For the non-expert: Let's go over the intimate details of adjusting your lay bar on the Heidelberg Windmill printing press, in order to get the very best registration as quickly and easily as possible. It's my first video, so I'm sorry the production values aren't great. I spend a lot of time fondling tools while talking. It's annoying but the information is good.

Can you do more of these kinds of tutorials? Please! This is really helpful. It's challenging to find someone who operates T platen and wants to share the knowledge.

this video rules! thanks jami- i knew about the screws but never realized the nut was a lock 🙄 at the shop where i was trained, and worked for a decade, my boss (who thought of himself as a heidelberg master but was way too lazy & closed minded to ever be one) actually thought our tail screw mechanism became broken and had me use LOCKTIGHT to cement it in place forever. i'm so excited to learn this little bit- thank you!

Thanks for this video. Unfortunately, it looks like you are not posting videos anymore here. Would love to see more. We just got a Windmill to our working print shop in our Dayton History Park and will be using it soon. Any information would be great.

If I were going to make another video, is there something in particular you'd like to see? I have taught classes and have thought about breaking the whole machine down into modules and making more videos.

@@jamiheinricher4477 At this time, nothing in particular. We just got our Windmill and quite honestly the building is still being finalized. I work in a historical print shop with lots of various presses. The Heidelberg was new added as we are expanding the building, so it isn't running yet. I have never used one (there are others in the shop who have), but I will be learning it over time. So I can't pinpoint what I would like to see yet. As we get on, I might be getting back to you for suggestions. I just thought you did a great job and would hope other videos relating to the press would eventually be forthcoming. This video I noticed was posted four years ago, so wasn't sure if you were going to do anymore with this channel. Thanks.

@@zorka4098 It's certainly my intention, but I want videos to be better than I'm likely to make them, which keeps me from trying. I'm pretty embarrassed about the one I posted, but overall think it's more useful than embarrassing. :D

Hi mam nice video I want some help regarding die cutting jacket. I have recently purchased a old windmill for die cutting, but i m getting trouble in fitting die jacket for this. I am not getting ready die jacket in india. So, i have to build by my own. But the steel jacket is comes off occasionally after 1k to 2k impression. Please suggest.

I would take the trouble of purchasing a proper die jacket for import. You really don't want a jacket coming off during a run, as you can damage parts and plates. BUT, I also sometimes use the double-sided adhesive film for polymer to secure non-cutting areas of the jacket to the bare platen, for extra security when my jacket gets loose. I also tape the jacket down from the top in a few places if I'm concerned about it staying attached.
