I assume you are talking about yoko keage? If so then very true. Perhaps it's because after thousands upon thousands of reps of Heian Nidan, he knows precisely how to place his foot prior to the kick. Also he is an excellent technician.
Leib Levine 'Trick' is a bizarre translation, that's for sure! I mentally substitute the word 'technique' and it seems to work... Not sure whether they paid a professional translator / interpreter for the English-language voice-over. 😃
