Heilung - Othan
Experimental folk band, with members from Denmark, Norway and Germany.Their music is based on texts from artifacts of the Iron Age and the Viking Age. They describe their music as "amplified history from early medieval northern Europe, founded in 2014.

When my adult daughter came to see me one day, I had just recently discovered Heilung's music. I loved it the first time I saw/heard them. So I said nothing except I want to show you something. She had just bought for me a nice Roku flat screen TV so I played one of their music videos. Immediately she blurted out a big YES! Vikings! She recognized and identified with her heritage . Kinda gave me goosebumps. My family of 5 now loves you Heilung. Thank you for sharing this.

This isn't Viking music, their main inspirations (instrument and clothing wise) are from the Bronze Age and Iron Age, over a thousand years before Vikings. Though they also sometimes mix in Viking era poems and such. They use many languages in their music, and are inspired by other cultures and traditions (their song Hakkerskaldyr is their version of a Maori haka, they use a couple of instruments from India, Faust got his throat singing from Tibetan throat singing, etc), but sure this is your "heritage"

Such a shame the pandemic has their concerts stifled...hopefully soon they will be able to perform their wonderful work and share this marvelous history (and would love to see them come to Ohio!!)

This was the last song I heard before I gave birth to my beautiful daughter "Viking" style (no drugs).....Her daddy is named Ethan. This song hits me in the Mama feels.

Mar's voice is off key at some points. It sounds like she can't hear herself (bad monitor) or has strained her voice (perhaps performing too many shows back to back) . She has a beautiful voice but it's not coming through here. Their performance at Castle Fest was far better.

At Castlefest there were more bones and less syntheziser. But the sound in this video is average for the whole performance. Maybe it wasn't very well recorded and could have sound much better for those who were there.

The new female vocalists sound great, but honestly I think I liked them better without them. They seem to take away from Marias sound more than backing her up

Looks like the main vocal was not in the mood that day. She sounds off. Weird because she killed in other live performances.

2017 castlefest performance seems to be the benchmark, as it was done for their "lifa" album. Clear vocals, simplistic layering, and Maria holding out her range until her solo. I always go back to that since other yt vids are more amateur and they change each iteration of the song.

We all have these days. Maybe it was about the end of the show? However using your voice so much without a break takes a toll. :) Luckily we know how fantastic she is.
