Great show as always! Good to hear about the lining up the bulldog (center of hood) trick works when u go big, I was wondering about that. I learned that tip from my pops as a kid with an old late 70s chevy blazer - before they miniaturized the things! ☺
I know you are a TV/movie buff. Here is some Soprano's trivia. If you go home the same way down 95/NJTP on your right after Newark airport there are a bunch of oil tanks. Those were from the opening credits of The Soprano's. I love these long trucking vids. Thank. Mark
I just wanted to say thank you to Sergei for this production and I'm only 1/2 way in. I seriously have reached my peak and have a heap of comments (later). I love this video!
If you had a truck GPS you could enter height, weight, width and it would give you a route compatible with those restrictions and you wouldn't have to guess what the alternatives are.
Back in the 80's driving for Carl Subler Trucking and Schneider Transport I went into the City every week and sometimes would deliver all the way out to River Head.LI. This was in a 13'6" dry van 45 and 48' long. All the low underpasses wasn't no picnic, today with 52' trailers no thank you. I sure love Texas and the 11 western States much better... Hope you don't get robbed over the weekend laying over !!!
You like the Bulldog: The British started calling Maok Trucks Bulldogs during WWI. Here is an excerpt from the Mack website. (A soap carving is more commonly accepted as truth) 1932 - Early in 1932, Alfred Fellows Masury, Maok's Chief Engineer, was admitted to the hospital for an operation. Masury was one of those individuals who wasn't used to his hands being idle for any period of time. During his recuperation in the hospital, Masury decided to carve a bulldog. (Some rumors indicate that he carved the first bulldog from a bar of soap; other rumors indicate the first was carved from wood.) Whether the first bulldog hood ornament was soap or wood, we do know that shortly after his release from the hospital, he did in fact carve a bulldog in wood. Masury applied for and received a patent for his design; that Bulldog design has adorned Maok trucks ever since!
The Mack Bulldog has been on Mack trucks since 1932. The Bulldog originated from WW 1 British troops who said the front of the Mack AC model they and the US used during the war looked like a Bulldog.
great idea with the bulldog, i heard about that, a long time ago, and some people swear by it, some people actually buy a mascot and install it on their vehicle, to guide them.
Drove that route MANY times 80/95 to the GW and the Cross Bronx Expy , brings back memories . Worked NYC for 15 years , wow , I live in Buffalo now ,it is a LOT easier , even with the SNOW !!! LOL great video's
Oh yea, When you going through the Cross Bronx Exp, Most of the trucks are on the middle and left lane because more of the entering and exiting lanes are on the right where all the cars be cutting you off all most 80% of the time. When the traffic clears you move over to the middle lane.
When going over the GW bridge. Their is no way to ease the congestion of traffic. If you come in during the morning or evening their is a 20-30 minutes getting over the bridge. As for the position lane you are in at 9:27 you are fine their but if you are getting off to an ext. you should be one lane over where you are now. Just to make it easy on you if you decide to get off. But if you just going straight toward I-95N the lane you is is prefect to pass the traffic on the right hand side of you.
You can tell that ain't #Texas since I am halfway through this video of thousands of cars and have only seen two pickup trucks. Here in Austin you see one truck to every two cars. :)
I'm staying in Glendale New York till Sunday night or Monday morning. Tried California Pizza Kitchen yesterday ... Today it's time for Panera Bread at 7325 Woodhaven Blvd, Ridgewood, NY 11385. Love their salads!
Early 1970s, George Washington bridge,, Thomas E Dewey (governor of N.Y. 1943 to 1955, Republican presidential nominee 1944 and 1948) decided to stop and turn around in the middle of the GW bridge. Instantly recognized, people behind him stopped, blocking oncoming traffic. Some got out, halped him turn around. Perks of being famous.
The traffic in that video is nothing compared to traffic my dad has to experience in Chicago. But, a great video by the way. I hope to become a Commercial Truck Driver when i graduate and go to trucking school after I graduate.
Went across that bridge many a time. In all my years I've only seen them ticketing trucks in the left lane once or twice through there and they mostly seemed to be targeting local drivers who knew better as opposed to otr guys. Think of the mess it would cause ( worse then it already is) if they started yanking trucks out of the left lane and finding a place to park!
Here in good old Blighty (England) We have Roads and Motorways (Freeways) built and designed for Trucks NOT cars (Auto-mobiles) We also have Road Legislation (Commonly known as the highway code) Designed For...................................................................... Yes you guessed it , Trucks (Not Auto-mobiles) Are we paying attention yet our cousins over the great pond ;)
QRoutback no, i try to stay away as much as possible. only come here when the load pays good. trips to new york city usually pay a 'new york city premium'.
Infrastructure, wow! Potholes galore! Urban decay! Yuck! Trash everywhere! Asphalt jungle deteriorating to carriage roads. Hope you escape soon, before your truck shakes apart. Great video of New York! I ran out of popcorn, and had to get other sustenance to make it through.
