The Camacho that fought De la hoya was there for a payday. The Camacho that fought Chavez was still a good fighter. One of the best 140 pounders in 1992 when Chavez and Macho fought. After the loss to Chavez was when Camacho really went south. Trinidad beat was left of him and De la hoya got a shell of Camacho.
it's hearsay. One guy says it then the others believe him then decide it sounds smart so he repeats it. hearsay Davis lost a razor thin split dec to unbeaten Edwin Rosario add to that oylympic gold medalist. Up until he met Camacho, he'd never met anyone like Hector who could box, bang N move. his hand & footspeed were incalcuable and he could out Ali ALi himself Chavez never wanted any part of Hector cuz of his speed & waited till Hector was worn out yesterday's news
Why am I in denial? You're the one in denial if u say Julio wanted hector, fought at the same weight as Hector, turned pro the same year as Hector, even the same AGE as Hector! OMG!!! and u saying Julio SOMEHOW missed fighting him? it was SOMEHOW a coincidence? My man Hector woulda tore that boy up DLH STYLE! cuts N everything along w MAJOR embarassment like getting his ballz punched in front of el Presidento De Mayhee-co m'man just had 2 much SPEED! Spelled S-P-E-E-D!
SRLmerely accepted an invitation to fight. It's not likeHector waited for poor Sugar to decline. But Chavez, never DARED face prime Camacho and always settled for being second. he did the same w Lockridge, Mayweather, Rosario, Ramirez, haugen. all damaged goods w about a zillion losses betwen them The REAL time for that fight wouldve been 84-86 yet it never happend. Why? the 80s wuz a different story. when it came to chasing Camacho, the slower Hector walked, the slower Chavez chased him
you can lie to yourself all you want(and apparently you are).but the facts speak otherwise.i feel sorry for the people in your life who have to deal with someone like you who is in such deep denial.

Your right but Camacho actually thought he had a chance against Oscar by fighting bigger men before and by being physical specimen by fight time. When Hector got caught by that left hook in the opening round he realized he was in over his head. I would had love to see this prime camacho against whitiker!
i don't rely on hearsay from some know it all writers. Why was Hector not the over cautious boxer u say he is in the Davis fight of 87? Hector scored a shutout and he did it by taking it to the other fighter and making the fight. I didnt exactly see Chavez coming out to challenge Hector's postition as 130 & 135 cuz he knew he couldnt compete with the speed. Picture another embarassment like Whitaker & Chavez except that Hector had twice the speed who's rasenfire?
what prime are you talking about? i will agree that de la hoya fought a camacho that was out of his prime, but when camacho fought haugen he was only ten years into his career and had only had about thirty eight fights. the fact is that the rosario fight changed him.his style became cautious and boring.in the nine fights prior to the rosario fight camacho had five knockouts, but in the nine fights after rosario he only had one.and that's no one fault but camacho's so stop making excuses for him.
@drock349 Chavez would've no answer for Camacho's speed at that time, he would've dance circles aroud Chavez all night. Taylor's mistake was that he traded with Chavez, but he was getting beat down by Taylor. Camacho wouldn't have made that mistake and it would have been a sotout win for camacho. At that time, of course Chavez waited until he went to 140, had lost, was in drugs and wasted his talen. Still, he could not ko him....
I dont see Hector running in the leonard fight! He smaller than Ray but he back him up the whole fight. You see? Hector dont got to dream! He knock ray down he cut him up then he knock him out! Now that is a fact not a dream it is also a fact that Hector beat more world champions than anyone in the 80s & unbeaten the whole decade!
until hector started losing? prior to fighting jc camacho had only lost to haugen.a fight that would have ended in a draw had camacho not had a point deducted for refusing to touch gloves with haugen.get your facts straight.
far past his prime. Say it and let's please stop this delusional talk about Rosario changing Hector's style as if it somehow had to do with him losing to Chavez. You act like he won when he really lost. and I hate to tell you this but just becuz Rosario won three rounds in the fight, dont give him the right to claim victory simply put, prime Hector was too fast, too skilled for anyone this side of Benny leonard himself
Ray Leonard? you realize Leonard had come out of A six year retirement for that fight an,that wasn't Leonard it was a fossil. and yet your criticizing Chavez for waiting to long until camacho started losing? The loss to Haugen just proved Camacho was not as good as Chavez, who to remind you, demolished Haugen just like Rosario. Chavez was flat out better fighter who had a better career and to not see that means you don't know shit about boxing. .
hearsay?if dozens,if not hundreds,of boxing analysts say the same thing it's not hearsay,it's a consensus. davis? lol davis was a journeyman who lost to such notables as jim watt(?) and joe manley(?)if you are trying to show me how little you know about boxing you are doing a great job! there are a lot of reasons why certain fights are never made.suggesting that chavez avoided camacho is childish.grow up. rasenfire is the guy who also tried to pull your head out of hector's ass two weeks ago.lol
Didn't Clown Camacho fought Leonard AFTER he got beat by Chavez ? No if's or but's, but a fact that undefeated Chavez and Camacho fought and guess who won ? I would of stay trading punches with old Leonard or slow ass Ramirez but not against power puncher and granite chin JC Chavez. I think Clown Camacho agrees with me. Style make fights.
5 yrs after. I'm wondering why didnt Julio face up to Hector back when it was Macho time? I'll tell u why. its cuz he feared the speed of HC! He knew he couldnt handle it so he laid back, didnt want to be too ambitious so he stayed in Hector's shadow instead knowing it would be safer N smarter as for styes making fights, Pernell, another slick southpaw made a fool of Julio & used his nutsack for a punching bag in front of the Prez de Mayheeco! Sweet! Camacho KO 5 SRl: even sweeter!
