does the heavy fighter concept still exist today in some form? the F-16 and MiG-29 are much smaller than SU-27s and the F-15s no? thoughts on if that changes the roles or dynamics of the cragt enough to warrant being in a separate class?
That is a great question. The F-16 was certainly sold as a “lighter” and certainly cheaper option than the F-15. It is also true that the F-16 has one engine while the F-15 has two. However most modem fighters have two engines which kind of blurs things a bit.