I think your GPS stutters lol go buy a truck GPS, before you get into trouble! Don't feel bad about taking up the whole street to make turns. If those New Yorkers aren't used to trucks having to do that, they never will be. Great vid thanks :-)
john imburgia too late. i'm back in canada. now i'm loading some stuff for indiana, and then it's a short deadhead to a CAT plant picking up a big wheel loader. busy, busy, busy .. but i suggest you move out of new york city! that city is CRAZY! ;)
yeahh , i've watched it all ,55 minutes of pure fun and adrenaline with Uncle Sergey!!!Thx Sergie for this blockbuster ,hope you will do another one soon! Oh and that white bmw is a 5 series GT.Here in Romania , bmw is considered the best car manufacturer in the world, but not for me, i think japanese cars are better in anyway than german cars.
At 13:00 the driver in this video says "Welcome To Manhattan." When did they move the GW Bridge out of the South Bronx ??? I 95 is the "Cross Bronx Expressway." !!!
+Eagle One between the GWB and the Cross Bronx Expressway is the Cross Manhattan Expressway. That is where you are going under all the buildings, between the Hudson River and the Harlem River.
Sergei great to see on my backyard, been watching many vids of your trips around Canada and US, I remember you when you had the yellow International with the flat bed, great to have you town,,Your the best among truckers in You Tube!!
Great video Sergei that was a long bridge , yes the bulldog is a big help for your driving , long video must have taken for ever to upload this must be one of your longest videos I have seen , have a good one .
dave allen you probably missed this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XBSvRPLCzwc.html. 54 min 28 sec of digital entertainment, with a surprise at each unpredictable turn.
***** No I saw this one already thanks and commented my friend that is when you took 3 times to get across the border to the US some issue with your paper work .
Ok, the video got boring after awhile. I did enjoy reliving the bridge thru your eyes. By the way how much does it cost to cross now the bridge nowadays It was $12 in my days. I haven't crossed that bridge since the mid 80's. I remember me an a driver out of Alabama crossing the bridge one night. We were having a good time talking to another driver, until we caught up with him. He was hauling explosives.
I like them . No chance you’ll have to fight off fatigue/ drowsiness when in NYC. Now when you’re done for the day I promise you’ll collapse once the adrenaline wears off. I think my first run into NYC took a few years off of my life. Also 99% of your trucks ignore the no trucks in the left lane signs. It’s impossible to stop that volume of traffic to write a ticket.
I drove truck to World Trade Center back in 1964.The World Fair was going on.I was sure glad to get out of there. The closer i got the faster they started going.Like your videos,I was nervous wreck watching entire video.Looks like the roads haven't improved any.
Hi Sergei I watch you on my iPad and and on my laptop Google maps of your trip a great job,I haul hi cube truck I went around New York. You have a great weekend ,
I like that bulldog. shame it is not gold. meaning the whole truck is made in USAI don't give people breaks anymore. I hang back and if you want to get in there the other driver has to make that decision.too many times I tried to wave a person in and they don't take it then later decide to take the opening, I almost hit them.people are stupid.
Haha...bulldog enthusiasts would shootski Mack if they messed up the bulldogs and they know it. Drivers used to keep there bulldogs and swap it on to the truck they moved to. A lot of superstition in the bulldog community exists to this day.
tazmun great tidbit of information. i love my bulldog too. when you stare at it 8 hrs a day, it becomes a part of the family AND it plays a special part in my videos ;)
Oh dear you had to drive into New York City traffic from New Jersey. Just think if you had to drive that every day or weekly? Lots of other crazy drivers out there. Anyway hope you had fun...
kamara_trucker kamara the main thing is i made a lot of MONEY. when you make good money, you can afford the fun. you can see this BREAD cargo van in the new season of the STRAINS TV show.
Серега, так для интереса, а для чего все видео на английском??? на русскоговорящую аудиторию не рассчитываешь??? думаю подписчиков было бы в разы больше!
..i want to Thank Loshawn-(O/O's)Parks '...for VIDEO..DELIVERY in DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN-New-York"..my delivery was WIDE left-turn 19th Street Jetro-WareHouse !?
+Charles Tait My father was born and grew up near Lukhovitsy Moscow Oblast, We went there once a year for a vacation when I was in high school. My uncle had an old bike and I toured lots of small towns over there. Voskresensk was a bit too far, but it's in the same area. The house we stayed in was right on the Ryazanskoe Schosse (main highway between Moscow and Ryazan). I remember sitting on the bench next to the highway with my FED-3 camera and taking pictures of passing trucks and buses, and dreaming of becoming a 'long haul trucker' one day. The dream came true 27 years later ... in Canada. Who would have thought? ;) ;)
