Heard this very same noise last night in my garden. I had no idea what it was as it was dark and went quiet as I approached. There were two lovely hedgehogs just chilling out in the grass, and now I know why they make that noise, love RU-vid ♥️ Thanks for the great upload!
@@soundhobo I have had one in the garden in the past, last couple of years, the fact there are now two makes me feel good, as maybe their numbers are multiplying 🙏🏼
It bloomin' well does.. As I called the cat in last night I heard this grunting noise. Got a torch to check the lawn and there it was- the snorting prickly rascal.
I got 2 hedgehogs outside my mums house I hear in my bedroom, I heard noise then went out with torch 2 big ones on grass after this vid now know why I hear sniffing noises 😂
@@soundhobo I have hem in my garden now , made a big hotel for them with 3 rooms! At top of garden I upcycled a waterbutt by cutting out bottom and making tunnel , thus sealed top full of hay
Was clearing an area around a tree in my garden where I had dumped some timber and heard a sharp sound like this and very loud , it stopped me dead , checked the sound and realised I must have hedgehogs so now that place is out of bounds and looks a tip . Lovely to see them at night though shuffling about and just glad it was not rats .
They can certainly make themselves heard when there complaining. I’m glad you’ve got an area for them, they will probably move on unless it’s a place they decide to hibernate this winter. I do a little tidy up in my garden but am mindful of them. Enjoy 👍
Wonderful, Paul. Home&Roost make the following observation about the huffing, snorting, and snuffling sound - "It’s the noise that hedgehogs make when they’re out and about, busy searching for food at night. Though the noise can be surprisingly loud, a grunting, snuffling hog is perfectly happy and should be left to go about her business." All well and good unless, as you say, you are trying to sleep. About the hissing sound - "Keep your distance from a hissing hedgehog, just like you would from a hissing snake. When a hedgehog hisses, it means he is really annoyed and wants you, other hogs or other animals to clear off." Hungry hoglets make a chirping sound. Home&Roost also noted that hedgehogs fart. That sounds like another entry to add to your sound capture bucket list - just under capturing a bee fart. Be well, my friend, and keep it awesome. Quinn and Rosie send greetings to Mole. Peace
Thank you 🙏 The sound the Hedgehogs make is many and varied if it wasn’t for the poor audio quality on my trail cam I would have included it in each shot where they make variations of huffing, snorting and snuffling noises. It drives me mad that I can’t use it, many do but I hate the microphones self noise and trying to remove it alters the quality of the sound you want. So attempts by other methods have to be made. There a happy bunch most of the time and are content to wander around the garden feeding, I used this footage to show they can have there little spats every now and then. I’m going to have to pin a mic 🎤 to them to catch a fart 💨 though 😂 Stay safe and well 🐾👍
The video doesnt do justice to how loud these tiny hogs are. I was woken up by one from thenother side of my building! Spent 15 mins just loud sniffing.
So considerate of you not to film their mating sounds 😅. But apart from the snorting and sniffing - aren’t there any other sounds like squeaking and barking?
