I ordered one - let’s see end next year how it works in daily life - compared to my Digital Nomad 35, which was not tested by Pack Hacker yet as i think.
I enjoyed the review, very detailed. But, this pack in my opinion is too clunky and busy. The material is great, love nylon but that harness strap system is just too bothersome. Did you say it was optional? If so, I would skip that feature. I like packs I can access all the pockets and interior quickly without a lot of fumbling around. And i love quick release cinching straps. I do like those weather resistant zippers though. Thank you again for your in depth review!
Hey there again Global Adventurer! Thanks for your sharing your thoughts - the harness system is removable or can be tucked away if you're in a pinch. We found some gripes with the system but overall it's really solid. 👍
Hell yes! This is exactly what I've been looking for! For me this is the Swiss knife of backpacks. I needed something stylish, durable, convenient and most of all usable for work, travel and bicycle commute to work. Also this might even double down as my secondary camera bag. Decided to buy the back pack from the transit line and super stoked the Kickstarter campaign was funded easy in 48 hours. So impressed by the level of design that's gone into this backpack not just the visuals but they've thought everything through, tried and done multiple prototypes to find the best solutions (check their live stream recording on the Kickstart campaign page) from materials to use cases etc. +Pack Haker thanks for doing the run through. This and the video run through on Heimplanet's Kickstarter campaign helped to convince that this was going to solve all my needs :) Bought it, cheers!
The pack they sell now has lockable zippers. Bought one recently from the Heimplanet store in Hamburg. Awesome bag! And the guys who run this company are so dedicated. Soooo much thought goes into the design of their products. Big fan!
Very good review Tom. The video shows all details really nicely. At least for me the zippers are lockable enough like they are. I already backed this pack on kickstarter and cant wait to receive mine.
I mean Heimplanet invests a lot in Details like accessibility and functionality! Almost perfect for Prototyp and this is more impressive! BUT the Zipper need to be hidden or you need a possibility to lock them together; if they do; we would have the perfect bag!
Hey Iron Backpacker - Definitely a lot of thought put into this pack! Solid zipper system but we agree, it would have been great if they were lockable too.
Hi Tom, Thanks for your great work. I love it. I have to decide between this Transit backpack and the aer travel 2. I know you have reviewed both. Which has more capacity? Regards, Guillermo.
Glad you're digging it Guillermo! The Heimplanet Transit Line Travel Pack is 34L and the Aer Travel Pack 2 is 33L. You can check out the full reviews of these items for more information and our ratings too - Heimplanet Transit Line Travel Pack: packhacker.com/travel-gear/heimplanet/transit-line-travel-pack/ Aer Travel Pack 2: packhacker.com/travel-gear/aer/travel-pack-2-2/ Thanks for watching! 👍 - Rebecca
@@PackHacker thanks for the response. I already know the specification. But normally the reality is different. After reviewed both, in which you can load more stuff?
Hey Guillermo - there really isn't any discernible difference between the real world capacity of these two bags. We will note that you can fit a surprising amount in the front compartment of the Aer Travel Pack 2, but it all comes down to what you're packing and how you pack it. 😊 - Rebecca
Hey Tom, thanks for the review. About to pick up a newer version of this bag. Did you ever do an updated review of the most recent design? Any thoughts on how it compares? Thx
Hey there! I'll drop a link to our review of the newer version. Thanks for the comment! - Austin packhacker.com/travel-gear/heimplanet/travel-pack-34-v2/
Since this channel’s name is pack HACKER do you have any hack for the hip belt? Meaning any other brand hip belt that could fit the attachments provided. I have the heimplanet monolith and have the same problem, and that back holds a lot of shit. Thank you keep it up
Hey Arnau - great question! We haven't tested this out to see how this works when carrying the pack at full capacity, so we're unable to verify how well it will work, but something like the hip belt that you can buy separately for the Aer Travel Pack 2 could improve the carry. This doesn't offer as much padding as the hip belt on the Tortuga Setout, but we'll keep an eye out and let you know if we find a hip belt that would work better. Hope this helps! - Rebecca
Due to you Feedback the Travel Pack will have LOCKABLE ZIPPERS now. And if we reach the 2. stretch goal the Travel Pack, (and the other TRANSIT Line items) will be available in all black too.
Tom, I understand that bag volume by liter can be misleading. Having said that, by my analysis (could be wrong) the Heimplanet Transit Bag measures smaller than the Minaal Carry-on 2.0 by 3 liters or so. However, based on everything I've seen, including PH's great reviews, it "looks" like one can actually fit more non-tech stuff in the Heimplanet Transit Bag. Since you've reviewed both, which one holds more non-tech stuff in the bucket? Thanks in advance.
