I've been asking over and over where this particular mower is manufactured because I refuse to buy something made in China. I have yet to get an answer!
