Did you ever race? It may be a maxim of training schools because they dont want crashes but there are many places on a race circuit where you have to, if you want to be competitive.
@@pascaIzimit’s safer to crack the throttle open so you maintain speed or gradually increase speed through corners. Decelerating is more dangerous than accelerating when leaning
I've had an accident where I broke my collarbone and knee, and I was just as relaxed. Freaking out won't help, so why bother? Stay cool and evaluate the situation.
Tar snakes aren't that bad. When they're fresh, yes they can be slick. When it's pretty hot, yes they can be slick. But, old tar snakes on a highly traveled road? They typically aren’t _that_ bad. In our local twisties they installed some fresh tar snakes and for the first 8 weeks you could really feel your bike moving underneath you, it was unnerving. Now if I go over them I don’t even know they’re there.
One of my favorite memes is a dad telling his little kid, _"When in doubt give it full throttle. It may not solve the problem but it will end the suspense."_
It's very weird after watching this channel for years and finally getting a bike seeing a crash on a road I take regularly (7:35) That's not a roundabout I would of ever thought I could crash on my own but this has just proven otherwise
I don't know why he crashed. It sounded like he scraped something. But then later there were other scraping noises, so was that just a bad mic? If he did scrape something, then he mustn't have had much cornering clearance on that bike because it didn't look like he was leaning a lot.
@@dgphi Hey Lads. Same thing, never would have thought I'd crash on that roundabout either, especially after just being up in the featherbeds at much higher speed. I had already ground my peg feelers down to basically nothing, and (after looking at the road after the fact), there was a little hump on the inside of the roundabout. Since the feeler was gone, the peg caught it and took just enough weight off the back wheel to fold the front. Well that was what I determined after it anyway. There's decent cornering clearance on that bike and 160 tyres so it was just a mix of poor judgement and unlucky road surface.
I once rode my 1989 ninja 750r home on a nj 2 lane highway in conditions similar to that (it was less snowey but more slushy). Honestly it's a miracle I didn't end up like that guy, but given the conditions I'm willing to bet he didn't really have a choice but to ride. His bike seems well protected enough, probably could pick it up and keep going
I mean he was probably taking every other corner just as fast, meaning he should've been fine with that one. I'm betting he's done that road faster before
Reminder for the track: Warm your tires. If you're on street compounds give it a lap or so before you lay into it full force. If you're on race compounds and the tires have been on a warmer- you need to ride hard to keep them at proper temp! Don't use worn out tires. Properly set your pressures based on track temps and tire recommendations, even a -2 psi in the front can make the difference in your tire walking on you.
Well Barney Rides, what happened was you were going to fast for the road surface, then your front tire hit a crack or tar seam and slipped. Then you went on very expensive road slide. In the trifecta pyramid I was taught in truck driving school (I also am a rider), the Driver is at the top because they have the most control of a situation, then your Vehicle because it has the 2nd most ability to be setup for the road conditions, and lastly the Road because the conditions on the road determine many factors of how you should operate on it. Barney you simply forgot the Road gets a vote too.

Why bother wasting time honking? Normally I wouldn’t judge someone under haste but you were going slow and had so much time to think and avoid that with a simple swerve maneuver. That accident may have not been your fault but you let it happen.

Seems some riders countersteer into a corner fine but then dont keep the pressure on the bars keeping the countersteering active... then lose the front... if countersteering isnt looking like its working to get through a bend, countersteer more not less.
You do realize that counter-steering is the only way to turn a 2-wheeled vehicle, right? If you don't counter-steer you can't turn a bike, you can't tighten a turn, and you can't come out of a turn. That's how the physics of 2-wheeled vehicles works. Some people talk about counter-steering as some magic alternative method of turning a motorcycle and it’s not, it’s the only method for turning a motorcycle.
@@abikeanditsboy3449 yes i completely understand. Watch the bars on some of these clips. What i am saying is that in some cases it seems they have taken the countersteer pressure off the bars and the steering then folds. Whilst a moving bike is happy to stay upright by itself, the bike wont hold a countersteer by itself, the rider needs to maintain it, or increase it if they arent turning hard enough, which was my second point..
@@tgalloway - My favorite part of the MSF class was when they talked about counter-steering. They had us whizzing around the parking lot at 5-8 mph and had us push on the bar to "feel" counter-steering. They'd ask, _"Did you feel it?"_ I dutifully lied and said I did. I felt nothing but they were expecting us to say yes or testing us to see how many liars were in the group. Regardless, I lied and so did everyone else. At what speed does counter-steering take over from direct steering? It really depends on the geometry of the bike. But yes, at sufficiently low speed direct steering is how to turn a bike. However, in the general case, which is the majority of these videos, counter-steering is the only option. ✌
@@abikeanditsboy3449 Counter-steering works at all speeds. The feeling is different at different speeds, but it is all still counter-steering. If you want to turn to the right at a low speed, you turn the front wheel to the left, which makes the bike fall to the right, and then the front wheel swings to the right, and now you are turning right.
First clip is the best demonstration of motorcycle dynamics I have ever seen. Too much throttle and the rear wheel spins out. Let go of the throttle too fast and the tire grips again. Bike kicks back launching the rider over the handle bars. You should sell that as an instructional video.

It's hard to see with the light reflecting off the road, but there is a dark streak to the right side of the lane. Any kind of oil or coolant and your tires can go in an instant if you're leaned or turning. It's really one of the things that makes street riding so risky.
A car ran into me 3 weeks ago (still in the hospital) glad y'all made it out ok, and I have no intention to stop ridding motorcycles. But please be careful know how to ride, then know that no one around you knows how to drive. See y'all road masters on the flip side

Can you make separate episodes for race track crashes? To be honest I only care about crashes on a normal road because they teach me things that I should watch out for.
2:23 maybe wanna change that disclaimer because the cow very much was harmed all because something wasnt killed doesnt mean it wasnt harmed. Getting hurt is a form of being harmed and even many people falling off their bikes is humans taking harm.
It was nice to see someone so chill about their off. No rage, no anxiety, no stress, no temper tantrum, as chill as a walk in the park. It also kinda told us why the crash happened. His bike was soaked in radiator fluid which points to the leak he was talking about. It probably sprayed his front tire and he lost traction.
@@LifeisARiddle could be but still. To have so much at risk. Risk of bodily injury and damage to something se expensive is not worth it. I’d rather struggle to get where I need to go instead of risking losing such an expensive investment.
Most of these bike accidents are caused by speeding definitely not going the speed limit per turn and when it comes to the race tracks novices should not put their bikes on a race track unless they’re conditioned for sad race track meaning you’ve had proper training and experience on a race track high speed does not give you the right to speed slow down guys that stuff gives bikers a bad name. I am a biker by the way.
If you watch carefully, at 1:12 you can clearly see a continuous oil/diesel stain. Don't be so quick to judge the rider. If you hit the oil stain on the bend, there is nothing you can do, and no electronics that can save you. It's pure bad luck. The careless owner of the polluting vehicle should be made accountable. It's criminal really.
Why some people always ride in snow and icy weather? I dont get it... obviously you will crash. I am riding my bicycle in the winter and that is difficult enough. But if you try to hold the weight of a motorcycle... impossible
Black and blew Yamaha idk what happened lol um speeding, to fast for the patched up public road, didn't lean into it enough center of gravity was to high on the bike. Basically you bit off more than you could handle and your bike paid the price

I hope I'm not the only one here in thinking I don't care if people slide out on tracks or on the road. That isn't worth watching and I'd rather see near misses, crashes with traffic, and the like.