Hey ctdefender110 CT - the capacity in the main compartments are very similar, but we found that on the Heimplanet Transit Line Travel Pack, the barrier between the main compartment and the laptop compartment helps to compress the items more which will give you a little more room. Hope this helps! 😊👍 - Rebecca
Hello I'm having trouble deciding on this bag vs boundary supply prima system (not using the camera insert) Both seem like good bags but can I get your opinion on what would be better for travel, based on capacity, weight, etc?
Hey Alexander - from our experience and testing, although we haven't reviewed the Prima System yet, the Heimplanet Transit Line Travel Pack is a solid bag to take on your travels. We do recommend checking out the full written review here packhacker.com/travel-gear/heimplanet/transit-line-travel-pack/ so that you can take a look at our rating, the pros and cons, and to see whether it has the features that will work for you and your travel style. Hope this helps, let us know if you have any more questions. 😊👍 - Rebecca
Hi, have you gotten your hands on the Errant backpack by Boundary? Would love to hear what you have to say about that bag. I know it serves some pretty different needs compared to the Heimplanet, but i'm curious as to how it compares. Also, looking forward to hearing about the new Peak Design Travel Line!
Hey Junereth! We don't have our hands on the Errant yet, but may check it out for the future. We'll certainly be front-loading the Peak Design Travel Line, as well as another top-secret review next week - stay tuned :)
I am currently looking into picking up this pack (mostly in part thanks to your review, as there aren't many out there even after release) and I was hoping you might be able to confirm if the main compartment can hold both a fully packed Peak Design Medium and Small packing cube, and if so whether or not there is any room to spare (perhaps for the Arcido wash kit). Thanks!
Hey Eric - we just tested this out, and if you have the medium and small Peak Design Packing Cubes in there (fully packed to the max and not compressed) they take up most of the bag. However, depending on how you pack the cubes, you should be able to pack a small toiletry bag in there as well. Hope this helps! 😊 - Rebecca
@@PackHacker Exactly the answer I was hoping for, Rebecca. Thanks a ton for your response, and for looking into this for me. I have pulled the trigger on this bag and on the Peak Design packing cubes. Have an excellent day!
Are you guys going to get your hands on the Peak Design Travel Line gear anytime soon? Would be great to get your views on it to see if it's really worth laying down them dollars to back it on Kickstarter ;)
Hey Marilena - we have no plans to do this in the immediate pipeline, but I'll pass it onto the team. Is the Minaal Carry-on 2.0 your go-to pack? 😊 - Rebecca
Pack Hacker I'm moving to NZ soon and I'm trying to decide what bag I'll have as a carry on. The Minaal seems like a very good bag but there's other bags out there and it's making it a little hard to decide
We hear you Marilena, it's not easy. We recommend checking out our Best Travel Backpack Guide packhacker.com/guide/best-travel-backpack/ which will help you find a pack that will work for your travel style. Hope this helps! 👍 - Rebecca
Hey! Love the vid, the detail is amazing on the features. I have a question, which bag is hanging between the Peak Design Everyday pack and the Black Ember? It looks great, but I don't recognize it
I was wondering, does this bag (when filled up with clothes etc.) stand up by the base or does it fall down? I've been having this issue with my osprey farpoint 40 and this might be a deal breaker for me.
Hey supersyndrome - this isn't a self-standing bag, so it's likely you'll run into the same issue with this pack too. Let us know what you decide! - Rebecca
Hey Jason - thanks! Both are great choices - it really depends on the features you're looking for! Any specifics we can help you out with? Also, stay tuned for more..! 🙊
Hey! Aside from a minimal aesthetic, which it seems both have, the three things I look for most are carry capacity, comfort and access. I want to be able to carry plenty while keeping the appearance of a clean not too huge carry-on. But I'd also like to have something that is a breeze getting through airport security, whether I need to access my macbook and liquids or end up having to open the bag completely and pack thing back up.
All good things to keep in mind Jason! Thanks for sharing your thoughts here - super helpful. When you say carry capacity - what's your ideal for longer trips? To add, we'd definitely say this is in the same family as the Carry-On 2.0. Ton of similarities in aesthetic & the opening of the main compartments. Both solid packs for sure, although we haven't had the time to put the Heimplanet through the long testing process like we have the Minaal - yet! - Tom
Excellent points. My ideal capacity for longer trips is roughly 30-35L, with 35 being the max though I try not to carry so much that the bag is completely stuffed. I enjoy the slim and sleek profile - because every little bit helps when you come across a flight attendant having a bad day.
Hi nicelongsmile - Tom here! Here's an example about my travel & design experience - hope it helps: packhacker.com/blog/general/everything-you-need-to-travel-the-world-in-one-backpack/
