I've commented once before on your videos Captain, a teenage loadmaster from the 772nd at Dyess back in the 80s on H models. This brought back so many memories. It seemed like we spent more time at Pope than anywhere else, while the local boys were on rotation in Europe (though I did two of those). Even the DZ names are still the same. I ended up LAPES qualified and SOL1, then JAI and also a rigger at Clark AB while only flying for currency. It's still amazing to me what I used to do at such a young age. It changed my life (for the better, lol). Cheers to all the (tactical) trash haulers! Great video!

…I was a 772nd loadmaster in the late 80’s , early 90’s also! We lived at Pope, seems like. Good times, on those H-models, which were the “new” Hercs at the time…lol. 😎

Great video. I’m a Jumpmaster who has gotten to shadow as the Drop Zone Safety Officer for a heavy drop back in December around the same time as one of your previous videos. It’s always an awesome experience to watch heavy drops and to jump

At 15:05 - 15:10 I can see the weight shift balance of the aircraft when the load is released by seeing the aircraft pitch up and down.

We participated in a 92 plane C-130 formation drop at Brag in 1966 or 67. Loadmaster 347th TAS Dyess.

@@ReachAviation The best part was that we were in the last element of the formation and the only four planes that managed to drop due to high winds. The whole formation did a race track back over the drop zone, and I got to go up on the flight deck and watch the mass drop. It was very impressive. Only bad part was there were quite a few injuries with the troopers due to the marginal winds.

@@ReachAviation Yes it was. 130 a little ahead of us rolled over 45 degrees and dropped down into a stick of jumpers and by a miracle missed them all. Had to be one of my most "interesting" drops, next to the Erding Germany NATO fiasco and shooting down a 130 in the pattern at Dyess.

I'll never get why those Grunts want to leave a perfectly airworthy aircraft. Ain't no beer at a DZ. Oh well, their loss is a Crew Chief's gain. AC is buying, Roger???

So, did the copilot flare just a bit high? 20ft doesn't seem too high to begin the flare. The actual landing seemed nice. Put the nosewheel on nice and soft.
@ReachAviation
@ReachAviation 2 года назад
The herk flares between 10 and 20 feet. Its hard to not shift your aimpoint as the ground gets bigger. Looks like he was focused on aimpoint and the left seater felt they would hit nose first.

Hi, what is the beeping sound every couple of seconds? (especially near the end while taxying). Tnx
@ReachAviation
@ReachAviation 2 года назад
The "Ding Ding" is an Advisory notification of the Advisory, Caution, and Warning System (ACAWS). The copilot mentions on taxi that the system wont accept the next leg in the flight plans enroute altitude which is causing the notification.

Space-A is back! Otherwise we usually fall under the 618 AOC TACC which limits what we can do outside of the defined mission.

@goodnightmr5892 2 года назад
@@ReachAviation I will make it a mission under Civil Air Patrol! 🤣 Get those *cough* flight hours in! 186th CAP (4B8) Roberson Air Field is closest to me. CT Nat Guard Base out of (BDL) 103rd AW next closest. Maybe make it a charity/documentary event PA can use or something. I'll reach out to 618. My last CMD was 86th SFS/NATO AACC HQ. You should make a Discord or I can do it for you. I'm a cyber guy now.
